Hotel was top class. Had a Deluxe Double room. Could be picky and say was a bit small but how long do you actually spend in your room on holidays?!?!! not too often!!! Room was beautifally decorated and the murna glass chandiliers were stunning! Checked in at 9pm, to our name and baggage taken to our room - fab!!! Breakfast was included in our price and was excellent....something for everyone!!! the cafe latte's wer lovely! The hotel location is excellent for exploring venice and he hotel staff provided us with a map - excellent detail...however we did get lost 5-6 times but that added to our experience! Quite expensive to eat out in venice but your on holidays so u dont mind payin!Transport around the grand canal is very expensive - 6.50euro one way newer on the avto! We flew into Treviso Airport and used the low cost shuttle transfer which was 9euro return and the hotel was only a 3 minute walk!!! Al in all and excellent holiday!!! HOwever woulf recommend Venice for children... more for a romantic break away wit ur loved one!!!

Look out for Andrea Tognon at the main desk. If you ask him something more than once he can get quit testy. Just beware of him and ask to speak to someone else. Otherwise, our experience at the hotel was a good one. The rest of the staff was extremely hospitable and very friendly. The hotel was clean and our room was nicely decorated and a good size for a triple. We liked the lobby and ended one of our evenings in the hotel bar where we had drinks and snacks while listening to a very pleasant musical duo. The waitress and manager of the bar went overboard to make sure we were satisfied. The hotel's buffet breakfast was delicious and had more than enough choices. It is located at the beginning of the Grand Canal, close to the bus and train stations, easily accessible by vaporetto.

We arrived here for a four night stay on November 4 following a week in Sorrento.
Our flight from Naples left at 9.00am so we got to the hotel around 11.30am and our room was not ready. However, the staff quickly took our luggage and offered us comfortable seats in the warm reception area.
This was very welcome as it was raining outside and we were feeling the cold having left a morning temperature of 18 degrees in the south of Italy to be greeted by a temperature of six degrees in Venice.
After a tasty lunch in the bar we went to our room which was decorated in traditional Venetian style with a murano glass chandelier and a modern bathroom.
Again it was warm and comfortable and we enjoyed relaxing before venturing outside to explore the immediate area.
The hotel is located on the Grand Canal opposite Venice's railway station. A short walk across the nearby bridge is all that is necessary to reach the Ferrovia waterbus stops. The nearest Alilaguna (airport waterbus) pontoon is 10 minutes walk from the hotel at Guglie but bear in mind if you have a lot of luggage this involves negotiating two bridges. The Piazzella Roma Bus Station is much closer and is served by frequent buses from Marco Polo Airport.
However, it's got to be said the trip in from the airport by water is a fantastic way to approach the city so do it if you can. Guglie is on the orange Alilaguna line.
We ate in the hotel's Cupola Restaurant on two nights and the food is good. I would recommend the seafood risotto.
The hotel is approximately 30 minutes from St. Mark's Square by waterbus. A number of these services stop at Ferrovia. Some travel to St. Mark's along the Grand Canal while others go in the opposite direction past Tronchetto and the Statzione Maritime. They call at St. Georgio Island before crossing the Lagoon to the famous Piazza and in my opinion this is a more interesting journey.
It is also possible to walk to St. Marks via Rialto. This is quite long but do it once to experience Venetian street life.
Overall this hotel offers a high standard of accommodation in one of the world's most beautiful cities and is within easy travelling distance of all its fascinating sights.

We stayed at The Carlton for 3 nights in late October. The staff was really nice and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable (except for the pillows- ask for a couple more when you check-in!) but I was disappointed that we were put next to the elevator and our room didn't have a view. For the price, I was expecting more. This hotel is across from the train station, which is convenient, but I would have rather stayed near St. Mark's. If you don't feel like walking the 40 minutes to where the action is, it's easy to cross the river and jump on the ferry.

Stayed 2 nights here last month. The hotel is very easy to reach on foot from the Piazzale Roma (where the airport bus drops off) and it's not far to the vaporetto stops where you can get the tour down the Grand Canal on the no 1 service.

The reception area is spacious and the staff were efficient and courteous throughout our stay. There is a separate breakfast area, a lounge and a bar/cafe leading to the restaurant. Our deluxe room overlooked the enclosed patio area where there are tables and chairs for guest's use. We asked for a quiet room and there was certainly no noise problem during our stay.

The room decor is a little on the chintzy side but everything was clean. There is air conditioning, but because it was October it was not operating. As the weather was warm and sunny when we stayed, it meant that the room was rather hot, but the windows can be opened wide for ventilation, and there was also an opening window in the bathroom.

The breakfast buffet was quite comprehensive, with breads, pastries, cereals, meats and cheeses as well as hot eggs and bacon. We ate in the restaurant one evening and had the set 5 course menu, which at 38 euros was quite good value, but because the hotel was not full at this time of year the restaurant was fairly empty and quiet.

All in all, we were very pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to other visitors.

We enjoyed our stay here. Being near the train station was a plus for us, as we just had to cross over one bridge (mind you a bridge with many stairs and no ramp). We didn't mind not being near the center of the action in San Marco Square - it was fun navigating through the narrow streets and bridges to get there. Our view over the canal was great although it can get a little noisy sometimes, but I think that would be the case at any hotel on the Grand Canal. We did have dinner there one evening after having a glass of vino outside and were pleasantly surprised with the quality and value of the meal. Our room was very clean and the staff was most helpful. All in all, a very pleasant stay.
