“NEVER STAYED BECAUSE TRIP WAS CANCELLED DUE TO DEATH”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

I did not stay here because trip was cancelled due to a death of my husband's Mom. Cancelled on the 8/14 and due to arrive on the 15th. My travel agent tried very hard to get a refund but the hotel would not issue any refund or credit. I know they have a policy but this was out of my control. Just to let everyone know if you purchase a room they mean non refundable!! I feel it was unfair when tours, cruise, excursions etc were understanding. Yes I had trip insurance. Just for your info since I travel to Europe once a year.

This hotel was booked by our travel agent for a 3 day stay before a cruise.have read the reports I was very apprehensive about our stay but it turned out to be wonderful. We were taken right to the door by water taxi and the front of house staff were very helpful. Room was 203 which looked out onto the square. The room was very clean and well decorated the only negative being the close proximity of the hand basin to the shower door in the bathroom. We had to shimmy into the shower! Breakfast was OK and the hotel was ideally situated for the Rialto Brige a nd shopping area. The hotel itself is in a lovely square and opposite is a Michelin Star restaurant which we did not use but looked wonderful, a lovely coffee shop which sold delicious snacks and a snack bar which sold great food and wonderful Prosseco at 3 euros for a wine glass full. Also next to it was a wonderful supermarket ideal for buying water picnic food etc and very cheap.

This is a traditional Venetian hotel located in a quiet yet central part of Venice. My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights. It was definitely not cheap to stay here but as the hotel claimed to be 'Four Star' I was initially happy with the price I payed as I was expecting a high level of service and a comfortable stay. Unfortunately the staff and the facilities of this hotel disappointed us. Our room was tiny. There was so little space we could barely open the bathroom or bedroom door. The cleaners barged into our room each morning without knocking which made us feel uncomfortable. Although the breakfast was included in the price, which is always a bonus, on requesting a glass of water, the service was so slow that we decided to go to the shop instead. Finally the staff at the desk (not all of the staff - some were very kind and helpful) were rude and seemed to treat us differently from some of the more senior and more wealthy guests. We had planned to extent our stay in this hotel but decided instead to move. We moved to a nearby 'Three Star' hotel which we were extremely happy with.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not the size of a match box

The Santa Marina hotel was a great choice for my fiance and I. We wanted to stay in a hotel that was quaint and distinctly Italian and this was it. My wife especially loved the way the rooms were decorated. We booked a room as a part of a package that included breakfast and a tour of the island of Murano. The best part about the hotel was its location. Most sites were within a 15 minute walk (i.e. St. Mark's Piazza and the Rialto Bridge)

We booked this hotel for a one-week vacation in Venice and it proved to be a good choice. Initially I was quite upset for switching our hotel room with a nearby villa which they also own, but it really ended up as a better option.
Tourists who stayed in Venice's center should know that for such requests they usually pay quite outrageous charges and get instead quite poor quality. Well, this hotel was neither of these. If we will go again in Venice, then I would definitely book again the Sana Marina Hotel.

Room Tip: better choose the villa accommodation if available, it is much quieter than the hotel rooms.

We stayed on our honeymoon for two nights in a standard double room. There was plenty of room considering that space is a premium throughout Italy. It was very clean. You could easily get to the Rialto bridge and St. Mark's square. The bathroom actually had a tub with the shower a vary rare thing for standard rooms in Europe most are small showers.
