“Get away from the crowds”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

What a beautiful church to commemorate Our Lady's blessing to end to plague in Venice.

Attended Sunday mass-- great experience

More importantly a shrt water bus ride from st. Marks --be sure to take the right bus...but it is a great way to get away from the crowds. You get a great view of the mass of humanity !

“Take The Time to Go To Giudecca”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

Take the vaparetto to Giudecca and visit San Giorgio Maggiore -- the church itself is well worth the trip, but go up in the tower for the most spectacular views back on San Marco you will ever see. Just don;t be up there at 11am or Noon or the bells will make you deaf!

“Best view over Venice”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

The bell tower offers the best view over Venice and some peace and quiet. It is incredible that only a small Vaporetto ride away, there are no crowds, no confusion or someone trying to sell you something.
The island in itself is small, but it is worth it. Give it a try!

“Peace & tranquility”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Just a short vaporetto ride from St Mark's will take you across to San Giorgio Maggiore. There, you will get away from the crowds, have a drink or bite to eat at the café. The church is free to enter and allows photos to be taken. A trip up the campanile is a must, it's cheaper then the main one in St. Marks, less crowded and has better views of Venice.
