The crypt and sacristy are amazing. the art treasures, like so much in Venice, have to be seen to realise just how much there is on public view. Make the effort to visit this church

I really loved this church, it felt dark and not so overdone...lots of paintings taking up the walls and the crypt was amazing, with water on the floors, touches of mosaic....what a really lovely serene place.

Venice has many churches that require an entrance fee but this beautiful church is free to enter. It contains stunning masterpieces and should not be missed. It is just a short stroll from San Marco along the waterfront.

Not too far from San Marco, San Zaccaria contains just as fabulous an interior, even if less gold. The church contains paintings by Giovanni Bellini, Salviati, Tiepolo and more and is a good example of Venetian Renaissance eclecticism. Visiting the nave is free, the chapel and the crypt are 1,50. A must-see for art/history lovers!

We visited several churches in Venice and this was by far the most interesting (aside from St. Mark's Basilica). It is free to enter the main church and the interior is spectacular. Every inch of wall is covered by gigantic paintings which are breathtaking! The fact that you are allowed to take photos (without flash) is also a bonus. Don't miss the capellas and crypt to the right hand side, it's only 1.50 euros to enter and the fabulous golden polyptych altarpiece is worth that alone! The 9th Century crypt is good too, swimming in canal water it is the final resting place of 8 doges. Don't miss San Zaccaria.
