“Sweet little hotel and great location !”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

I stayed there for one night in August 2014 as i have a short summer break in Venice. ( one night in San Marco and two nights in Murano Island). The hotel is a family run business and it is just a small place but very convenient as it is not far from the Realto Pier . It is about 5 min walk ( with no luggage ) from the pier so it is very convenient if you come from the Marco Polo airport and landed at the Realto Pier in San Marco island which is where the main attractions in Venices are. You can just take the public boat service (Alilaguna line) and it takes about 40 mins (4th stop from the airport ), after you get off the boat at Realto Pier just walk through the small alleys toward San Marco. If you come to Venice for the first time, you can get lost very easily so i suggest you print out the Google maps direction to walk to hotel. It is just about 400 meters away but trust me ,you can get lost and sweat as the small street in Venice is just too confusing. Location of the hotel is just perfect as you can walk to the Realto Bridge for shopping, and restuarants, and also get on the Gondola boat canal tour there too. It is also not far to walk to San Marco main tourist areas i.e. the palace, the Basilica, and get on the other islands from San Marco ( like Murano, Burano ) . One thing to remember to go to Venice, don't bring big luggage as there is no car taxi to get you to hotels and it will be a big burden to drag along the small street and walk up and down stairs along the canals !

The hotel itself is tiny, i had a single room which is very small - about 2 by 3 meters i guess but it has sufficient facilities i.e. bathroom, bed , closet, TV, hair dryer, luggage stool, small working desk. air conditioned. It was comfortable enough, and i could sleep with no problem although i can hear noise from street a bit as my room is on second floor facing the street. Breakfast was great and was included in the room rate ( i paid 85 Euro which i think was a good deal for San Marco area).

Staff was very friendly too, they helped me with some tour advice and also with luggage carry to the room. I had no complaints at all for this hotel and would recommend it to any budget travellers to Venice .

Room Tip: if you can get the room that is not facing the street, it will be quieter.

I stayed in this hotel with my family. Hotel is located in the main center if Venice 10min walking distance from Rialto or from San Marco Square.. Very Convenient location. Rooms are very neat and clean and very comfortable. Rooms are in Venetian style, which my family liked the most. The toilet and bathrooms are small, which we can understand as the hotel is in old building. Breakfast is really great for such a hotel and it's nice to start your day with a great breakfast. Staff is very polite and helpful. Hotel doesn't have elevators, but staff helped us in moving luggage to our rooms. Wi-fi is free which is also a plus point.
I will recommend personally HOTEL SERENISSIMA to those families who are looking for a good hotel with rateversesvalue verses quality, then this hotel is for them.
Tnks to the staff for making our stay comfortable.

The hotel is well located and has a friendly family atmosphere. However, I felt short changed when I paid over € 150 per night for a triple occupancy room that was so small that even two occupants would have found it difficult to fit in - with a bath that had you literally hanging out. In fact, we had taken another single occupancy room that was well sized and fitted compared to the triple occupancy room. Housekeeping was not upto the mark - sheet were not changed, beds were not made up etc. The furniture looked the worse for wear. The breakfast was fresh but limited in choice - no cereal, for example.

I stayed at the Serenissima with my husband and son. It was a little crowded, but that was to be expected. The room was beautiful, and the windows opened up over the street, which was quiet at night. The bathroom was tiled and updated. Breakfast was good--pastries, breads, eggs, meat, and cheese, coffee and juice (blood orange juice--great!). A sweet little elderly lady owns the hotel and makes the breakfasts--she's wonderful.
The only cons: the AC couldn't cool the room (we were on the 3rd floor, might not have been so bad down stairs), and the water in the shower was an adventure--ran hot--cold--hot. Other than that, it was great. The desk staff was great--very knowledgeable about local opportunities and helpful to guests.

Recently stayed here for two nights in July. The bed gave us two great nights of sleep - not too hard or too soft. The breakfast had plenty of options to fill you for a filled morning of wandering and exploring. The bathroom was clearly where they opted for updates. Very modern and sleek look to it. The shower temperature was a little hard to set. It would be a little cool or kind of too hot. So be prepared to adjust a few times during.

The only other con is the walk up and down each day. After a long day of walking and sightseeing it wasn't exactly fun to walk up three floors to the room. But really, the location being so close to Rialto and St. Mark's square make it worth the extra energy in the end.

This a very nice hotel in a good location. Not near all of the crowds but very close to st. Marks square and the rialto bridge. The hotel staff were very friendly and brekfast was very good. Our bathroom was very nice and the bed was perfect for us. I would definitely come back.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in June 2014. I must have read 50 reviews of hotels in Venice, searching for one with a reasonable price and decent rating, and I found it in Hotel Serenissima. It is easy to reach from the train station: take vaporetto 2 to Rialto and walk a few blocks. The hotel e-mailed me a map that made finding it pretty easy. We found the front desk to be friendly (especially Michele!) with very good English spoken. A great tourist map was provided at check-in, too! The first room we were given smelled like cigarette smoke, but luckily they had a second room to change us to (152) which was smoke-smell-free. The room was clean with older furnishings. The wardrobe/closet was large. The in-room wifi worked with good speed (but it took a while for it to connect the first time--weird). We found the hotel to be quiet with the windows shut even though our room was over the "street." We really liked the breakfast, which included the best scrambled eggs we had on our trip, plus bruschetta, mini ham-and-cheese croissant sandwiches, juice, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and good coffee. Cons of the hotel: the beds are *very hard* and sloped (I rolled over one night and fell off the bed), the pillows are hard and flat, and the small shower had hard-to-control water temperature (scalding to cold and back).

Other things to know: the A/C cooled the room to 73-74 F, you leave your key at the desk when you leave, and they cut off the electricity to your room when you leave.

While this hotel was not recommended in the Rick Steves Italy 2014 guidebook, there were two different Rick Steves tours staying there during our two-day stay.

If the beds and pillows were better, I would give this a 5 instead of a 4. Even so, I would most likely stay here again.
