“Great location”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We had a pleasant stay. Hotels in Venice are small and expensive, so the Hotel Orion proved to be typical in size and a good value for price. Staff were helpful when needed. The breakfast was typical Italian (don't expect much) but a big plus is that it is included with the room. The cappuccino was not bad either! Plenty of hot water and water pressure, a small safe for valuables in the room, and a location that is VERY close to St Mark's. Outside can be a bit noisy until midnight but that is to be expected in such a high traffic area. The Hotel Orion was clean enough, quiet enough, and friendly enough that we feel we received a good value for our money. The Wi-Fi service is adequate, but is the one area where improvements could be made (likely be adding inexpensive signal boosters). Please, please, please don't go to Venice and expect a huge, luxury hotel suite at these prices- it just isn't going to happen. Most importantly, we recommend that you view your hotel as somewhere to store your belongings and to rest in between your trips out exploring a truly magical city that you will miss like a dear friend once your trip has ended. If you do that, then the Hotel Orion will not disappoint.

Great location. Hotel room small by NA standards but as expected. Shower in bathroom in room 35 is poorly designed and leaves water all over. Beds quite comfortable. Air conditioned but as in all of Europe not quite the same as NA standards. The best was the fellow that was there at check in time. He was absolutely excellent. Went out of his way all week to make us feel welcomed. We had rented a wheel chair that was delivered and picked up from hotel and he handled it all for us. The rest of the desk workers were ok, but not as 'legendary' as this first fellow. They could/should watch and learn. Thanks for a great week.

This is as basic as you can get, no tea/coffee making facilities apart from an over priced mini bar. The furniture was tired and old, squint lightshade and squint mirror, placed in a position that made it impossible to see yourself in full view.

Not a room you would want to spend any time in and we didn't! Breakfast was much the same, the only cereal I saw was cornflakes and unless you like croissants, that was it really. I would not stay here again.

On a plus note, the guy at the reception was very friendly and helpful.

Just want to say thank you to all the staff members in the hotel. We stayed there for 6 nights. My parents, sister and brother-in-law like to drink hot water. There is no place to boil water in the room. So the staff brought hot water in a thermal bottle to their rooms every day. "Massimiliano" is specially sweet and greeted us with a big smile every time we dropped the key or passed the reception desk. He patiently explained the directions and showed us where to go on the map every time he was asked. The location of the hotel is great - less than 2 minutes' walk to the St. Mark's Square.

Just what we wanted. Perfect position for sightseeing. Room small but had everything we needed and the breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly. Good value for money and would recommend this hotel to anybody.

A pretty nice hotel, well placed. Don't be dissapointed by the reception. You will find small rooms and even a smaller place to have your breakfast. Nevertheless, a warm place. Good value for money. Lovely for couples.

I will be staying at the Orion hotel for the second time as the staff are great, rooms are just what you want for exploring and it ideally located for all attractions, but I have chosen to visit the Dolomite mountains and the pick will be from Tronchetta station I need help in find out how to get from St Marc Square to Tronchetta Station and by what as I am lead to believe there is more than one Troncheeta. Any ideas?

Room Tip: The room we had was opposite the Cartier shop. The shower room felt like it had heated floor which w...
