Holiday Inn Venice Mestre Marghera

Internet:
No interenet the entire time. They offered a computer at the front desk to use, but I prefer not do work related tasks with people standing all around me.
Parking:
The 'sub-contractor' parking lot attendant said I had to pay up front for parking. I told them I was here for 4 days so they said I had to pay 50 euro (10 deposit for the access key and 40 for parking). I told them I wanted to pay for 2 days and they said I had to change my reservation. So I went inside and cancelled 2 nights of my reservation. I hope Holiday Inn realizes the disservice they are doing to their customers when the they allow the parking lot to dictate hotel business. Very sad.
Food:
This location has a restaurant on the bottom floor. I went to order some food to take to my room. They told me "no". You can only order food from the 'room service' menu, which is different. This hotel is not equipped to cook food from their restaurant menu and deliver to a room inside the same building. Apparently only hamburgers are allowed insde the rooms. Not sure why but I decided the strict rules associated with eating here was not worth it so I drove away and ate elsewhere.

I will avoid this Holiday Inn forever. Too many other hotel options without the hassles.

The hotel is nothing special, I got an employee rate here so I stayed but it's like a 17 min drive from the center of Venice. They do have a shuttle that takes you back and forth but the times are limited and if you want to stay late you have to take a taxi back. The rooms are not big but comfortable and so are the bathrooms. The front desk could be a little more helpful it seemed like the guy at night was always in a bad mood. If you don't want to spend a lot of money to stay in the center of Venice stay here, its ok for a couple of days.

Stayed 2 nights (1st & 2nd July 2012) on the "Venice for You" package. Very good value - included breakfast, 3 course meal & return shuttle service to Piazzale Roma where you can pick up the vaporetto. Rooms were slightly small but with a super kingsize bed which was very comfortable. Air con could have done with being stronger as temperatures were in high 90s. Best breakfast in Italy - even the fresh fruit salad contained large ripe cherries - plus good choice continental and hot choices (fried or scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms & on one day sausages) - & also good range of croissants & pastries. Evening meal was superb on both nights. Although deal seemed to limit choice we were told to just select any 3 courses from main menu - king prawns, steak, good chicken dishes etc. Power shower in room was excellent & staff were very friendly & helpful. We've stayed in Venice itself before but would choose to return to Holiday Inn in future.

Hotel facilities are nice. They should have a shuttle to take people to where the 'vaporetos' leave. Since the hotel does not have any service like that, you will need a taxi, which is not always a fair option, according to the experience we had. We were charged 39 euros (one way) from the hotel to the square where you can take the 'vaporeto'. When we questioned the driver, he did not want to explain why the meter started with 15 euros instead of 7, which would be according to the paper he had in the taxi. We did not try to take the bus, since we were visiting Venice at night, and wouldn't have the time to wait for it. To get back to the hotel, we paid 30 euros. Some people paid 20 euros.

The hotel was clean and located close enought to take a bus from the train and to Venice. The room was clean and the bathroom was larger than most in Italy. Staying close to the elevator and maids closet room proved noisy and the walls seemed to project noise.
The staff was helpful and access to the Internet was available and that was a huge convinence.

Ideal for visiting Venice, we were on a motorcycle tour andalthough the hotle was on a busy roundabout it was ideal for us. Expensive for Holidy inn and so was the resturant but found the staff helpfull. Not much around the hotel but to be honest you should be in Venice city most of the time. Great nights sleep and good breakfast

We booked this hotel as an extension of our cruise which ended in Venice. It was our first time in Venice so we had no idea where anything was. After trawling internet sites, we decided to go with a name we knew as the hotels in Venice either looked too old or too expensive. We took the People Carrier (1 euro each) from the cruise terminal straight into the bus terminal and then caught a taxi to the hotel, about 15 minutes drive and cost 30 euro including tip. This was the easiest option for us as we had loads of luggage with us. The number 6 bus drops you off 2 blocks from the hotel but we didn't want to lug our cases with us not knowing where we were going. However do ask Reception for details of this local bus as it cost 1.50 each way as opposed to the hotel's shuttle bus which cost 8 euros return. The local bus is also more frequent. The Holiday Inn's location also means that you don't have to struggle with your luggage up and over the very many bridges and winding streets trying to find your way to a hotel actually in Venice. The staff on reception were really helpful, they allowed us to store our luggage before and after check-in which meant we could tour Venice freely. The only negative I have is that the restaurant was so expensive to eat dinner in, you are better off eating in Venice itself for those prices. The rooms were spacious and clean, with no road noise. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a modern hotel.
