“Perfect Location, Friendly Staff”
Reviewed 22 July 2011

We stayed 3 nights after a cruise. The location was perfect (1/2 block off the San Marcos Canal--Vaparatto stop is also right in front of the alleyway) and two bridges away from San Marcos Square. Staff was really helpful and friendly. Nice bkft every day. Wifi was slow (as it was everywhere in Europe) but free. Very clean and up to date, but nothing fancy. The mattress (as everywhere we've stayed in Europe was REALLY hard). Very nice sized room for two with extra chairs. Looked out over the open alley way that fronted the hotel.
A/C was wonderful to come back to after the HOT days we had while there. Small but adequate elevator. No exercise room or spa. Didn't need to try room service.

We unfortunately only stayed one night, but it was wonderful. The location could not be more convenient to to the vaparetto water buses. This convenience is a major plus in a city with lots of steps and bridges and an incredibly confusing layout (that being said, the best advice I got before our visit was to spend some time getting lost away from the crowds).
The breakfast buffet was generous even by American standards. The service was always polite and helpful. Free internet access is another big plus. I highly recommend their apartments. They're on the same small, quiet square as the hotel, but offer a nice reprieve in an otherwise crowded city. From our apartment we looked one way out to the main waterway and the other way to a small canal where gondoliers would occasionally float by.
I would definitely stay again - and I hope I get the chance.

Room Tip: Ask about the apartments. We were upgraded from the hotel, but it looks like the price difference is...

Our usual Venice hotel was booked and I had a hard time finding anything convenient at a reasonable rate for the first week in July; the exchange rate makes everything much more expensive than it should be. The Campiello was recommended by friends; it is very conveniently located, plus being near our friends' apartment. On a quite street very close to the Riva degli Schiavoni and near San Marco as well, it is also very convenient to all the vaporettos. The only negatives I would have about the hotel were that the room was quite small, with one small chair and a desk without a chair that held the television, and that the bathroom sink did not have a working plug (common in Europe). The good things are its quiet, the efficient air conditioning (necessary in July), an excellent breakfast with a waitress who provided me with both a capuccino and cafe latte each morning, the desk staff who helpfully answered all our questions, the free wifi, the elevator, the nice chandelier in the room, and the good bathroom with a fine shower. Perhaps the bed was a bit hard, but we slept just fine. We felt fortunate to have the room during this busy season and it even tempted me to choose it over my usual hotel in Venice.

Room Tip: My Italian friend says a 3-star hotel should have two easy chairs for people to sit and review their...

We only stayed 1 night and while the room was a tad small for 4 adults, it was very nice and VERY easy to find from the Vaporetto. The AC worked wonderfully especially since it was over 90 degrees while we were there. The staff were extremely helpful, the breakfast buffet was very nice. I would certainly go back.

very nice room in a quiet location and close to St. Marks square and the waterfront. The hotel's location is a very short walk from the Alilaguna water bus stop. This is a big plus when arriving from the airport with luggage.

We really enjoyed or Venice stay and the Campiello hotel was one of the reasons. It is a very cute and extremely well situated hotel just around the corner of the famous Danieli hotel. The price is really competitive with nice rooms and a great breakfast. To take an early morning jogging trip to S:t Mark's place and then along the seashore is magical.

We have mixed feelings about this hotel. Our stay here was comfortable and the booking experience and getting there was no problem. It is located very close to St.Marks Square so you are right where all the action is. With the fantastic Vaporetto connectivity all over Venice, getting to and from this hotel was no problem. The room was large and spacious, clean and comfortable with lamps that looked like they were Morano glass...
The front desk folks weren’t exactly happy to see us... or so it appeared, but then they were the same way with all the residents. Cold! Yep that’s the word. They help you with what you need, but make it obvious that they are doing it coz it’s their job; that feeling of hospitality and warmth is missing.
