“A real gem!”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

We stayed at the Bucintoro for 3 nights at the end of November as a weekend break for my partner's birthday. Before we travelled, I was in regular contact with them to ensure my partner's dietary requirements were catered for (Coeliacs disease) and to arrange a bottle of prosecco to be on ice in our room for his birthday and they did not fail! As soon as we walked into this small hotel, the only word we could use was "Wow!". Extremely friendly, accommodating and very helpful staff. The room was immaculate, very well equipped and beautifully presented. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the room, which was a bit of a novelty as previous European breaks we have been on to Paris & Barcelona did not! Breakfast was continental buffet and came in abundance! Speciality bread and muesli was provided for my partner and nothing was too much trouble for the lady (apologies we didnt get her name) who prepared, presented and catered for us a breakfast.
Located overlooking the lagoon and just a few minutes walk away from the hustle and bustle of the main sights, it is close to the public transport (around a 2 minute walk) and approx 10 minute walk away from St Mark's Square.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Venice.
As a side note, and nothing at all to do with the hotel, anyone needing to follow a gluten free diet (coeliacs) may struggle to find somewhere to eat! We had a tough time and ended up buying biscuits from the local shop and sourcing the only McDonalds in the city for the chips! We found one restaurant which advertised GF pasta but the basic accompaniments (bolognese) was not gluten free and did not find anywhere that had gluten free pizza.

This hotel is in a fabulous location. It is about a three minute walk to Piazza San Marco and the hotel itself has wonderful views of the lagoon. You can open the window and just enjoy the view. The AC worked well, rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. I didn't find the rooms to be that small compared to other Venetian hotels. The elevator however, was super small and could barely fit me and my luggage. However I didn't think that was an issue. It's just the way it is! Would stay here again!

Fantastic staff and service. Very helpful with some non-hotel issues we had with mail and transport. Rooms were beautiful, well appointed and spacious. Location is great with a great view of the grand canal and away from the hordes of tourists when a little serenity is in order.

Stayed at Hotel Bucintoro in mid September and were glad that we chose this hotel. The location was great and a short walk from San Marco Square but away from all of the hustle & bustle. The room was small, but very clean, comfortable, and all rooms have a window with a great view. A good breakfast was provided with a very attentive staff. The hotel staff were also extremely helpful & polite making sure that you always had everything you needed.

Hotel is well-kept and maintained, and the staff is extremely helpful with everything from directions to dinner and concert reservations. Rooms, however, can be cramped, even by Venetian standards, although they are stylish and interesting. (The nautical decor sounds better in print than it is in actuality.) Breakfast was good, with excellent service, although it gets boring with the same things every day. Location, however, is first-rate--steps from Vaporetto and Alilaguna stop and within walking distance of everything from San Marco to Rialto. And, it's far enough away from the major tourist attractions to give you quiet when you need it. And, of course, if you get a room with views, they are remarkable. Overall a good place, but, like everything in Venice, it seems overpriced. But, all in all, it's worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for room with views, and if possible cross ventilation.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this hotel, but I'm glad I stayed here. Any hotels in Venice with a view will cost you an arm and a leg (usually > 450 Euros), but I booked a junior corner suite with views on two sides for only 370 Euros! One side of the room overlooked the city towards the Piazza San Marco and one side overlooked the water. The hotel staff was friendly and eagerly provided us directions and help with our bags.

The hotel room was clean, the bathroom was marbled, and best of all, the shower water pressure was strong and hot! The location of the hotel was excellent, it was along the same path as the top hotels in Venice (hotel Danieli), but far enough from the big tourist spots so it's not too noisy. Hotel had free wi-fi and connection was very good.

The breakfast was decent with pastries, cheese, cured meats, cereals and lots of fruits. I believe you have to pay if you want hot food.

I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: ask for the corner junior suite
