“Superlatives are insufficient”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

My beautiful room overlooking the Grand Canal would have been enough to make me love The Gritti Palace. The breakfasts, dinner and drinks on the terrace let you enjoy the present, while imagining the conversations of the writers and artists who came before you. The excellent staff and concierge will make all things possible. And the location could not be better. With all the cruise ships, it is better not to be too close to St Marks. The Gritti Palace is an easy walk to anywhere and very close to a vaporetto stop. Ne plus ultra.

Dear Guest,

We fondly thank you for your nice review and for having summarized it in three words that say it all: “superlatives are insufficient”!

We are overjoyed to read that you fell in love with the Gritti and that your fantasy allowed you to enjoy listening to conversations among writers and artists, our hotel having been for decades the “Venetian residence” of such distinguished international travelers!

We hope there will be an opportunity for you to visit The Gritti Palace again and perhaps enjoy a “live” celebrity sighting.

Best regards,

I'll try to make this quick since I'm still in Venice and I like easy to read reviews when I'm looking.

The Gritti Palace has made my stay in Venice warm and comfortable. It is the perfect combination of luxury and warmth, not stuffy like many others.

Pros
1.Hotel Itself...Beautiful
2.Room.....I was awed by the the decor and architecture.....beamed ceilings, Murano chandelier...even the binders and notepads match the wallpaper, such attention to detail. I usually like more modern, but not this time. Quiet for sleeping.
3. Check-in....Easy and smooth. Our hostess was warm, but quick getting us to our room after a late flight.
4. Housekeeping....room very clean.....turn-down also very good.
5. Concierge helpful with directions and arranging last minute private boat, the best thing we did in Venice.
6. Location ....10 to 15 minute walk to St Marks and Salute Church.

Cons, being very picky....it's hard to think of any
1. Watch your step going into bathroom . I had no problems, but my travel companion's toes have hit the marble 3 times so far
2. Make sure you move step stool near tub or you may have no place to lay your shampoo and such.
3. Room is on the smaller side, it's Venice.
That's it. This is one of my all time favorite hotels now and I'm known to be picky about such things.

Thanks Gritti Palace for the nice stay!

My husband and I spent two wonderful nights at this luxurious hotel located right on the Grand
Canal. The service and room were wonderful, but it was extremely expensive. Normally we would not splurge for a room like this, but as it was our 40th anniversay, we decided to use our starwoods points. We were not disappointed at the quality of the experience. As the food was pricey, we chose to eat at some of the local resaurants, of which there were many.

Dear Guest,

We wish to thank you for having chosen our exclusive Palace for your 40th wedding anniversary!

It is a pleasure to read that the quality of your experience lived up to your expectations, although you decided not to enjoy a romantic candlelight gourmet dinner in the absolutely unique and very special atmosphere of our restaurant terrace directly on the Grand Canal!

We really look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back in a not distant future, maybe for another celebration, and to let you experience, all-round, our personal touch once again.

A five star experience at a 5 star hotel. We had a lovely room, extremely spacious by European standards. Luxuriously appointed bathroom and amenities. Super comfy bed. Staff and concierges all wonderful. The Gritti has a cooking school and we spent a morning taking lessons with the executive chef, Daniele. If you want a break from all those Tintorettos, highly recommend. You will not be disappointed at The Griitti.

Room Tip: We had room 230, no canal view but a large corner and were very happy there.

Dear Guest,

Your gracious review of your recent visit is most appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of the superior service you received at our hotel and of your satisfactory cooking school experience with our Executive Chef Daniele Turco, who is touched by your rewarding comment and recommendation: a day spent learning Daniele’s creations instead of admiring Tintoretto’s paintings!

We look forward to your return visit to savor other tasteful delicacies!

If one visits Venice, and YOU should,a hotel that adds to the experience should be the choice. Our lavish, and I DO mean LAVISH,suite on the Grand Canal, meant it was always showtime, with the throbbing day time life on the most interesting waterway on planet. The night views were fabulous also, with the churches and boats. The FOOD in the included breakfast buffet was to tax the imagination.and to dine there on water added to the wonderous ambiance. The evening dining, which we did once, was superb. I must say,the concierge was TOO much. Straight out of central casting in manner and appearence, dashing, with true Italian flair. He helped us greatly, arraqnging speed boat, etc. We dealt with another fine guy also at the desk, who did great by us. To US,the Gritti IS venice!! (note-bathrooms and toiletries are best I've ever seen.

Room Tip: Canal side !! if you can.
