For my first foray into Venice, I assumed that the best option was to stay as close to St. Mark's Square as possible - this was one of the only reasonably-priced rooms available even remotely close to there, esp. as they have cheaper single rooms. There are both pro's and con's to this hotel. Pro: It is tucked into an alley just around the corner from St. Mark's, which means the convenience of getting to attractions, shops, restaurants and vaporettos within a minute. Con: It also means shoving your way past ridiculous hordes of people if you have baggage - this is the most crowded part of Venice. The fixtures/furnishings in the rooms are on the older side and the rooms are tiny, but you have everything you need, like air-conditioning and a hot shower, and I was able to get a decent night's sleep. Front desk was helpful enough and the included breakfast was a nice surprise, albeit spartan. I'd recommend this for a quick one-or-two night stay in Venice where you can be in the heart of the action and will probably never be in the room anyway, but not really for a longer stay. The rationale behind staying here is basically going to be whether you want to spend a lot more or are fine dealing with basic accomodations to save some money.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the 4th floor, as the lift only reaches the 3rd floor and then you have to walk around and take more stairs up, which gets annoying; The hotel is in an alleyway so there are no views or sunlight to be sought in any of the rooms.

The only good thing about the hotel is the location. Awful rooms that seriously need a revamp!! Smelly room, hard bed and tiny tiny room. Only stayed one night. Breakfast is very basic for continental. The guy on checkin was not friendly but got better as the day went on. Better accommodation available for better value nearby that doesn't make u feel the need for having a shower just standing in three room. The worst place I ever stayed.

My husband and I stayed here in mid August 2013. Fantastic location behind Hotel Danieli. The hotel was basic, clean with good air conditioning. Bed was hard but OK, Breakfast was basic with ham, cheese, cereal and good pastries, tea, coffee, juices. Grand canal glimpses from the window. WIFI only available in the lobby. Close to many eateries. Excellent coffee in cafe next door. Reasonably priced for Venice in peak season. Would stay here again.

Other than a convenient location this hotel is only rated a 3 star. Stayed for three nights after a cruise. You can take a water taxi from ship to hotel which is a short walk. Rooms were clean, bed very hard. Breakfast included but nothing special. Beware of hair dryer!! With converter we popped a fuse. Hotel hair dryer is only 100 watts. It was as strong as blowing out a candle. Travel a lot in Europe in the 4 star ratings have been okay until now. Staff was helpful.

To start off on a good note, the location of this hotel is great! It's within a minute walk from the water bus stop of St. Marc Zaccaria. The hotel is very small and the rooms have an awful smell (moldy, mildew, old carpet smell). The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. The bed sheets and covers looked old and somewhat dirty. The bathroom is stained, cracked and filled with bugs. The only good thing from the bathroom is that the water pressure from the showerhead is decent. Breakfast is very simple (ham, cheese, cereal, pastries). The Wi-Fi is only available in the small lobby. I would NOT recommend this hotel. Location is great but it's not worth it.
