“A great location”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

Hotel Belle Arti is conveniently located in a less touristy part of Venice. Nearby are shops, an ATM, restaurants, and gondoliers. It is an excellent value, serves a good breakfast, and has a friendly staff.

toilets locks are not safe. i had stucked in the toilet, lock was not working properly, one staff of the hotel rescued me, so if you are alone in travel, take care about your toilet lock, because many toilets have no intercom.

Room Tip: higher floors are less noisy.

When booking accommodation at the hotel Belle Arti in Venice, make sure you have secured rooms in the main hotel itself. My friends and I booked two rooms at the Belle Arti in May and found ourself across the road in a very average hotel which serves as an annex to the main hotel. There is no concierge, no reception, no security - in fact, no services at all! Wi-fi has to be accessed in the lobby area of the main hotel. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke which had permeated the bedding and the linen. It still reeked after three days.... Facilites at the main hotel are fine, breakfast is average and there is an outdoor area for when the weather is fine.

Room Tip: Avoid the annex!

quoted a rate of EUR160 per night for 6 nights and was directed to the sister hotel, Domus Cavanis which is located in an old, run-down building across the street. there is no security, no reception or whatsoever, the walkway to the lift is dark and erie, even the lift stinks.
the room was totally unlike what is in the pictures posted on the booking websites - the shower door was spoilt, the phone was not working, there is no safe in the room, there were bugs flying around in the room and TONNES of mosquitoes. i complained to the staff and manager which they replied dismissively and irritably that the bugs are common. i requested to check out earlier because the room was not liveable, offering to just pay the penalty but was simply met with a NO from the manager who said the full reservation cost is payable. when i refused to hand over the credit card for payment, she took the printed confirmation and proceeded to key in the credit card numbers and charge the payment without my card!!!! terrible staff manners, worse from the manager! i have stayed in hotels/motels/hostels across many cities but never have i encountered such a terrible one. in short, STAY AWAY, there are wayyyyy much better hotels at the around the area.

Room Tip: Avoid At All Costs!!!!

I stayed 4 days this month at Belle Arti. The location is perfect for the ones who prefer to avoid San Marco and who prefer Dorsoduro. This hotel is perfect for sunny and warm months : there is a nice small garden, and a confortable lounge outside (rather rare in Venice). I got a very small rooms for the first night, and was really disappointed; I then asked for a room with view on the garden and got a rather big and well decorated room. So check the room at arrival. The rates are acceptable for a 3 stars hotel in Venice. The front desk team was mostly just unfriendly and of no great help.

Room Tip: Ask a room with view on the garden.

The hotel is very conveniently located next to the boat stop. The garden and hotel have a nice ambience. However, the service was generally very poor. When we arrived it took about 25 mins to check in despite the fact were the only people there due to staff ignoring us, phone calls etc. The breakfast was adequate, but the room was became very crowded. The room was adequate, but the bathroom was very compact. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning had to be turned on centrally. The big negative was that the fire alarm went off persitently one night 12-1 then 3-4 and then again at 5. Not good. We prepaid, but then found that we have to pay taxes of 15 Euro separately. Why wasn't it included? I would recommend going elsewhere unless you have some compelling reason to book at the Belle Arti.

We stayed here for three nights while in Venice, the location of the hotel is super and very close to the Accademia ferry stop. The room we were given for three people was far too small and felt very cramped, as well as that the air-conditioning in our room was not powerful enough for the 38 degree weather. However, the courtyard was a lovely place to relax and they served a very decent continental breakfast.
