“Wonderful - quiet and accommodating”
Reviewed 2 November 2012

It's important to understand that as a frequent traveler with Marriott my wife and I were staying at this property using points, and as a Platinum member, we were also treated to free breakfast, so some of the prior reviews complaining about cost, price, etc. did not apply for us. Although dinner and the bar were on par price wise with most other locations in Venice. That being said, we had a wonder time at this hotel, and will certainly consider coming back. The staff was very friendly and the personnel cleaning the rooms did a fantastic job. We met Claudio and Martina at the front desk and they along with the rest of the front desk staff help with reservations, recommendations, etc. Roberto in the dining room was very helpful in selecting both interesting appetizers and wines to make for a great dinner. Mauro in the bar was a little quiet to begin with, but once we started interacting he became a wonderful host. And please don't miss the opportunity to chat with Mr. Zulian. Talk about food, history, almost anything Venizia and you will have a wonderful time. Got my best lasagna advice from him on this trip.

The garden is beautiful and well maintained, but it was too cold for us on this trip to hang out at the benches.

Their SPA is small but nice. The Jacuzzi could have been a bit warmer for my taste, but the sauna and steam room were perfect. The 50min massage made the day.

Yes, the wireless internet is awful... it forced me to be on vacation instead of being 'connected', which after a few days was a great thing.

And yes the water does come up over the sidewalk during high tide - its normal, and its part of Venice and in fact is slowly destroying Venice. It lasts for a couple of hours (3-4 maybe longer if the tide is higher) so you have to plan your excursions accordingly. Even after it recedes at the Boscolo, it is still high water at San Marcos and various locations along the way. Be aware and plan...

Lastly, if you want coffee in the morning as you wake up, bring a small hot water maker and buy some instant. Getting dressed to go down stairs to get tepid coffee is a pain and room service prices for coffee are too high.

With a little advance planning, you can have a wonderful time at this hotel.

Room Tip: Slow elevators make higher floors a challenge when crowded

This is a beautiful property in a quiet part of town. The staff is helpful and friendly, and all speak English. Most guests seem to be Americans. The room was nice and the food was good. However, if you are counting on having internet access here, you will be severely disappointed. Their WiFi is clearly antiquated and unreliable. If you do get a connection, it will soon drop and leave you to start over, and over, and over. The staff is aware of how poor it is but will not be open about it, perhaps restrained by higher management. I finally went to an internet shop to connect and get email. What a pity that such a beautiful hotel falls so short on a service of this importance.

My wife and I were excited to stay at this hotel, since it was a 5 star rated hotel and Marriott usually has the amenities to make their hotels that rating. This hotel is not that, the lobby was very nice, and the garden was quiet and peaceful. but like other lower ratings stated, everything was so expensive, breakfast was 25 Euros apiece, which with a captive audience, we were not able to go elsewhere. We had a snack and it was 50 Euros, prices were outrageous. Like one other review stated, need to take a private water taxi, we used the public here and it took over 1.5 hours to get from time of ticket and crowded and treated like cattle on the boat. they do have a private boat that goes to San Marcos, so that is great. Service at breakfast was poor, coffee was cold and the people were not very friendly, not like a Marriott usually is. Our room stunk, so we had to purchase spray for it to live with the smell. Last morning the tide was up and it was 6" of water at the front door and it seemed the staff would not make accomodations to help. the back dock was fine, but they would not have boats come there, would sell to us a pair of boots for $20 to walk to another stop, that is BS to me, pay that kind of money for a room, then be treated that way.

Stayed at hotel October 2012. First night turned Air Conditioning all the way down b/c room was hot. AirCo did not work so we opened windows.Big mistake. Mosquito's ate us alive. If you look around the room you can see where prior guests killed mosquitos. The carnage marks are all over the walls and ceiling. The hotel itself is very nice. I found the staff to be delightful. The front desk employees were very nice and did feel bad about the mosquitos. They did advise us that the AirCo was off b/c of the "change of seasons". The second night we had to sleep hot b/c opening windows was not an option. The shuttle boat was great. The hotel location was great if you want to stay away from the tourist area. Walking to everything was easy (unless you have a stroller or wheelchair-that is impossible).

The hotel, staff and location were perfect for our stay in Venice. Located in a quiet part of Venice but easy access to tourist hotspots. Has private boat available. Several quality resturants within easy walking distance. Would stay here again in a heart beat. Our room included breakfast which included typical Italian items plus American style food. Room was very comfortable and quiet. After seeing the hotels on St Marks square I knew I had picked a hotel being close but away from touristy hustle and bustle. If you stay here make sure you stop in the church just down the canal. It has limited hours but will not disapoint. Truly looking forward to stay here again. Our room overlooked the canal but i don't think that was important. Breakfast is servered in a very pretty garden.

We had an incredible experience at Boscolo. The room was beautiful! We absolutely loved the staff and the hotel location was great. We enjoyed several meals at the hotel restaurant and there were several other places near by to eat and drink. Fantastic!

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Marriott Autograph Collection Boscolo Exedra in Venice. We loved this quiet neighborhood, just a short walk from the Madonna dell'Orto vaporetto stop, and also very convenient to quite a few excellent little restaurants in the Cannaregio neighborhood. We did not have breakfast included so can't comment, and the restaurant was quite expensive; but we preferred to dine outside the hotel in any case. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and the room was fine, if small! We would rate this more of a 4-star Marriott, but we love their new concept of the Autograph Collection.

You can take a fairly long but pleasant walk to Rialto or San Marco, or take the vaporetto. The hotel also has a free shuttle to San Marco by reservation. I might note that the person below who went around Murano on the way to the train station must have gotten on the "bus" in the wrong direction---they go both ways from the same stop!

We would return to this hotel on a future trip.
