“No way 4 star quality”

We came to this hotel with high expectations. The place looks great but it is really expensive had no air con which I'd in the room and has a really small tv and no instructions as to get at least sub titles. The breakfast is not that good. The buffet is laid out and left open so the scrambled egg is cold and was under cooked the whole 3 days we were there. The selection was very limited and not satisfactory at all . To eat at the Hotel is a fortune and you don't get much for the money. The location however is great

We stayed 3 nights in a superior double with grand canal view room. The location is great situated on the grand canal and being close to major landmarks it makes it easier to find your way home (most people get lost in the laneways of Venice at some stage). The view of the Canal is great and although it is quite busy during the day it does become nice and quiet after 10 pm. It was very relaxing having a drink at night and enjoying the view after a long day looking at the attractions.
The Hotel could use a freshen up in some areas and is expensive compared to U.S./Asia hotels but you expect to pay for such a great location.
I'd recommend spoiling yourself and getting a private speedboat to/from the airport. The boat stops directly at the hotel and a staff member was there to assist with our bags before we could get off the boat. The boat ride through the canal to get you to the Hotel is amazing and will start the trip on a high.
The Hotel is a decent walk to the main square but you'll love the walk through the laneways and shops.

This hotel is located right in the heart of the action, and across the canal from the railroad station. They say it's easy to get lost in Venice. With the railroad station as a landmark, it was easy to find our way back to the hotel.
By Globus tour standards, this was a nice old fasioned hotel, that still used real door keys. The desk recommended that we return them each time we left the hotel. Our room was fine and the air conditioning was marginally effective. The bed had a firm mattress, which made for a decent sleep. The breakfast was a satisfactory buffet.

Hotel Carlton location is superb, view is amazing ,bridges, water taxi, busy scene in the morning, romantic at night, cross the bridge on your right and there are nice stores selling leather bags, shoes, also restaurants nearby, hotel has a gold themed color,I feel like royalty,it's a little bit old but that adds charm to me,they still have keys for your room,a little heavy,so advisable to give it back when you leave the hotel each time, staff were friendly, they also have a bar in the rooftop with a breathtaking view of a part of Venice.Breakfast is ok.Overall the hotel to me is excellent.Anyway Venice is so magical wherever you are everything to me was perfect.

After having stayed in the #4 rated hotel from TripAdvisor in the beginning of our trip, this was such a disappointment AND more money. The only thing nicer than the other hotel is the rooftop bar, but not worth the difference in price. We were hot at night and asked them to come and check the AC to find that the hotel does not have any. Rooms large but old and run-down, TV worked very poorly. Had to call twice to get more pillow for the rock-solid bed. Breakfast was OK and better than nothing. Staff not very personable. Do not get thrown by the location - there are hundreds of other hotels on the Grand Canal, or some other also quaint canal.

Sitting outside your hotel watching all the activity of the Venice waterway was amazing. The hotel itself was just ok my husband was not thrilled with the room but I thought it had old world charm. Rugs in room are very worn with some rips at doorway but it was clean which to me was the most important thing. Good location so many different areas in Venice. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was good coffee was good and you could take outside and sit at one of the tables and people and boat watch.

What a beautiful hotel. Set right on the canal opposite the train station, easy to get to from where the coaches drop you off. We stayed during the festival and it was brilliant. We attended the hotels masquerade ball and seeing all the costumes was amazing. We were fed lovely wine all evening!! And a lovely buffet, of course.
Our room was small but intimate and beautifully decorated Venetian style. It had the wow factor.
It wasn't too difficult getting to the main square from the hotel - but there were so many shops nearby, and it was lovely just wandering around.
We decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant - and the manager was such a great guy, he talked to us, shared some lovely champagne and he was our favourite staff member there.
Dinner was brilliant, the restaurant looks so beautifully decorated. The wine was gorgeous and our food perfect. We were really happy with the service we received there and overall had a lovely evening. I would totally recommend that anyone staying there invest in some amazing food (and a whole bottle of that wine!!!)
We are definitely going to go here again, we have nothing negative to say about the hotel or the staff. What an amazing place to stay. I seriously recommend staying here !!!
