Me and my partner decided to go to Venice and this lucky hotel was our home for 4 nights. I'll try and put this into points without going off on a tangent.
The location is perfect. Getting to the hotel is easy. Come out of the arrivals and turn left, walk for 7-10 minutes following the Alilaguna sign to the water bus stop. Get a ticket for the Blue line (15 Euros each) and get on. It can be busy and there's not much room for luggage so we had to rest the suitcase on our legs. The view from the bus isn't great if you don't stand. The journey take approx 1 hour as there are a few stops. Get off at San Zaccaria. The hotel is in sight as soon as you arrive. Less than 20 seconds walk. It is the hotel with a large monument in front of a man on a horse with some lions and a book,
The room itself is ok.We stayed in 104, which faces the back. Your views include a smoking area and a an alley way with a cat sleeping on a thrown out chair. The location is ideal. Ideal for water buses, and the local sights. The room had a long corridor, and double bed (2 beds pushed together). The smoking area was a small area downstairs with a table and chairs. The sleep was okay but was sometimes noisey from other rooms. One issue is when you come out the bathroom, there is a slight gap between the curtain and window allowing people from the next door to see you!
The gentleman wearing glasses who looks like someone from Hollywood movies who works on reception is very helpful. Gave us maps, tips and info. The breakfast is a problem. It is in the annexe which is is 30 seconds away from the hotel (turn right when exiting and 1st right again, and it's on the left). The second problem is the actual breakfast. Choice is minimal and did not taste nice. The woman was very unhelpful as we asked for toast, we were told it is impossible. i find it hard that that in this day and age, someone can't heat 2 slices of bread. We opted to buy breakfast for the remainder of the trip from a another hotel.
The holiday was fantastic. About 5 minutes away from Saint Marks Square. The front of the hotel becomes very very busy. The Bridge of Sighs is also very close. My tips are buy a Alilaguna bus ticket for 48 hours, leave early and catch a water bus from outside early morning to check out the Lido, Murano and Burano. We did the 3 over 2 days. Get lost in Venice, take streets and try and find your way back, it's fun. I would not stay here again, just because the breakfast was an issue. Transport can be busy and you may find rude tourists and also rude shop owners who insist in slamming the money on the counter instead of placing it on your hand. One last thing, Italian shops DO NOT refund, only exchange.

Just finished a 3 night stay at the Hotel Paganelli and really enjoyed our stay. Located on the water, directly opposite the waterbus stop, and only a 5 minute walk around the corner to St.Marks square. Reasonable price included a good and filling breakfast buffet every morning. The room was small (particularly as there were two adults and two teenagers staying in it), but we managed just fine. Beds were large and comfortable. Staff was helpful, particularly when we needed directions on how to get to the train station in Mestre when we were leaving. All in all, a great stay!

We stayed 21st-24th March, we booked a room in the main building. This hotel is very convienient, it is right on the lagoon front at the start of the Grand Canal next to St Marks sq, and straight in front of you as you get off the water bus from the airport.
From the front the hotel doesnt look that appealing ( not many of them do). however we were pleasantly suprised the lobby is very clean/ modern. our 1st interaction with the guy behind the reception upon arrival was very welcoming, friendly, went through all the usual hotel stuff, he created a very friendly welcoming atmoshere.
We had a room on the 2nd floor, upon opening the door we both commented on how small the room was, but that was soon forgotton as the room was very pleasant, well presented, modern clean bathroom, ample wardrobe/drawer space, fridge and safe. Along with a very nice terrace with table and chairs overlooking the courtyard along with the view of a bell tower, very nice.
bed was very comfy. breakfast was served in another building and again was more than adequate.
On our last day we checked out, the reception stored our luggage and we were going to go to doges palace (5 mins away) huge queue and was raining, there was a line for pre-paid tickets with no queue, so we went back to the reception logged onto the free hotel wifi, and with a lot of help from Marco the receptionist we managed to book ourselves 2 tickets and he printed them off for us, ( well done Marco great service).
Overall very pleased with our stay here, better than expected and would recommend a stay here.

After reading the good reviews I booked a superior double room. ground floor. We stayed in room 601. It was quiet. nicely decorated, clean and had a modern bathroom. The only problem with this room is that there is only about 25 cm space at the foot of the bed. Which makes it almost impossibe to squeeze between the bed and the wall with the televison hanging on it, to get to the other side of the bed.

Location is excellent, right next to Piazza San Marco and the place to take the vaporetto. Accomodations are also very nice. Some of them are in another building, closeby, the same place where breakfast is served. The people on the reception sometimes have only basic english. On breakfast they have some wierd table reservation rules, like keeping some table empty for some family with kids without ever checking if there was any guest with that profile.
