“Perfect Location”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

We arrived in Venice by air, took the water taxi to the Ca'Rezzonico stop, then walked for 5 minutes to the hotel. Pleasantly surprised by the location, we were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our 1st floor room. The room was large, clean and well decorated in traditional style. The only disappointment was not having a full size bath. The breakfast buffet was as described and typical of hotels in this region. On leaving the hotel and exploring further we found that we were near a quiet square with a choice of small shops, bars, restaurant and an ice cream parlour.
We realised that the sights that we wished to visit were all within a 30 minutes walk.
All in all a pleasant hotel in a good location and certainly a place that we would happily revisit.

Room Tip: It would have been nice to look over the canal.

This hotel is simply wonderful. The rooms are charming and the service is outstanding. Mauro, our concierge, was very welcoming and helpful as well as the lady in the morning shift and the gentleman who works overnight (who was kind enough to make espresso for us at 4am, before we left to the airport)

One advice, if you wake up easily, try to avoid any rooms near the campanile. The bells toll even during the night.

We liked this hotel very much and would definitely stay there again!

This hotel was delightful. It was quietly tucked away on a side canal with private water taxi service available within 1/2 block from the hotel. The rooms were pretty and clean. Staff very helpful. It featured beautiful sitting room overlooking the canal that can used by the guests. located close to many wonderful piazzas and wonderful restaurants.

This is a very old building that has been tastefully maintained to a very good standard. Rooms are very quite and comfortable. It overlooks a small side canal and is close to some very nice local piazza's and restuarants. The old stairs are a really feature and not ideal for the elderly but form part of the character. The help from reception is perfect. It is my second visit and the friends we travelled with were equally taken by the hotel.

Quiet place, close to everything yet away from the crowds in Dorsoduro section of Venice. Close walking distance to vaporetto stops on Grand Canal and Lagoon. Does not provide a canal view from the rooms, but has a nice balcony in the sitting area overlooking the street and canal. Great ceiling paintings and Murano glass chandeliers add to the ambiance of an old mansion. Nice breakfast offers hot croissants, fresh pastries, jams, fruits, cold cuts and cheeses, juices, and unbelievably great coffee. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are large by european standards and have updated
bathrooms. Will definitely consider staying in Pausania again.

We have recently returned from five idyllic nights in this beautiful hotel. From the moment we arrived it was our perfect little oasis away from the crowds and heat of Venice in August. Situated in quiet Dorsoduro, the Hotel Pausania was just far enough away from the bustling heart of this incredible city, but close enough to walk to anywhere you might want to go.
We encountered friendly and helpful staff at every turn, from the friendly and approachable reception staff to the lovely staff serving the delicious breakfast. nothing was too much trouble. We were greeted with a smile by everyone and made to feel welcome from the moment we checked in.
Our room was up on the third floor, which gave us the opportunity to experience one of the most beautiful staircases I have ever encountered in a hotel. It was like walking in the steps of Venetians from time gone by. The lounge areas were elegant and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious ... I can highly recommend the sweet croissants.
Our room itself overlooked the rooftops of Venice and we had the one of the best alarm clocks in the world ... the bells from one of the nearby bell-towers waking us at 7am. The room was small, but perfectly fine for our needs and when you are staying in a 14th Century palazzo, size really doesn't matter a bit. The room was equipped with a kettle, coffee making facilities and a hairdryer and lovely old wooden furniture.
It was indeed a total privilege to stay in a beautiful old building like this, steeped in history, in what is without a doubt the most beautiful and awe inspiring city in the world.

We booked this hotel through hotels.com werent sure what to expect but from the moment we arrived we recieved excetional customer service from the gentleman at the desk (didnt get his name) He was most friendly on our late arrival, helpful with our luggage, gave us in depth information on surroundig sites i.e. where yo eat, closest grocery store to buy wine. Etc. Probably one of the friendliest people i have ever met. The hotel was unique over 700 years old but renovated. Couldnt have asked for a better location away from the buisiness but close enough to walk. Great breakfast buffet. Cleaniness was adequate. Were there for 2 nights before heading to Rome. Would definently go back!!
