Returned 14.03.14 from a 4 night stay.
This is a lovely hotel in a good location. 2 minute walk from No 1 Waterbus stop on the Grand Canel. It is in a peaceful location and very quiet at night. The Hotel was spotlessly clean and the towels and bed linen changed daily although we did not request it.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
I would definately return there again and would not hesitate to recommend it to any of my friends.

This is the perfect place to stay in Venice. Very close to San Marco Square but off on a quiet, lovely, picturesque alley, with a water taxi stop right there (the next closest water taxi stop is San Marco), Our room looked out onto a magnificent ornately carved white marble church--so beautiful! The hotel staff were great--very attentive, super polite in an old fashioned way and very helpful. The very generous breakfast is fantastic--various fresh fruit options, breads and pastries, yogurts, eggs, cold cuts, and most wonderful of all, little panna cottas that were DELICIOUS. You can hear some street noise (there was some construction going on when we were there), but I'll bet it's quieter than most locations. The beds are VERY firm (as in maybe too hard--but that's a matter of personal preference)

This Hotel has everything that need to be comfortable not too fancy and an expensive place perfectly located within walking distance to San Marco Square and all the shopping boutiques. The breakfast very impressive juice, fruit, pastry, scrambled eggs, warm rolls....a wide selection. The staff could not be more helpful and lovely. I will come back in the future, I forgot to mention is right in front of the church of Santa Maria del Giglio.

Room Tip: Try to pick front rooms overlooking the church at the is the canal too much noise..!!!!!!!

This hotel filled all our needs: location, cleanliness and great service. The breakfast is more than adequate; a variety of cold options including freshly made breakfast cakes, and eggs and sausage for the American palate. As there are so many wonderful restaurants, we didn't mind that lunch and dinner are not available at this hotel. That could be a drawback to some travelers. Having a nightcap at the small bar was very pleasant after doing so much site-seeing. The rooms are not overly large, but are comfortable. The clean bathrooms provide for my liking a much-needed hair dryer. No need to worry about adapters. Cords to charge our IPhones were available as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful with excellent restaurant recommendations; some of which were also recommended on Trip Advisor. Outside the door of the hotel was one of many catholic churches where we were able to attend mass. We were there in the rain the first day. St. Mark's Square was flooded beyond belief. The hotel's location allowed us to get around the flooded streets--another plus. Thankfully the rain stopped, but streets were flooded.

Room Tip: An outside front room as in any hotel provided more light and overlooked the church. The hotel is on...

Having traveled to Venice many times, perhaps as many as 20, this is my favorite place to stay. Not fancy but not expensive, perfectly located off a lovely square, near a vaporetto stop, between San Marco and L'Accademia, an easy walk to the Rialto and right near La Fenice. The breakfast has recently become more expansive to include fresh fruit, lovely cakes, scrambled eggs, warm rolls....a wide selection. The staff could not be more helpful and lovely. I come here every year and prefer the front rooms overlooking the church of Santa Maria del Giglio.

Room Tip: The rooms are not huge and the single rooms quite small but the beds are very comfortable. I have ne...

So what do you need to know most about this hotel?

Is it well located?
Yup, it's about a five to ten minute walk from St Mark's Square, and about 100 metres from one of the many vaporetto (water bus) stops) which sits on the Grand Canal. What's more you can walk to the likes of the Rialto Bridge etc without breaking sweat.

How do you get there from the airport?
Jump on one of the Alilaguna boats from the airport and you'll go in one of two directions. Either you'll skirt around Venice and arrive by coming up the Grand Canal from the south east direction which means you'll stop at St Mark's Square. You now have a choice. Either, you can walk the ten minutes through St Mark's Square itself and then head past all the super swanky fashion shops (Prada, Chanel, Gucci etc) and you'll soon find yourself entering the little square where the hotel is located. You won't be able to miss the nearest landmark as it's a remarkably ornate church which lies about 20 yards directly in front of the hotel entrance.
Or if you don't want to lug your suitcases through the streets, then you can jump on an ACTV boat (assuming you have a ticket of course) and make the very short journey up the Grand Canal - you'll want the S Mario del Giglio stop. Then walk along the very narrow alleyway and you will emerge blinking into the square on which the hotel is located.
If your original Alilaguna craft takes you in from the top of the Grand Canal (you'll go under the Rialto Bridge) then you should be able to take the craft all the way to the S Mario del Giglio stop - which is very convenient.
NB. If you buy your Alilaguna and/or ACTV tickets in advance, you can get the ACTV tickets from various booths at the airport. We picked up the Alilaguna tickets from next to where the boats depart at Marco Polo. All very smooth.

What are the rooms like?
Our room - 232 - was modest in size, but bigger than some of the previous reviewers would have you believe. You couldn't swing lots of cats in there, but certainly there was plenty or room for a clutch of little kittens.
The bathroom was OK too - not tiny - and everything was spotlessly clean.
However, if you like a view, you would be a tad disappointed - the room overlooked a small courtyard, half of which was surrounded by scaffolding. Mind you, when you open the window and within five minutes hear one of the singers on a gondola singing O Sole Mio (the Just One Cornetto song) you can't help but feel like you've lucked out. You can't see them, but the sound was reassuringly authentic.
The only gripe we had during our two-night stay was that as it was late October the air-con was no longer working which meant the room got rather stuffy (the temperatures were a mild 20C) and for reasons I couldn't quite work out, the heating had been switched on. Anyway, switch it off and all is good.

Food and drink at the hotel
There is a decent sized bar area where breakfast is served on small tables. Breakfast was pretty modest - some cold meats and cheese, cereals, toast, croissant, fruit and some other treats. Tasty and you can have as much as you want, but a reasonably limited range if you wanted to be picky. Coffee was good, and taking our drinks outside we were able to sit in the shadow of the church directly opposite and watch Venice wake-up.
It doesn't serve lunch or dinner.

Service
All the staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. We were able to drop our bags off early (our flight got us in several hours before we could check in) and on the way out we left our bags there until it was time to catch the flight back - again, some hours after we'd checked out.

Hotel decor?
Anywhere else this would be bordering on the naff - a sort of seventies style take on hotel furnishings...but this is Venice, and it seems strangely fitting.

Transport links?
There are, of course, no cars or indeed bikes here, so you're reliant on your feet and boats to get about. With the nearby water bus stop, it makes life very simple.
We got 72-hour passes and got good value from them - comfortably using them more times than if we had just paid for each journey. You don't get your tickets checked every journey but you MUST validate them on every trip (like an Oyster but only on your way onboard) - we did get our tickets checked once - and then saw an Italian led off, with police in tow, after they were found not to have tickets...so not worth the risk.

The city
What can you say? Venice is magnificent and this hotel is superbly placed to allow you to get the most out of your stay. The place is teeming with restaurants and bars so eating out is no difficulty - and as long as you shop around, you can get a good deal...just don't expect a bargain if you want to sit in the tourist hot-spot areas...but that's pretty obvious really isn't it?

Overall
We got this via a British Airways deal - was good value and we'd certainly recommend it. However, the weather was good and mild, so we always had the option of strolling the streets and stopping for a glass of Prosecco. Had it rained or been miserable, then the hotel's lack of facilities may have been more of a short-coming.

Room Tip: Probably be nice to get one overlooking the square if you can, as the view the other way was non-exi...

Just had eight days at Bel Sito mid-October, The hotel is friendly clean and traditional - the staff are just wonderful - helpful and smiley. It was just so much fun to be there. Breakfasts great. Our double room was good - friend had a single room which was tiny but only tobe expected in old properties of Venice. Can't emphasize enough how good the staff are - polite humourous and helpful to the end.
