“Great location”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We stayed in the Annex just around the corner. The Annex is remodeled and was very modern but also small. The room had double paned windows and shutters. It wasn't a problem that it was small though. We were happy that it had an elevator for our luggage. It had a view of a small piazza and church and loved listening to the church bells in the morning. They had breakfast downstairs in the Annex that was okay but nothing to write home about. The staff was nice and informative and the vaporetto station was in front of the hotel. It was nice not to have to lug heavy luggage very far.

This is a very centrally located hotel near the Grand canal and not far (2 min) from boat stop (Zaccoria stop). We were staying in the annexe not far from the reception area. It was comfortable and the bathroom nice. Our room was extremely small and should have been cheaper than other large rooms.
Breakfast was the worst we had in four weeks travelling. No toast, recon. orange juice!
Short walk to St Marks square, bridge of Sighs etc.Get up early and go for a walk before the thousands of people decend on Venice for the day.

This hotel is owned by two brothers with two totally different personalities. Once they figured out we could communicate with them in their own language we received "almost" VIP service. The hotel is VERY old and the furnishings are probably the original ones. Our room was acceptable, neat but not superclean, and the tiny bathroom became our daily joke. But the location, waterfront in the Grand Canal, and the attention made up for all the other negatib
ve details. The cost was very reasonable, considering we made our reservations two days earlier. The staff did a great job caring for our luggage before check in and after check out. They also recommended some great restaurants. not the tourist oriented ones. (See my Oliva Nera review). Hope to be back soon!

Room Tip: We reserved via internet, no room options were provided. The owners speak little English. Maybe by n...

In most cases we leave reviews unanswered as they speak for themselves but since there’s a very obvious confusion with this one we just feel a few words for the sake of the truth are necessary.
The Paganelli was indeed owned by two brothers, until 10 years ago! Not only a new management, still within the family, took over then but also, the Paganelli brothers both unfortunately passed away several years back.
In the meantime several changes happened: without a decent English nobody could work at the desk and both the main hotel and the annex rooms, common areas and bathrooms were completely remodeled with elevators, internet connection, new refurbishment and décor. Furthermore, the Paganelli has now a partner restaurant and bar with an external terrace out front where it is possible to dine blessed by the view of the lagoon and St. Mark’s Basin.
For these reasons we believe the review might refer to October 2003 rather than 2013 as it is claimed to be! Everyone is invited to test this.

The Hotel Paganelli is located on the Grand Canal, situated on the Riva degli Schiavoni, facing the Isle of St. Giorgio and only a three minute walk to St. Mark's Square and the Doge's Palace. We had a very comfortable queen deluxe room with a view of the lagoon. The hotel has a restaurant and a roof top bar where you have a 360 view of the lagoon. The Hotel is also located right in front of the San Zaccaria vaporetto docks which makes for an easy transfer from the train station. The management was very pleasant and accomodating willing to store our bags before check-in and after check-out (before we departed for Marco Polo airport). A little expensive but ideally located...

This hotel is a 5* for location and staff. The room was very clean and nicely decorated.
The position of this hotel is perfect for seeing Venice and visiting the other islands.
The staff are very helpful and kind.
The only reason for the 3* is purely the breakfast. It was awful. A room with no windows, coffee from one machine which you a queue for. Fresh fruit was a bowl of apples. Croissants and rolls ran out. Cutlery ran out. Sorry but it's the truth.
I loved the hotel very much but I do enjoy a coffee in the mornings.
I probably would not stay again but I do recommend the hotel itself.
