“A lovely oasis from the heat”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

Hotel da Bruno is in an excellent location just 5 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge. Our party of four arrived hot and sweaty after pulling our cases from the boat in sweltering heat. We were immediately greeted with glasses of cold orange juice and two burly young men appeared to whisk our cases up to the rooms (there is no lift). The rooms were of a good size and with efficient air conditioning. The reception staff were very helpful with recommendations of where to go and how to get there. The breakfast (included in our price) was excellent and with a wide variety of choice. There is also a luggage room where luggage can be stored after check out, this was useful for us as we had most of that day in Venice before making our way back to the airport. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Da Bruno for two nights while visiting Venice. The location was excellent a short walk to the Rialto bridge and St Marks Square. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, and even a supermarket close by. Location among the small streets was nice.

The hotel room we had was on level one right on the street which some other reviewers had complained was noisy however we did not find it too bad as we closed the wooden shutters which cut out most of the noise, if this is an issue for you request a room towards the back of the hotel.

The bedroom was adequate but the bathroom was veory small - normal for European hotels! Wifi was free but some complaints that no coverage in some rooms but ours was ok.

Breakfast was included - average continental, lacked variety.

Desk staff were very obliging, breakfast service staff (eg clearing tables, replacing buffet items which were low or out) not so good.

Overall experience - good average hotel.

We couldn't have been more happy with the accomodations and service at Hotel da Bruno. It is within walking distance of Rialto bridge, St. Marks square etc. and on a lovely small but lively street. We had a room facing the street which was a bit noisy as we didn't realise that there were shutters we could close but they kindly moved us to a room that didn't overlook the street for the rest of the stay. Breakfast was fantistic, lovely variety of fruit and pastries as well as amazing baked egg and ham tart. Coffee machine offered every variety you could ask for from Americano to Expresso. Many varieties of tea including my favourite Earl Grey. For toast toppings they had a variety of jams and nutella. What really stood out was the customer service of Igor at the front desk who went out of his way to help from running across the street to the shoe shop to get shoe boxes for the souvenir pasta we bought so it wouldn't get crushed when we continued our travels, to mailing on my husband's windbreaker which he left in the room. You really can't go wrong with this little gem of a hotel! THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY STAY!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face the street as it can be a little noisy at night

I stayed at Hotel Da Bruno, after another hotel made a mistake with my booking. Lucky me! I really enjoyed this hotel, where everybody was so nice, and made me feel at home. My room and bathroom was small, but absolutely perfect for someone travelling alone! Location is awesome - could easily go everywhere from there. Thank you for all the coffees!

I have just returned from a fabulous week in Venice with my Mother-in-law staying at the hotel Da Bruno. Everything about the hotel was fantastic including the location, service, rooms and breakfast.

The hotel is easy to find from the Rialto Bridge which is where we were dropped off as we had travelled in by water taxi.

The hotel organised free travel to visit Murano Island where we spent the day. Travel back was easy and only cost 7 euro.

Would definitely recommend

We stayed at Hotel Da Bruno for the fourth time in 32 years, the first visit since '93. We found the hotel to have been considerably upgraded, with more rooms, a larger breakfast area, and a broader range of desk services. To get to Da Bruno from the Rialto Bridge water bus stop, you will have to schlep your luggage over a couple of sets of steps, and navigate the narrow streets, but once there it is worth it. Once you figure out the route, you can get to San Marco from Da Bruno in a very few minutes. It is on a busy street, so try to get a room on the side street, which we found to be very quiet. The breakfast is generous and well presented. Ask at the desk for restaurant recommendations. Our room and its bathroom were quite small, but clean and adequate for our needs. To get to Marco Polo airport, we opted to take a water taxi, which picked us up in a canal about 50 yards from the hotel door. It was expensive, but for us worth it because we did not have to bring our luggage to the water bus stop at the Rialto, and it is much faster than any other mode of transportation to the airport. If we make it to Venice again, we'll stay there again.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms which face Salizzada San Lio.

My parents, my partner and I have just returned after 3 nights at the Da Bruno and I have nothing but good things to say! Our room was perfect, on the top floor, with two windows and a Juliette balcon to let in all that amzing Venetian sunshine. The air-conditioning in the room was a godsend as it was very hot during our stay.
The bathroom was small but perfectly formed with clean linen everyday if required.
The breakfast was gorgeous, featuring a range of breads, rolls, croissants, meats, cheeses, fruits, yogurts, spreads, coffees and juices etc.
The hotel is literally a 10 minute walk from both the Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square so is literally in the middle of everything you want to see it Venice.
On our final day the hotel ordered a water taxi to take us back to the airport and, as we were boarding, one of the sons who worked in the hotel came around the corner on his way to work. Not only did he stop to thank us for our stay but he also made us get in the taxi whilst he finished placing our luggage into the taxi. Now THAT is customer service as it was HOT that morning!!!
All in all, I can't recommend the Da Bruno highly enough, it really is a great little hotel for a break inVenice if you want to be near it all!

Room Tip: Room 259 is flooded with light from its two windows and balcony!
