We were staying at this hotel for two nights as prelude to a cruise.
The hotel is ideally situated on the grand canal and is close to station.
The rooms we were in were quite plain but clean.
The staff in restaurant at breakfast were not very friendly, quite surly in fact, tables not cleaned and breakfast item selection was poor in comparison to another cheaper hotel that we usually use when in Venice.

We stayed here for 2 nights pre-cruise. It is a great location as the train station and the vaparetto stop were only about a block or 2 away. The breakfast was a buffet and had a nice assortment to choose from. In the evenings we enjoyed drinks while sitting on their patio area overlooking the Grand Canal. Unfortunately, the wait staff were not attentive to their customers...on the 2nd evening we had to go to the front desk to get help in getting our bar bill.

Our room was okay...the view was a wall. But it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning wasn't turned on in our room but after mentioning that to the front desk, that was taken care of the next day.

Probably would not return...too many other nice places to choose from.

We stayed in the Hotel Principe July/August 2014. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station and water bus terminus. There are lots of really good restaurants nearby and if you walk to the side streets just 10mins away you will find some fantastic little bistros where the food is typically venetian and the prices are very good.

The hotel is very venetian with a very ornate reception area which is manned 24hrs a day.
The rooms are comfortable but we didn't get one with a view of the canal as this came at an extra cost. The breakfast buffet was plentiful with 2 coffee machines where you could get anything from an esspresso to a mochiato.

All in all I would recommend this hotel the staff were pleasant and welcoming and the rooms/toilets were immaculate.

The only downside was an old porter gentleman who was a bit dour and acted as if he owned the hotel (maybe he did) if so he needs to try to smile more!!

First impression when I entered the hotel: it was very dated.
The staff was not quite well manered as expected in a Hotel that costed 90 euros per night.
The heating system was far too warm and in the room it was even worse.
The room was quite spacious and in a nice venetian style, but all the windows were facing a service court yard, an awfull view.
The only highlight was the breakfast, a good buffet with a nice view to the Gran Canal.
I wouldn't reccomend this Hotel to anyone, except if you need to stay close to the Santa Lucia train Station.
I believe it's possible to find a better deal in this sort of price in Venice.

Room Tip: Maybe if you pay a bit more to have a room that faces the Gran Canal, that would help, however, they...

I stayed at this hotel aug 21st to 24th with my 20 yr old grandaughter. I read many reviews before i went which i found totally unfounded. This hotel is truly a 4* plus, the staff on reception were very helpful and always pleasant, the maids and breakfast staff again no problems at all. Our room 418 overlooked the Grand canal and had the most wonderful huge roof top terrace overlooking Venice and the Canal with sunbed and table and chairs, our room was tastefully decorated with a lovey Murano chandelier. Bathroom was nice with medium shower cubicle, sink, toilet and hairdrier. In our room we had a walkin dressingroom/wardrobe with safe. Beds were comfy and room was quiet.
Breakfast was hot and cold buffet style always replenished, bacon, scrambled eggs, cerial, breads, pastries etc. This hotel is right next to plenty of water bus stops ( ferrovia ) and train station also handy to auto bus from airport at piazzale roma (over one bridge). this hotel has a lovely reception area with big sofa's the hotel was happy to store our luggage as our fligh was not till late in the day and we were happy to relax on these big sofa's till our departure. This hotel is clean and well decorated. I must add room 418 is no good if your wheelchair bound as there are about 6 steps up to this room after the lift, i did notice this hotel would have other rooms that would be suitable. This hotel is on a good street of very resonable priced restaurants and shops. I will return to this hotel in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: 418 was lovely but not for disabled

We had initially booked a room at the Amadeus hotel, but they were full for the night, so they sent us here. The hotel was very clean, the room we were given was very nice and had a view to the Grand Canal.
Breakfast was included and very good.

I did not give it a rating of 5 as one of the people in the front desk was very rude, the rest was highly enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view to the Canal.

My wife and I stayed for 3 days at the Principe Hotel, great location on the grand canal, near the train station and water bus pickup. Breakfast fairly average and staff friendly, all in all we had a very pleasant stay.
