This is an older hotel with a modern bathroom (hand held shower). Our room was small; the window overlooked a courtyard. There was enough room for two people who really just slept in the room and used the bathroom in the morning. It was quiet. The hotel has an elevator (lift).

What was good was that it was close to Piazzale Roma and the shuttle bus from the airport. We dragged the suitcases over two small bridges and were at the hotel in about 15-20 mins. When we left to go to the cruise port, we again dragged the suitcases over the two small bridges across Piazzale Roma to the People Mover.

There are plenty of vaporetto stops nearby.

The room included a great breakfast from 7-10 am. There was ham, salami, cheese, bacon and scrambled eggs. Also hard boiled eggs. Plus pastries dry cereal and muesli. Of course, coffee, tea and juice.

We booked the room on Priceline...Remember to bring a paper copy of your voucher. They will ask for it when you check in

Sister hotel to the Carlton, this smallish hotel is a few steps off the canal in a very quiet street. You can have discounted drinks at the Carlton's rooftop terrace on the canal. If you use the train to Venice, it's very close to the main station. (Getting across the bridge may be a pain, especially with heavy luggage, considering its many steps...!). Decent breakfast included. We asked for a room with a view, and got one on top floor (where lift doesn't go) with a balcony!

Room Tip: Ask for top floor and balcony

This is a great example of the up to 200 Euro per night hotel in central Venice:

Very small room with rather old, not very modern or nice furniture.
Small but functional, recently renovated bathroom.
Good hot breakfast.
.
Pros:
- excellent location (300 meters from the station ). Remember you have to push your bags over some stony bridges to get to the hotel.
- excellent working wi-fi.
.
Cons:
-40 minute long walk from San Marco square

The hotel is clean and quite with enough space for relax. Good breakfast and front desk sevice.
Location is good which is near to the Grand Canal, just pass through a narrow road but please make sure you can find out that road on the map..

Room Tip: Make sure download the map offered by hotel beacuse it is difficult to find the hotel without map.

Dirty and dingy. (except for bathroom). Ran my finger on the bedframe, it was dark from the dirt. Room was supposedly a triple. they crammed 3 twin beds un a single small room. how can 3 people move around or store suitcases?? had poor lighting, no sunlight. Worse part- front desk clerk recommends a restaurant for 'locals' and turned out to b worst restaurant ever! Not one local in the restaurant. Indian guy for a cook. my spaghetti carbonara a mushy overcooked mess. When clerk gave me directions, sent me by confusing route instead of clear more direct way. I wonder if clerk actually hates tourists.

Stayed here for three nights, and found the service very good indeed. Room wasn't enormous and was VERY hot (not sure if there was no air con or if they just don't operate it all year round, but it certainly wasn't working in October) but didn't spend all that long in the room anyway. No tea making facilities though. Nice decor. Breakfast was OK, but having spent 10 days already travelling around Europe I was beginning to get fed up of meat cheese bread and scrambled eggs every day. At least they had a good selection of fruit. The reason why I am pleased that we stayed here was that it was only 5 minutes walk from St Lucia railway station which when you're humping a heavy case over the bridges across the water is quite a relief!

Old style charm, this hotel has it. The breakfast very basic, although there were eggs and bacon. The room was nice, we had 3 beds though which was strange. The air con didn't work either. The bathroom clean and pretty spacious, only problem the shower had no hanger, so you had to hold the shower head to wash yourself. The elevator was a bit dodgy at times and the keys very heavy as it had a massive key ring on it. The location was good and a tiny walk to get to the water front of the grand canal & stalls. Overall was a pretty nice place to stay.
