“Affordable Yet Nice”
Reviewed 12 October 2011

We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Da Bruno the first week of September. The hotel is a small, modest hotel, but is immaculate. We had a triple room that was quite large by Venitian standards. The staff are helpful and accommodating. Considering the cost of lodging in Venice the hotel was a comparative bargain. We booked through Hotels.com and received notification of a price reduction which worked out nicely. Although close to the Rialto vaparetto stop, the 5 or 6 blocks to the hotel can be difficult if you have a lot of luggage. It is within convenient walking distance of most of the main sights. The hotel also offers a computer station on each floor with free internet. This proved very helpful in confirming subsequent hotel and airline reservations. If you decide to take a gondola ride, we would suggest getting one from near the Santa Maria Formosa church area (a couple of blocks behind the Da Bruno) rather than the Rialto bridge area. Although the hotel staff sugested taking a gondola from Rialto, it proved to be crowded, noisy and the gondaliers seemed to be in a rush to get you in and out as soon as possible. There is a restaurant directly across from the Da Bruno that was good and reasonable.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so ask for a room on the first floor (second floor in the U. S.) if stairs pos...

Great little place super central in the old part of Venice. 5 minute walk from Rialto Bridge and 10 minute to St Marcs Square made it the place to stay and not overpriced at all. Beds are a little firm but overall very clean place to stay and offered free wifi. Price was great for that part of town as well and they have a nice luggage storage room with shower/bath since many people seem to come in early in the day or depart late as we did.

I found Hotel da Bruno on TA and was apprehensive. The staff e-mailed me several times before my trip and was incredibly helpful with porter and vaporetto arrangements.Their English was excellent. I was thrilled with my 4th floor room (no elevator). The value of this hotel was amazing. It is minutes from St. Marks. Staff was very friendly, helpful and breakfast was terrific. I will go back again for Carnival and stay at this WONDERFUL hotel. (The bathroom was a little tiny but it was an excellent price)

We stayed here for two nights before moving on to a cruise on the Med.
Arrived from England, and were met with a smile and the famous fruit juice which is so welcome after the outside heat. Room was ready, smallish, but totally met our needs. Great bed, cosy shower, quiet room and was a welcome respite from our walking and sightseeing in this eyeopening city.
Breakfast was normal continental style, but certainly ample, fresh and abundant.
Manager and wife very helpful, and also threw in a free trip to Murane Island (probably as a sales teaser for the glass works there). Returning from this was fun as we just got on the public transport and went to Buranop then back.
Location of the Da Bruno is great - very close to many shops and restaurants, if you want just a snack and beer, or full restaurant service.
Arranging water taxi to cruise ship was done by the Hotel, and carriage of luggae a short distance to the Taxi was done with a smile.
Great experience. Highly recommended.

Great location, extremely clean throughout, air con in room poor -not cold & just about a mild breeze, excellent bathroom & shower, average decor, mini bar, firm bed, staff generally miserable, 3rd floor small attic room, no lift, excellent breakfast, overall 6.5, would probably try somewhere different next time, but could have been alot worse.

We arrived at Hotel Da Bruno after a cancelled flight and a day at Paris airport to find friendly staff who were extremely attentive. They took our bags to our room, recommended restaurants, things to do (and booked them!)... Paolo was particularly helpful.
The hotel was in a great location, a short walk to the main square but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. The room (suite) was very spacious and had everything we needed. The hotel organised a great trip to Morano to see the glass blowing, which was a great experience. This was a one of the highlights from our honeymoon.

We liked the hotel, and the staff were so helpful and friendly. the rooms are nice, and the location is perfect. The only issue is there is no lift, so if you go, request one of the lower floors. Also, when you check in, if you need WiFi, you need to get a unique ID/Password for each device you want to use.
One more tip - you get a FREE trip to the Murano Glass museum from this hotel, in a private water taxi. this was a nice bonus. Just be prepared when you get there for a private tour and a hard sell for some amazing glass work. It was worth the trip. Once you are done, you can walk around the island.
