“Flawless hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 November 2013 via mobile

Can't find any flaw of this hotel. The staffs are very friendly and professional. The hotel is nicely decorated same as the rooms. Bathroom is sparkling clean. Breakfast is excellent. There are many other fine touches, such as the complimentary water and snacks at the bar between 5pm to 7pm.

Venice itself is a beautiful and enchanting city but, many of its hotels can be a little challenging because of location or infrastructure (we have been to Venice before)... That is not the case of the Arcadia Hotel! This lovely gem is very close to the Guglie vaporetto station, about a 2 mins walk (maybe less). As soon as we arrived to the hotel we were greeted by Roberto who took care of our check-in and made us feel right at home right away! He is very charming, has a great sense of humor and also gave us excellent reccomendations to make our trip even better (thank you so much Roberto!!). The Arcadia Hotel is very modern, yet classic and stylish. It maintains it's Venetian allure. Our room was gorgeous and spacious (even for USA standards!) The bathroom was lovely, full of light and wonderful toiletries. Bed was super comfortable. Breakfast buffet was great (worth getting up early for!), with lots of yummy things to eat and drink. You can prepare your own mimosa! :-) Internet connection was very fast, something very hard to find in Venice. Luigi, the hotel manager, was quite wonderful as well. He was very accomodating and made sure that we were happy with our stay. Ah! I forgot to mention that the hotel is located in a great area (not touristy at all, which is very good!), very lively and with lots of cute shops (at much better prices than near St. Mark's Square), cafes and restaurants. In sum, I would definitely recommend this hotel 100% to my family and friends (and to you also! lol). We look forwad to our next visit to the Arcadia!!

The staff was really and I mean REALLY great. very helpfull, always smiling.. Service was great as well. The room was excellent. I really wasnt expecting this much but it was more than what I hoped forcomfortable, had air conditioning and wi-fi. I will stay at the same hotel if I ever go to venice again.

The hotel is in a very central part of Venice (5mins walk from Santa Lucia station) surrounded by restaurants and shops.
I was very surprised when I realised after my stay that this is a 3 star hotel because it was better than some of the 4 star hotels I've stayed at.
My single room was small but big enough for one person, the furnishing and the bathroom is very new and tasteful, and very, very clean.
The breakfast was hands the best I had on my 3 week trip.
The staff were professional and helpful, the manager (I think his name is Luigi) is one of the most professional and friendly hotel managers I've met.
I'm really happy I stayed at Arcadia as it made my trip that much better.

We chose this hotel based largely upon TA reviews, and had a very different experience.

First the good points:
Beautiful interior – modern, expensive-looking, with classic Venetian touches;
The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms look new;
King beds are firm and very comfortable;
Good breakfast and nice lounge area;
We loved the area (in the Cannaregio).

Bad points:
There was a constant VERY strong smell of plug-in air deodorizers in all the public areas. Later we figured out why.

We have travelled fairly extensively in Europe, and are used to the room dimensions. However, our first room (62) was extremely small – too small for the king-sized bed crammed into it in order to sell it as a “double deluxe.” They do list the “starting at” dimensions on the website, but the configuration of the room is such that it feels much smaller and you can barely move around the bed (perhaps a foot between the bed and side wall, and only bit more between the foot of the bed and the facing wall). The bathroom is a 3.5 feet wide galley, and washing your face in the sink gets water all over the floor. In both bathrooms we had, the fixtures were very crowded together.

There are no drawers or closets in the rooms, only some small “cubby” spaces and two rods with a few hangars for clothes. Hanging your clothes prevents the use of the only seating area besides the bed in some of the rooms.

Having seen the first room – which was facing the street, though we had requested otherwise in June when we made our reservations – we asked to be moved. We were shown a slightly larger room (still on the street), but there was a strong smell of mildew from the bathroom, so we elected to stay in the first room until another one came available. We discussed changing hotels, but weren't staying long enough in Venice to lose a day trying to find a new hotel. During our stay, we personally heard three other sets of guests ask to change rooms.

After two nights, a slightly larger room became available which had just been cleaned. We still had to live out of our suitcases, but it was a bit better so we moved into it. When we returned a few hours later we discovered that the cleaner’s sprays had temporarily masked a strong smell of bad cheese/sewage. We immediately reported this to Luigi. He told us that he had a touch of flu and couldn’t smell it. Next he suggested that perhaps it came from the restaurant downstairs (there was no such smell either out our window or in the surrounding neighborhood). It was not coming directly from the plumbing. Finally he gave us some spray deodorizer, as there were no other rooms available.

Between two types of room deodorizer, the room smell was manageable. It now seems likely that this odor problem was the reason for the plug-in deodorizers in the hallways and lounge and the constant overpowering “freshener” smell due to the number of them. We spent our evenings in the lounge to avoid the room smell, although the cloying “freshener” smell was irritating as well. I must repeat that there was no such sewage smell in the surrounding neighborhood. This is an issue that the Hotel really should look at.

Finally, in both rooms we occupied we could clearly hear the voices and the televisions of our neighbors. All in all, we found the hotel attractive and well-located (for us), but, in the end, very uncomfortable. We could not recommend it.

We stayed at the Arcadia Hotel in October. We found the rooms to be the cleanest of any hotel room we've ever stayed in, which is very important to us. Everything was emaculate. The room itself was small but cozy - what you would expect for Venice (our double room didn't have closets or dresser but that's ok). The breakfast was great - you had everything you could want for breakfast plus you could also have made for you a cappucino or macchiatto. The breakfast room itself is grand and very beautiful. The staff at the front were all very helpful and nice and made you feel right at home. Especially Luigi, who really went out of his way to make you feel welcome. It's amazing how the hotel will make the vacation that much better - we felt like this was our home away from home and felt very comfortable. The location was a bit out of the way of main sites but the area (Cannaregio) was a beautiful district to stay in. This was our favorite hotel by far of any we have ever stayed in. The best!

Room Tip: No dresser or closets in double room so be prepared to not unpack.

We traveled throughout Italy (Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, San Gimignano, Pisa, Rome) and of all the hotels we stayed, the Arcadia Boutique Hotel was by far the most impressive in terms of value, cleanliness, visual appeal and service. It may not look like much from the outside, but the renovated rooms and bathrooms were beautiful, as well as the dining area, where we had the most impressive breakfasts and cappuccino every morning. In addition, the staff is friendly and amazing in their service and recommendations. We will definitely be back!
