We had no idea what to expect because this time we did not really had time to look at reviews or to understand where we are going. Not to say that hearing this is an ex “abbazia” we were completely lost.

Well, this was a wonderful place, clean, relaxing, calm … Have I said very clean? Yes, the rooms are simple and making you feel a little bit the past usage of the place but I loved it. The only let’s say minus for them would be the fact that if you do not eat any meat, the breakfast is very poor: some cheese and some brad with butter but no fresh vegetables or other options. Buuut they do have delicious bred and croissants 

Not to say they are very well located close to the Gran Canalle and Rail station and the Piazza where the airport shuttle will drop you.

So, if someday I will be able to go back to Venice I will definitely consider going back to this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for a week end during the Carnival period, and the choice of the location proved to be convenient: the hotel is just a short walk from the railway station Santa Lucia in a relatively quiet corner away from the crowds of the busiest areas during that period. In front of the station there are the vaporetto stops, or if the weather is good, crossed Ponte degli Scalzi you can take a walk and reach Piazza San Marco in about 20 minutes.
The hotel, housed within the walls of an old abbey, is overall pleasant with a style reminiscent of the original building. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom with window and fully equipped (with shower, mirror with lights and plugs, radiator / heated towel rail and a set of complimentary toiletries). I would point out that in the rooms, at least in ours, there is a lot of upholstery (curtains, fabric headboard, fabric wallpaper), which could be a problem for people with allergies. In our room there were also a desk with tv, a mini-bar, a coat hanger, a large wardrobe, a couple chairs, and a small single bed that we used as a sofa. Last but not least there was plenty of space for our luggage.
Breakfast is served in a room with a dozen tables, when weather is good I think the inner courtyard is used too. There's a good selection of pastries, a bit more limited the selection of salty foods even though the large presence of foreign tourists perhaps more used to eating salty food for breakfast. A distributor is available for cafeteria products, I would say that it would be preferable an espresso machine managed by the waiters.
The staff is always polite and willing to give you all the information you need.
Overall value for money, considered the peak season for Venice, can be said good.

Excellent hotel, very well located. It was spotlessly clean. The service at the front desk was extremely good. The organization at breakfast needs sorting out but this was our only complaint. The public rooms were well appointed and the garden will be beautiful when finished as work was being carried out there during our stay. I would return anytime.

Room Tip: We had a standard room which was more than adequate for a short city break.

Third time in this hotel. It's clean, it's convenient and the service is excellent! Matteo and Mirko.....on the front desk deserve a medal, nothing is too much trouble for them and they always make us laugh. Our room was a little more snug than on our two previous occasions but the hotel was full! That's the success of Tripadvisor, I suppose. Shared this gem of a place with too many other travellers.

We recently stayed at the Abbazia for 5 nights while we visited Venice. This hotel was recommended to us by some friends who actually held their wedding there a few years ago. We loved the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Our room was big with decent wifi access. We loved the location away from the San Marco area. It gave us extra opportunity to explore other parts of Venice. In addition the staff provided us with excellent recommendations for restaurants.

The bells of the church next door do ring at 7:30 AM, but then we knew what time it was and could sleep for another short time! The breakfast was included and very generous. An additional feature worth mentioning is that you are literally one block from the train station and maybe two blocks from the bus station, thus making it easy and convenient to travel again.

We recommend this hotel without reservation.

Had two rooms booked here in Nov 12 for post cruise stay in Venice with my partner, sister and mother. Hotel is literally a two minute walk from the train station (and about ten minutes from the monorail stop you come to from the cruise port - beware a large bridge you have to take luggage up and over if walking with cases!). Outside of hotel was being refurbished when we stayed so couldn't see the building unfortunately but very atmospheric inside. Lovely central hall with comfy sofas and wifi. Rooms were pleasant if not quite as contemporary/deluxe as the photos on some booking sites make out, perfectly nice though. Staff very friendly indeed, we arrived quite early on arrival day c. 9.30am from our cruise and they said while our rooms wouldn't be ready till the afternoon we could leave our (copious amount of) luggage and were welcome to take breakfast in the restaurant! This was a lovely treat as we had to leave our ship very early and hadn't had chance for breakfast so this was very nice. A selection of ham/cheese/cakes and pastries etc and a wide variety of drinks from a slightly temperamental machine in the corner. We went out for the day and collected our keys in the evening and they had even taken our bags up to our room for us already, I was most impressed. There is a waterbus stop right outside as you are next to the train station but we walked each time in and out of central venice (about a half hour at a leisurely pace) and managed to take a totally different route every time! There are lots of little shops and cafes etc along the main road that runs from near the hotel along the main canal side toward the Rialto bridge including a supermarket where we picked up a few drinks and snacks for the room which was handy.

Overall a great stay and while the rooms are not wildly luxurious, the place has a lovely homely feel to it and the service was top notch - I would definitely stay again.
