Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal

Generally a good hotel with helpful staff. It is very convenient to the rail station and the water ferries. Rooms a bit on the small side and the building is a little tired. Breakfast and other dining is excellent and a meal on the terrace on a fine evening is to be recommended. Tips include if arriving with large cases engage a local porter to take them to the hotel for you, and the trip to see some Murano glass is well worth while. The daily water ferry pass is also a good investment.

Stayed with family and friends. The hotel is ideally located opposite the railway station. Check in was smooth with helpful staff. Rooms were adequate but sparkling clean. Buffet breakfast was OK, staff was helpful. Markets and Gondola rides are in walking range. Good hotel would stay again if I visited.

Stayed here in April for 3 nights. The room was beautiful, decorated in traditional Venetian style. It is located just opposite the Vaporetta for travelling via water taxi. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I hope to return again one day.

This was just gorgeous - what a wonderful way to arrive into Venice ... hotel is just over the bridge from the Train Station ... not far at all to drag suitcases :-)

We meandered the streets and alleys and enjoyed getting totally lost - and easily found again ... it actually wasn't as much of a nightmare to get your bearings as we expected. And staying at the Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal - was an easy return to point.

Our room was just lovely - total decadence ... and with a view directly over the canal from our first floor room ... good morning Venice! We closed the shutters each night and really didn't have any issues with noise from passers-by, local cafes or the canal.

Rooms were clean and tidy as was the bathroom.

Totally recommend the roof-top bar to sit and relax and watch the world and the boats go by .... this was a highlight of our Venice experience ... a gorgeous view of the city as it enters sundown and the lights come on. You must do it!!

We had a wonderful dinner downstairs in the hotel restaurant - one of their fixed menu specials - it was totally delicious - sliver service and a most enjoyable experience.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We were overlooking the canal on the first floor - no noise and a gorgeous wee room with two double...
