We have just returned to the UK from Venice staying in the excellent Hotel Colombina for a week Comfortable, clean, staff very helpful, polite.
Our room was excellent. Breakfast buffet style with pleanty of choice ranging from cereals, meats, cheese, fruit, breads & eggs & bacon. Bar prices are high so drink out.
Would not hesitate to recommend a short stay or longer if you wish, close to St Marks Square a wionderful area of Venice.

We enjoyed our stay at colombina hotel very much. Nice hotel, location, breakfast and a wounderful room especially that we had booked a deluxe room with canal view which was really amazing.
A little bit pricy but this is venice anyway :(

This was our second choice as our first was fully booked but we could afford to upgrade to a canal view room with this hotel. So glad we chose this as the location was much better. Easy to find from the San Marco water bus stop - right by St Marks square but just tucked away enough to be peaceful at nights. St Marks square and surrounding roads ridiculously expensive so we turned right out of the hotel and found some little gems further afield. The room was a decent size and clean although much warmer than I like. We did open the windows to sleep but kept the shutters firmly closed and lights off and with a squirt of bug stuff we remained unvisited by bitey bugs. Breakfast was as expected nothing spectacular but enough to keep us going. If i was to return to Venice i would definitely stay here again. It would be lovely to splash out and arrive by water taxi but it isn't necessary as it is such a short walk and only one bridge to tackle with cases and thats the one right outside the hotel.

Room Tip: I would definitely pay the extra for a canal view room and with this hotel it is affordable.

I stayed in this hotel with my boyfriend on early December and we couldn't be any happier. This hotel is in the perfect location. Steps from San Marco square yet not in the busy middle. The breakfast had the essentials which was fine with us and the room was quite quaint.

We decided to spurge a little and get a canal view. Not only it had a canal view but up the stairs from our window we had our own private rooftop! It was unexpected and we are so glad they gave us that room. We bought a bottle of wine and after dinner went straight to the rooftop to enjoy the view!

This was our second time at the Colombina, although last time we stopped in the annex Remedio. This time we decided to spoil ourselves and upgrade to a canal front room in the main hotel. The room was delightful on the third floor (room 302) with views to the campanile and also the Bridge of Sighs. Very clean, comfortable, and typically Venetian, with easy and close access to St Mark's Square, being located between St. Marks and Santa Maria Formosa. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had a problem tuning into the TV, which, with advice from the reception staff was easily sorted by pressing the correct button on the remote!! (not that we spent much time watching TV!) Breakfast was delicious - coffee or tea served fresh in the lovely breakfast room, and self service choice of bacon, egg, sausage, croissants (variety), fresh fruit, yogurt, cake, rolls, ham, cheese, fruit juice - you get the picture. We arrived by alilaguna boat from the airport to San Zaccaria. A lengthy journey (hour and 20 mins) calling at Murano, Fondamente Nove, Lido, Arsenale, and a good way of getting a lagoon tour and transfer in one go. Unfortunately it was rainy and misty on our transfer, so we didn't see much, but we have done this before and it is a lovely way of arriving in Venice. I think that if you can afford it it would be nice to get a water taxi to arrive straight at the hotel's water entrance - and quite swanky!
We would definitely recommend this hotel, and will hopefully return again.

Room Tip: Try upgrading to a canal front room, and listen to the gondoliers singing.

My Husband and I went on our late honeymoon and stayed here Feb 19th-23 for the Venice Carnival. Its like 3-5 minute walk to Saint Marks Square. The Hotel was very vintage and wonderfully decorated. The reception staff was great. They always greeted you nicely and offered tours with discounted price! Restaurants all real close as well. We got the Deluxe canal view room and view was breathtaking. Although i did get bit with mosquitos on the last night but our fault because we left the windows open lol. Breakfast was good however we had daily delivery in our room for a couple extra euros. Will stay here again!! The only bad thing is that their tv had like 2 channels only :/ but other than that great experience!

Room Tip: Ask for canal views.

This was a great location. Close to the square but not all the action and noise. We were in the annex( a surprise) and no view. The room was small but comfortable. The jacuzzi didn't work. They added a small cot near the closet for our son and it needed to be moved to get into the closet. When we booked a triple, I thought we would have an actual triple. There were mosquitos even in Feb. and the rooms were very warm so we had to open the windows. We read that this was a problem but didn't think it would pertain to Feb. The breakfast was nice but the annex breakfast did not include the same food as in the main hotel. We were switched to the main hotel for breakfast for the last two nights of our stay...too bad they didn't upgrade our room.
