“Small and almost perfect!”
Reviewed 11 August 2008

This is not a grande hotel by any means but what they do they do very well. Lovely helpful staff, spotlessley clean. We had our towels changed twice a day and the pillowcases every day this was most welcome in the August heat!. We booked 2 rooms one standard which was a few feet from a brick wall! It was no problem when we asked to change. The other room was a superior and faced the lagoon. It was a beautiful view, but be warned this is a very busy waterway and street and therefore noisy ,but there was always plenty to look at including the odd ocean liner going past your window! Stay here if you like good quality unpretentious hotels. In a great position 5 mins from St Marks square and a few yards up from the Danielli.

I stayed at Locanda Vivaldi for 4 nights by the end of July first days of august: I really like this Hotel!
Room was very clean and bright full and every afternoon they left you a small chocolate on your pillow and weather forecast for the day after.
We didn’t book a frontal double superior with view on the lagoon, but our standard room has a nice view on a side canal Rio di Grecci and we could partially see the lagoon and the Salute Church…very nice!
Breakfast is delicious: eggs, ham, cheese, fresh bread and toast, marmalade, pastries, cakes, cereals, yogurt…everything! And the capucino…mmm…I love Italian capucino!
All the staff at reception is very kind, at check-in time they spend more than 15 minutes with us explaining what to visit in the city and answering at all our question: we got a free map of the city and a small book, guest in Venice, full of information about everything: museum, transportation, music, churches, imetables, history…everything!
They also arrange for us for train tickets to go to Florence, without asking us any extra fee or commission.
Very nice is also the terrace on the third floor: we had aperitif there with the most beautiful view you can imagine!

We will definitely come back…thanks!

I stayed at the Locanda Vivaldi last July, for a vey special event: the marriage of my very best friend!
We were a small group of 14, but only 6 of us booked a room in this beautiful Hotel: we all reserved double superior room with Jacuzzi and view on the lagoon.
From our rooms we can see the Lido island, Saint George island, the Salute Church and the Doge Palace and the famous church tower.
Saint Mark square is really close to the Hotel, only a few minutes walking.
Every day we had a delicious breakfast in the nice breakfast room on the ground floor and all the staff was always very kind with all of us.
My friend got married in the beautiful Palazzo Cavalli, then we reach Saint Mark square by Gondola and after we took pictures we went back to the Locanda Vivaldi.
Here she organized her wedding reception on the wonderful rooftop terrace of the Locanda Vivaldi: this is not a big terrace but it’s the ideal place for a private party for 15-20 person, here they also have restaurant service in summer time, but only for dinner.
The view from the Terrace is fabulous and we really enjoy the lunch especially prepared for her marriage.
During our stay in Venice we visited the Peggy Gugenheim Collection, next to the Accademia art Gallery ( this is really fabulous!), the Rialto area and the Ghetto.
We follow the suggestions of our food’s guide book “chow!” and we went to: la Riveta Restaurant, Il Refolo, the famous La Madona and the one Michelin star Da Fiore. We Loved all of them!
Next to Rialto Bridge, close to the market area there are very nice places to have an aperitif with the typical venetian “cicheti” (fingerfood) : get a table in front of the Gran Canal!

I love Venice in summer time…I hope to come back soon!!!

I visited Venice with my husband and our teenage grandaughter in June; we stayed three nights at the Locanda Vivaldi. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and furnished, as is the hotel as a whole. My huband and I had a room overlooking the lagoon which was lovely, our grandaughter was a little dissapointed that her room overlooked a bit of garden. This hotel is ideally situated to visit St Marks and most of the essential sights of Venice; I would have no hesitation in recommending it. We especially enjoyed being able to arrive and leave the hotel by water taxi, the turn down service and the breakfasts.

What a wonderful stay we had @ The Locanda Vivaldi Hotel! Both my husband and I were impressed by not only the cleanliness and beauty of the hotel, but the wonderful, professional, and friendly staff members. Our room had a magnificent view of Venice. Thank you for making my trip to Venice a dream come true.

We were able to book this wonderful hotel ourselves. We had a party of four with 2 teenage boys and were able to add a rollaway in the second bedroom-a bit tight, but certainly hotel was very accommodating of our needs. Very clean and in excellent physical condition. Location is perfect-very close to St. Mark's Square and other landmarks. Very nice breakfast buffet in morning and evening reception on rooftop with great view. We would highly recommend to all kinds of travelers!

We actually booked based on Trip Advisor ratings and reviews, so thanks!!!!

Just back from Venice with an 18 and 23 year old. We stayed at this wonderful hotel directly on the Grand Canal and just 500 yards from Piazza San Marco for 2 nights and enjoyed every minute. Locanda Vivaldi has it's own dock so very convenient for the motoscafo {water taxi} to deliver you right to the front door. Beware that the motoscafo are very expensive; $65 euro from the train station and 95 euro to the airport, but a special treat arriving in style!
The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is served in a lovely room on the main floor and is complete with bacon and eggs along with cereals, juices, cheese and fruit.
The hotel has a lovely covered terrace on the top floor for boat and people watching along the canal. Our room had a balcony and it made the already beautifully decorated and comfortable room that much more special. The hotel is immaculate and the service first rate. We did not have dinner here with so many wonderful restaurants near by. One that I highly recommend is one that many contributors have already recommended and that is Trattoria della Rivetta, just a 6 or 7 minute walk from the hotel. It is a favorite of the gondoliers and it's no surprise as the food is delicious and the staff very friendly. Another restaurant that I often patronize in Venice is MADONNA, on the other side of the Rialto Bridge, down the second calle "alley" on the left. Very good seafood, friendly waiters. We also visited the Peggy Guggenheim Collezione in Dorsoduro, a short walk from the Accademia Bridge with a wonderful collection of modern art; including Picasso, Jackson Pollack, Dali, Calder, Henry Moore and many others. The people of Venice know that their #1 industry is tourism and treat visitors very kindly, especially if one makes the simple effort with buon giorno and grazia!
