We booked this hotel for a wedding anniversary in June. From the correspondence prior to our stay to the end of the week, we could not fault it. Having visited Venice previously, rather than walk to the speedboat taxi, we arranged for the hotel to meet us at the airport with a short taxi ride to our speed boat taxi, which, of course took us to the door of the hotel on the Grand Canal. Checking in was easy and our luggage appeared in our room straight from the airport. Our room was beautiful - no view, but nonetheless stunningly decorated with a beautiful Italian marble bathroom and fabulous toiletries. I loved the eye serum left on my pillow after the turn-down service.
Breakfast, sitting on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal was magical. All the staff throughout the hotel were attentive, helpful and polite.
We took advantage of the chauffeur service back to the airport, and once again, absolutely faultless.
A big thank you to all the Gritti Palace staff for making our stay so memorable. Having stayed here, we feel that we would not want to stay at any other hotel in Venice.
We look forward to a return visit soon.

My wife and I did a two day break in Venice staying at the Gritti palace for the first time. We had a deluxe room overlooking the grand canal. Probably the hotels best feature is the superb terrace overlooking the canal, we could have sat their all day drinking Bellini cocktails and just watching the gondaliers and life go by. The breakfast (continental buffet included) and dinner (try fresh fish if they have it) were excellent and the service impeccable. Internal decor is very Venetian with beautiful ornate glass everywhere. Only two negatives - the coffee was a bit stewed in the morning (recommend you go for the restretto and hot milk which is freshly made) and the room was a little expensive for the size (although being Venice everything is expensive!). Overall a lovely hotel that we will definitely go back again to.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room

Dear Guest,

It’s a pleasure for us to know you enjoyed your stay at our hotel, enjoying the various services, and captured its classy Venetian feel.

The location is indeed a peaceful one but so centrally located that it makes it convenient for most activities in the city.

We are sorry to read that you did not like the coffee at breakfast, however please be informed that it is constantly freshly brewed.
Our prices are in line with those of same category hotels in Venice, but your remark has been noted.

Thank you for posting your review, we appreciate your feedback!

Best regards,

Paolo Lorenzoni
General Manager

For a luxurious direct view of the Grand Canal ....and the best martini in Venice.... head to the outdoor terrace of the Gritti Palace Hotel. Expensive - but that's the price for this unforgettable experience.

One of our best hotel experiences ever, I still dream of breakfast, lunch and dinner of the terrace of the Gritti Palace, overlooking the Grand Canal. The recently refurbished interior is gorgeous- discreet, Venetian, intimate and very comfortable.

Room Tip: Save up for a canal view.

We stayed at the Gritti Palace for two nights in May. This hotel is unbelievably beautiful and luxurious! We purchased the 48 hour water bus pass and used the pass to travel from the train station to the hotel. We entered through the side door of the hotel and I think we surprised the staff. I believe most of the guests must arrive by water taxi at the front entrance. The staff could not have moved quicker to assist with our luggage and to check us in. We used Starwood points for our stay. In some of the Starwood properties, you are made to feel like a second class citizen if you use points for your stay. This is not the case at the Gritti Palace. The staff checking us in was very friendly and personally escorted us to our room. We stayed in Room 103 which had a view of the street leading to the gondolas on the canal. The room was large for Europe and had a lounger, king size bed with, chair, love seat, desk and mini bar with television. The bathroom was absolutely beautiful with a separate tub and walk-in shower. The linens were top notch--everything was top notch in this room and hotel. There is a restaurant on the terrace which overlooks the canal open in the evening and also another restaurant overlooking the canal which serves drinks and lunch. Be sure to at least have a drink on the terrace--it was a wonderful experience. We were entitled to a 4:00 checkout time due to our Starwood Gold status but unfortunately, we had to catch the 7:25 a.m. train to room. If not, I would have stayed in that beautiful room until 3:59!!! We are so glad we were able to spend two nights in Venice at this beautiful hotel and we can't wait to go back and stay longer next time!

The Gritti gave us the lap of luxury in the heart of Venice. The room while modest in size was beautifully appointed down to the last detail. The service was excellent. We most enjoyed sitting on the terrace and enjoying the spectacular view on the grand canal. Expensive but worth the price. Of course you have no view from your room unless you are ready to take out a second mortgage.
