Venice hotels are expensive and this one was reasonably priced. The service was great. Everyone on the staff was helpful. THe room was good. It is centrally located between the Rialto and St. Marks Square. Get off at the Rialto vaporetta stop on your way in, continue to down along the canal toward St. Mark's and turn down Calle Bembo. It turns into the street the hotel is on. I will say check the price for Palce Bonavechiatti across the street as well ... it looked a little nicer and the price was not much more the days I stayed when I checked it.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor. THe room was good.

Nice little hotel close to all the sights. We spent very little time in hotel as in Venice your always on the go. Staff was very nice in any dealings we had with them. Hotel was a good value. Would recommend .

Could not ask for a better location. Only a few minutes walk to St Mark's Square. We had room 66 on top floor which had its own terrace.. lovely room. Spotlessly clean hotel. Staff very friendly and cant do enough to help. Breakfast consisted of plenty of cold meats, cheeses, croissants, rolls, yoghurts, fruit, cereal, juices, tea and coffee- something for everyone. As a travel agent I have stayed in many hotels but would definitely return to the Gorizia. . From the airport take the Alilaguna (water bus) blue line to St Marks Square (15 euros) and it is only minutes to the hotel. When you come off the water bus turn right then right again, walk up past all the designer shops and turn right again and walk into St Marks Square. Head over to the left hand side of the square and about half way along you will see a small corner shop selling ice cream water etc. go through that alley, and head for Calle Fabbri (just over the stairs) turn left and walk along Calle Fabbri until you come to some stairs. Go over the stairs and Hotel is on your right hand side (red awning on outside).

This hotel is located in a great spot in Venice. In between Rialto bridge and San Marco. You can get anywhere of importance a few minutes. There are great restaurants and pubs and tons of shopping. Now for the review, check in was a breeze and the staff was very friendly. The rooms are small compared to what you would see in the U.S. however they are clean and decorated in the Venetian style. Bathrooms are clean and functional but the shower was a bit tiny. We were in room 21. It was in the 90's when we were there so it was a bit hot. The air conditioner worked but it could have been cooler. The hotel staff did their best to make it cooler and offered to change rooms but it was not unbearable so we stayed.

Breakfast was served every morning at 730 am and consisted of fresh bread, cheese, salami, Italian and American coffee, fruits lyougurts and various cereals. It was more than enough to get us going in the morning and very consistent with a European breakfast, over all, this was a great hotel and a great value. We would stay here again in a moment and not think twice about it. We had a wonderful time here

Only a few minutes from San Marco Square so every evening, after dinner, we walked down to the square to listen to the small orchestras playing outside the restaurants. A perfect end to each perfect evening. Breakfast was 'cozy' but we were prepared for that. A different receptionist seemed to appear every time we came back to the hotel, all of whom were pleasant, helpful and ready to give any info regarding your journey home. We took the water bus from the airport, literally less than 10 min walk from the port to the hotel. Watch out for the Tourist Tax on leaving when trying to use up all your euros. And be prepared to use cash in the small, often better, restaurants.
I did suffer from mosquito bites (but that's standard for me) but only on the last evening. if you are a mosquito sufferer, take some spray for those ankles and wrists - there's a lot of water about!

Room Tip: The rooms are very small in this hotel. We went for a 'superior room' and this was still qui...

We stayed one night in June at this hotel. Like the location and it met our expectation for a 3 star hotel. The Venetian design in the room was nice as well.

Pros:
Convenient location between the Rialto Bridge and San Marco Square. Very convenient if you arrive with luggage by the Aliliguana boat (15 Euros) from the airport. Get off at the 2nd Rialto stop (the one just after you go under the bridge) and it is a 3 minute walk to the hotel. They do have an elevator although it does not go to the top floor of the hotel so you still have to carry your luggage up one flight. We had a nice view of the Campanielle tower from our window in our room. It was nice having the continental breakfast included so we did not have to deal with finding a restaurant.

Cons:
The room we were in had a shower with a very low slanted ceiling above it so it was like playing Twister taking a shower. The beds were not overly comfortable but we slept well anyway.

Overall:
Expensive hotel for a 3 star but they all are in the San Marco area. We would consider staying there again due to the location if we get back to Venice.

It was a terrible exeprience last weekend (20th May 2012). We have bitten by bugs everywhere. The hotel seems ok, but just wait to spend one night at Gorizia a la Valigia. We are still under treatment, corticoids, creams, etc to stop the inflammation after being at the Gorizia. The worst part: the bugs are now on our clothes and suitcases, we are back in Argentina with the insects from Venice. Terrible experience, NEVER GO THERE. NEVER.
