Owner description: The Orchestra Virtuosi di Venezia-Orchestra da camera di San Marco had been formed in 2002 under the inspiration of Vivaldi's work. The ensemble and the musical formation have both been chosen to recall the exact situation in which Vivaldi worked and reproposes in its concerts the athmosphere and the genio of the Red Priest' compositions. The Orchestra was born with the intention and the honor of paying tribute to the great composer in the prestigious Ateneo di San Basso, in San Marco square, whose hall has the same dimensions of the Pieta Institue music hall, in which Vivaldi composed.

“Listening to Vivaldi in Venice..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

The very concept of listening to one of my favorite pieces of music in its land of origin was exciting enough. And right in San Marcos! There was complete silence inside the room when the doors were shut, shutting out the perennial buzz of the busiest square in Venice. The music was excellent- the lead violinist is a man with passion, Small group, almost a personal performance (baithak, as they call it in Indian classical music), great atmosphere. Seating a trifle cramped- I could see people with bad knees shuffling. The ticket pricing varies between Euro 21 and 30 on different ads and sites- I wonder why? We picked up our tickets at the venue, the lady was not very pleasant, and did not accept a credit/forex card, which was indeed surprising. But the music more than made up for everything..Overall definitely worth it, and highly recommended

“Four seasons by vivaldi”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

The best thing about this ensemble concert was the atmosphere. We were right by St Mark's square in an old building that vivaldi designed his music for. The crowd was not knowledgeable about classical music and would clap after every movement. Annoying...also the performance by the violin soloist was terrific. He had a great way to engage and lead his fellow players. Viola and cello players were not so good.

My 11 year old son loved this concert as much as we did. The musicians had a great rapport, and the lead violinist was incredibly gifted. Definitely worth the money; this was our Venice highlight.

“Impressive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" are played with such talent in a stage capturing an era of beauty and grandeur. The show starts at 8:30 pm and is not really recommended for children. The hall is air conditioned so a thin wrap or jacket can come in handy. The seats are not so comfortable especially after sitting an hour. The music though is very soothing and worth every penny. A nice way of starting an evening in Venice.
