We chose this hotel as a pre-cruise option on our own as it was close to one of the areas we could get a water taxi and not have to drag luggage to the interior of San Marco. The staff helped us with getting a transfer from the airport. Guests who stay at the hotel get a 20% off discount on dining. The location is exceptionally nice as it's close to Piazza San Marco and the palace, and we found that compared to other hotels of the same quality and location it was much less. Very good stay.

This Hotel was in a prime location and had that wonderful old Italian atmosphere
The staff were delightful and very helpful.
The rooms were clean but we found the mattress to be a bit hard but then again we found that to be the case all over Europe, but we we told them that they were happy to make changes to make our night more comfortable. The in-house restaurant was ok, i think a little over priced (even with our discount) for the meals served and would suggest getting yourself lost in the streets and trying one of the lovely restaurants there. Over all we would recommend this hotel with great pleasure.

The hotel is in a very convenient but crowded location. Don't stay here if you dislike crowds. It is old, as everything else in Venice, but nicely done and clean. Out room (Jr. Suite) was big and comfortable ... and overdone. It had a nice view of the pier. The hotel has also a restaurant by the street/pier that serves very good food and is great to sit around sipping wine and watching people passing by. We would definitely stay here again.

Since this was our first trip to Venice we really didn’t know our way around and, I believe, were lucky to have selected the Savoia & Jolanda from ingress and egress perspectives in addition to its general proximity to things to do in Venice. We arrived via high-speed train from Florence and were directed immediately to the “taxis”, which in Venice really means boats provided public transportation. The boats, which should be identified by your hotel before you arrive, as I understand there are fast boats and slow boats (for public transport…private launches are available but about 4X’s as expensive if not more) that are determined by landing location. There is a ticket office adjacent to the boat launch and you need to make sure you get on the right boat or it could take you as long as an hour or more to reach your location. The Savoia & Jolanda is directly facing the boat arrival area adjacent to the Zaccaria landing, about the 5th or 6th landing from the train station…boats 4.1 or 5.1 (the former being the fastest), which means zero hassle getting your roll-aboard luggage into the hotel. Remember, Venice is a city of islands…islands that are connected by bridges mainly with steps…not ramps, and narrow alley ways or wider streets that are jammed with people, so carting luggage over bridges can prove to be a major hassle…hence, selecting a hotel with easy in and out access appears to be a major consideration. I would not recommend Venice for people traveling with small children, especially those with strollers. We saw many a couple near tears as they struggled up and over the canal bridges, packed with tourists taking pictures of themselves with gondolas floating by, as they tried to haul strollers up and down the steps (or getting angry at people trying to get around their strollers in the small alley ways when they stopped to window shop)…this is not a joke…coupled with tour groups of 30 – 40 people who have a “herd” mentality making a difficult for a single walker to navigate through or around them, it’s doubly challenging for families…especially those with young children. Anyway, back to the Savoia & Jolanda. The rooms were small compared to those we had in Rome and Florence…think of Venice more like NYC in this regard, space is more of an intellectual than a physical thing unless you’re willing to pay exorbitant rates and even then you’ll be disappointed by how much you get. So, we believe we paid a fair rate for a good room, nicely kept up and clean with great access to Venice. The staff was especially considerate, and breakfast, which is included and it’s good, not great, i.e. it’s sufficient; however, they provide a nice 20% discount for lunch and dinner at their restaurant with both inside and outside seating and the food is good. The front desk staff is especially considerate and will work to help you expedite transport, etc. Keep in mind when booking a room in Venice, getting back to the airport or the train station will take at least an hour if using public transport, half that if going private…plan ahead. If you’re flying I would recommend booking mid-day flights or you’ll find yourself getting up extremely early in order to get to the airport with the recommended 2-hour pre-arrival time, which may mean leaving 3.5 hours or more in advance of your flight. All in all, we’re happy with our decision to stay at the Savoia & Jolanda. Incidentally, our favorite space in Venice was the Peggy Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art...really fabulous collection (despite the fact that people go to Venice for the more historical ambience...this is a "must" visit) and also an evening listening to the Interpreti Venezianai playing Vivaldi's Four Seasons suite...WOW...really spectacular and sold out...so book tickets early. We also spent a morning at the Galleria Accademia, which was good, but after several weeks in Italy it's easy to get burnt out on religious art, which is essentially what's offered there.

Room Tip: You can pay extra for a view of the promenade; however, you'll be soon burnt out by the crowds a...

Excellent Accommodation , very Clean and Modern , Staff were most helpful, and the restaurant was perfect for our needs.
We really enjoyed our 3 days stay here and would recommended it as an perfect place to stay.

The hotel is in a great location on the Grand Canal near San Marco square. The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping, were excellent. However, the hotel (at least the room we were in, which was one grade up from standard) was in need of repairs. The breakfast buffet was limited and not of high quality products.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this beautiful, botique hotel close to Piazza San Marco. The room was wonderful with views of the Grand Canal. The staff was very helpful especially Thomas. The location was excellent with the dock being just a few yards from the hotel making it very easy getting to and from the airport. Breakfasts were very good and the wait staff very attentive. The location is ideal for getting anywhere in Venice and since it is close to St. Marks, it is easy to find when you get lost and you will get lost. Take early morning walks before the masses of people arrive near the hotel. We walked away from the hotel one morning and found a very quite part of the city away from the crowds which was wonderful. Check out the walking tours of Venice, the best way to see the city.

Room Tip: If you need quiet, don't get a view room. People out late at night making noise
