“Great location and excellent staff”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

Hotel Flora was our Venice residence for 4 days last week. It is tucked away from the crowds, but so easy to find and incredibly convenient to St Mark's Square and the Accademia Bridge. It was simple to walk from here to anywhere we wanted to go. The staff is what makes this hotel special. The breakfast waiters were very friendly and knew us and our beverage orders after our first day. Same for the bartender--we had cocktail hour in the bar every day from 5:30-6:45 pm and he made sure to keep our drinks and snacks filled. The front desk staff gave us recommendations for dinner every evening and all of them were excellent; trust these gentlemen to send you for a great meal! We took advantage of the hotel's free water taxi to the island of Murano, which drops you at a glass factory where we watched a master make several art glass pieces. There is an attached art glass showroom which is filled with beautiful items. The salesman was very low pressure so no worries if you do not want to buy or buy expensive items. What a terrific experience. The hotel staff made our departure very easy as well; a porter took our bags from our rooms to a water taxi service they arranged for us to the airport. We would definitely recommend Hotel Flora.

Room Tip: Be careful of the birds and mosquitos in and around the courtyard. This is not unique to this hotel...

Really nice Hotel, good Location just a few minutes from San Marco Square. Originally furnished rooms, good breakfast and Gym available. Beautiful and quite little courtyard for breakfast if the weather is nice..

I booked this hotel for a surprise weekend away with my husband for our 1st year wedding anniversary. We booked the superior room overlooking the garden - and it was perfect - the room was large and had a beautiful outlook. The hotels style fits in with the rest of venice and it certainly has a romantic touch to it. The staff are so friendly and the location is amazing - literally a 2 minute walk from St Marks Square. The gardnen is like an oasis. We would definitely stay there again when we return to venice.

Room Tip: I understand from my parents who stayed there that some of the rooms are quite small but if you book...

" What can i tell you about Venice that you don't already know?", the painter Paul Signac once asked. Indeed,we are not just acquainted with the fine palazzi, magnificent churches and famous museums,we even know little details too; that Venice is also called "La Serenissima", that the Grand Canal is called Canl and not Canale, that a total of over 400 bridges span the canals and that the city has sunk by almost 14 cm in a 100 years. But does that mean we really know Venice? Probably not.

Venice is theatre where you have to look behind the scenery or scenes: its a treasure chest for which you solely need a key. The Venetians have this key- the family who run this pretty hotel "Flora",the Romanelli family. We found that the discovery to Venice's charms lay in the four walls of this abode. In the 17th century, the palazzo was a school of painting whose master is said to have known Titian personally. I am all a tingle already, nes pas?

The hotel interior with its stucco ceiling beams, mahogany beds, damask wallpaper and chandeliers also tell a story of art and culture, and right next door in Palazzo Contarini Fasan, there lived a lady, called Desdemona, who inspired Shakespear to write "Othello".

We took the advice of our hosts, the Romanellis to explore the lagoon on a fishing boat, before going sightseeing and shopping in the hidden galleries or enjoying a cooking class of "alla mamma". the icing on the cake is to spend enough time in the sequestered courtyard of the hotel. This is the finest stay ,we have ever experienced, ever
The location is an easy 60 km from Venice airport. Its charm is due to only 7 rooms and one suite. We were here while wedding photos were being taken and were gob-smacked upon congratulating the Bridal party, to be invited to the reception which was the highlight ,amongst many of our visit to the city. This place oozes, the exact serum that one needs whilst travelling. Bravo to the family and the bridal party.

We booked had a 3 day stay at the Flora for my wife's 50th birthday weekend, with our children aged 21 and 18. The hotel was just as I remembered it 25 years ago, dated but in a charming way. The concierge are also charming and very helpful. The Family suite of 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms was perfect. Breakfasts are excellent! The location is superb both for the water taxi to/from the airport and for exploring the whole of Venice. The hotel recommended a number of restaurants for dinner, made the bookings before we arrived, and made further recommendations for lunches which all proved to be excellent. Lovely small courtyard garden.

We could not find any fault with this hotel. It is located in one of smarter areas off San Marco. It's easy to find off the vaporetto. The garden patio is a lovely area to sit in and take a coffee.
The staff are all so pleasant and extremely helpful. We would have no hesitation in staying here again. But be aware this is Venice, space is a premium and the rooms may not be as big as one might expect for the price!

I think of this place every now and again and smile! The inner garden area patio is tranquil and beautiful. We ate a complementary breakfast here every morning and enjoyed our tea with great pleasure. It's just so incredibly charming! The location is supreme. Easy to find when the water taxi dropped us off. Just steps off of the main strolling thoroughfare that takes you to San Marco and gondola rides to the right --- and to the left and around the corner, a museum of musical instruments from the 1400 and 1500's. The staff was courteous, professional, and sometimes even debonaire. The room we stayed in was #32. Lovely view of the garden courtyard. It was a fairly modest room, but clean and charming. I highly recommend Hotel Flora.

Room Tip: Room 32 has a lovely view of the garden courtyard.
