Do not go for the cheaper rooms as they are no bigger than a shoe box! We ended us asking to pay extra as we could not get around the bed with our cases. We were on a 2 month trip over a number of countries so we did have 2 very large bags! Even small suitcases would have been a struggle. The next room was a much better size but the "lounge seating " was not comfortable and really a bit disappointing. It has all the makings of a wonderful unique hotel but in some rooms it definitely falls short. The breakfast staff were a delight and the various desk managers were efficient and helpful with a good sense of humour. I would return to the hotel armed in the knowledge of the larger suites being really the best option.

Room Tip: Don't book a small room it is an oversized broom cupboard!

We stayed here for 3 nights and I had 3 nights of poor sleep (and I am a person who can sleep easily, anytime and anywhere). In fact, it's the worst sleep I've had in recent memory. We had one of the suites and the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. Our 'queen' bed was actually two twins put together, so my husband and I could not be close to each other since one bed was slightly higher, causing an uncomfortable break down the middle. Given the price per night for this hotel (especially during peak season), I find this to be unacceptable.

The hotel had free wifi which worked rather well; however, you have to constantly re-login if you put your phone or tablet down for a few minutes.

A positive is that the rooms are very clean and well maintained. The hotel is quiet and has an elevator. The air conditioning works very well, which is a major plus during the summer in Venice. It's not the most centrally located hotel, but it does have a nice view of the lagoon.

The staff and service are flawless! Everyone was incredibly polite and helpful. The breakfast was very nice (and the breakfast staff were absolutely wonderful). I can't say enough nice things about the staff and their professional and friendly service!

We chose the Bucintoro for its location. The hotel is very close to the Arsenale vaperetto stop, as well as the line for the cruise terminal and airport, and a 10 minute stroll to St Marks Square. Its location (by the posh yatchs) on the Grand Canal, mean that it is very easy to find - no trundling around the back streets of Venice searching for our hotel for us!

We booked a standard room, but it was spacious, cool (in temperature), with fabulous vews over the grand canal. Reception staff were very hospitable and communicated well in several languages. We were able to check in well ahead of our check-in time.

I read several complaints about breakfast quality, but I fail to see the cause of complaints. The coffee was made fresh; there were several juices available; fresh fruits; cereals, choice of bread and cheeses; sweet and savoury tarts etc etc. You do have to pay extra for hot food, but we did not feel this was necessary during our 3 night stay.

There are plenty of food and drink establishments nearby, many enjoyed by locals. We loved wandering around the local area.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Bucintoro and would return in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: The standard room - we had 103 - was spacious, with good views of the Grand Canal.

My wife and I had a very pleasant 3-night stay at the Bucintoro a couple of months ago. Originally, after hunting for reservations for a few nights prior to our cruise, we had tentative reservations for another well-rated hotel in Venice. However, after some reconsideration of the location and views, we settled upon the Bucintoro, and are very glad that we did. As others have noted, the hotel is near the entrance to the Grand Canal, with an incredibly marvelous view of the Piazza San Marco. It is located within 5-10 minutes' walk of the center of tourist activity over a few bridges, yet is very quiet. Since we were coming from overseas, I wanted to be sure that our reservations were in order. Giuliano Melis, the hotel manager, was very kind and polite to help us secure the room type we wanted and reassure us as to the dates. We stayed on the top floor, a charming attic-style room with a separate sitting area that was well furnished and had access to a rooftop deck with a retractable awning. We just melted in this place, watching the ferries and yachts come and go directly below while marveling at the sights of the world heritage city of Vence. Breakfast was not extensive, but high quality and with any type of incredibly delicious Italian coffee, expresso, latte, or cappuccino desired. I had thought we might order the optional addition of eggs, but we always felt completely sated by what was offered as well as the wonderfully cheery "buongiorno!" to start our days. Giuliano also helped with directions (near the Arsenale water stop, from the Marco Polo airport). We were traveling with large bags, but fortunately did not have to traverse more than one bridge with steps + ~100 yards (a bit more for the walk between the airport to the ferry terminal - btw, be sure to validate your ticket on the boat to avoid potential fines!). We would love to stay in this moderately-priced hotel again in the future when visiting Venice, and recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Ask for view of Piazza San Marco, top floor if available.

We searched Trip Advisor and found Hotel Bucintoro. We are a family of 3 generations traveling together. Our daughter and her husband had Family Room with connecting rooms with their sons ages 10&12 on the 4th floor. Both rooms panoramic views of waterfront and St Mark's Square.

We were celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary and opted for room 501 with an outstanding room AND a private roof top balcony with cushioned chairs and footstools and roll top awning and 360 view. All 6 of us ended our evenings on the balcony.
One of the windows in our room was a portal like on a boat and we got photo of Venice from the portal that is framable(photo below).

All rooms free WiFI, air conditioned, smoke free, separate showers and bathtubs ,elegant woodwork paneling , robes, luxurious linens ,and safes.Designed like Officers quarters on elegant boat.

The location could not have been better. We came by train and took vaporette (water bus) outside train station directly to Arsenal stop only 100 meters from the hotel. Leaving ,we took a water taxi to the airport. Had to walk 10 minutes at most from water to air terminal. It is located in authentic area of Venice vs tourist area. Yet ,St Marc's square is only a pleasant 10 minute walk. The area is quiet but still in heart of Venice.

We were able to take vaporettes from near our hotel to all the other sights including Lido beach (7 miles white sand). We purchased 48 hour unlimited pass. Such an easy inexpensive and pleasant way to travel!

Breakfast was wonderful with homemade pasties ,quiches ,cereal, hard cooked eggs, fruit ,etc.
They even made us cappuchinos and the boys hot chocolate.

The staff and concierge very helpful and always available . With only 20 rooms outstanding service.

Great place for a family or a special occasion!

Room Tip: Room 501 very unique with the roof balcony. The family room perfect for 3- 4 persons. Fourth floor...

Pros:
- the view was stunning... looked over harbour and was literally like a postcard.
- clean room - decor was 'nautical'
- nice breakfast though a bit minimal in variety
- good location - walking distance to sites and right beside Arsenale boat stop
- away from the crowds and closer to the quieter quainter alleyways

Cons:
- A/C did not work - 25-26 degrees in room the entire time. Staff not helpful in resolving.
- Staff was not friendly or particularly helpful. At times abrupt.

We stayed here in June of 2013 as we travelled about Italy & France. It was a very convenient location to get to most every area of Venice. I bit removed from being right in the middle of things, which we liked, and directly on the Grand Canal, so of course wonderful views. Would recommend to anyone planning a stay to book an upper corner room as this is the spot to be. I understand all the rooms are designed to make you feel as though you are on a luxury ship and this one did for sure. Beautifully appointed, gorgeous wood throughout with marble bath. Very enjoyable.
