“Nice hotel in a Great Location”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

We stayed here for 2 days in April. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the San Lucia train station, and if you are coming in at San Lucia, you can get to the hotel without any steps. Room wasn't very big, but was clean and gave us a great view (we were in the front). The breakfast was very good. The staff were very nice and helpful. The WiFi in the lobby worked well, and there is a computer in the lobby available for use. In the immediate vicinity, there are plenty of shops and restaurants. It's about a 30 minute walk to St. Marks.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front of the hotel face the Grand Canal.

Absolutely loved this place. It is a few minutes walk from the station and right in the heart of all the action. It is right on the Grand Canal. It is a very old world style building with beautiful Venetian decor. The staff were lovely and helpful. Our room was a little bigger than some we have stayed at in Europe. The bathroom was good with a big bath. The breakfast was beautiful . The water taxi is right out the front door, so is the shopping and restaurants. There is a supermarket within about 8-10 minutes walk. We would highly recommend this hotel.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The main positive of this hotel is the fantastic location. The fact that it is moments from the rail station means that it is easy to locate. The Vaporetto stop is extremely close to the hotel also which is a good way to get around the city. It is also easy to get to and from the airport at this hotel (we got the Aliguana boat from the airport to Guglie which is a few minutes' walk away).
Overall, our room was good. Excellent views of the Grand Canal from where we were staying. Staying at a room overlooking the canal has drawbacks, however. Whilst the views are beautiful, the streets are very noisy, especially at night and not long after 7am when the stalls outside are being set up for the day. I still slept well but I was woken a few times because of the noise. I cannot complain too much though because I did love having the amazing canal views to enjoy (sunrise was a lovely time to look outside before it is too busy).
Also, our double bed was comprised of two single beds which was a little uncomfortable to sleep on. Shower was good and bathroom clean. My partner was keen to check e-mails and use the internet but the only area with internet was the lobby so wasn’t ideal in that respect.
Breakfast was ok, nothing special but good enough to start the day. I mostly had fruit and yogurt. My partner kept to toast.
Staff were pleasant and welcoming. When we checked in, we were given a good overview of the city with recommendations for places to eat. We tried one of the restaurants suggested, which was great.
Overall, I was very pleased to stay at this lovely hotel. I liked the Venetian style and beautiful lobby and bedroom. The views of the Canal were superb. However, be aware of the lack of internet access points, average breakfast, single beds as a double and the noise of streets if your room overlooks the canal and busy street

Room Tip: Rooms with the canal views are fantastic but do be aware of the noise at night and very early in the...

Terrible hotel in my life. They didn't change the bed sheet. There are a lot of hairs in the bed. The room is very dirty. I'm very disappointed with room condition. And door boy directly requiered a tip.

First the good points:
- location close to the train station and the Grand Canal
- elegant Venetian decor
- helpful and friendly staff in the restaurant and on reception

And the bad:
No tea/coffee making available in the room or on request from reception - told to go to the bar and get a jug of hot water from there
Breakfast was disappointing - adequate for continental but expected more from a 4 star. The scrambled egg could be sliced with a knife.
The bathroom is dangerous! As someone who has designed and installed bathrooms for a number of years, the size of the bathroom was adequate for a bath/shower, WC and basin - but a bidet has also been installed such that there is only a narrow space of about 25cm to access the bath. The very hot towel radiator overhangs the end of the bath and ones natural instinct when trying to climb into the bath is to use it as a grab rail - ridiculous design! The shower you set to the desired temperature and this is fine until someone elsewhere in the hotel turns on a hot or cold tap - the shower is then suddenly cold or scolding hot. I gave up and had a bath. Most dangerous of all is the electrical connection above the shower head. This must be at least to international standard IP65 to prevent water ingress. This was missing its cover and from a visual inspection did not appear to be IP65 compliant. If the other bathroom are like this, where I live the health and safety inspectors would shut down the hotel until it met the required standards.
No wifi in the rooms - I'm informed this is because the hotel is old and they cannot install it. I wonder how they managed to install plumbing, electrics and wired internet to each room?
A lot of work required to get this establishment up to 4 star.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.

The hotel is one of the closest to the Santa Lucia train station in Venice. We've dragged our bags all over Venice in previous trips but the Bellini is literally steps away. Drop your bags and go see the sights. Our room overlooked the bridge and the Grand Canal. It was small by American standards but what a view. Clean and well kept. The only complaint was the breakfast room felt a little dark and drab with no windows. The staff were very busy but helpful and pleasant. This isn't a hotel where staff and guests "bond" but who cares. The hotel is not one in which people linger it is meant to be a drop off point for your excursion to Venice. When you're ready to move on, the train station is feet away.

We stayed at Boscolo Bellini for two nights. The reception is swift, very courteous. The hotel is breathtakingly beautiful, gorgeous foyer with Venetian glass chandelier, marble flooring and beautiful decor. The rooms are well appointed. But note that Italians do not provide wash cloths as they regard it as a personal item. There is no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms, but you can easily buy great espresso by walking on the main street of Ferrovia (turn left when exiting the hotel). There are hundreds of shops and restaurants suited for all tastes and budgets. Breakfast is stunning, great choice of warm and cold items. The hotel is very well located, walking distance from the railway station and roughly 30 min walk from St. Marco piazza.
