The reviews on TripAdvisor are so right - this is a gem of a hotel. It's small and wonderfully welcoming. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. We went for a weekend to Venice and ended up staying an extra couple of days because all flights were cancelled because of the snow. Everyone from the front desk to the wonderful lady in the breakfast room and the really friendly bar tender could not have been friendlier. The hotel is situation in a wonderful location, right on the Grand Canal with a vaporetto stop right outside - so five mins to St Mark's Square and one stop to the Rialto. It's also the stop for the airport bus which costs only 13 euros one way, so the transport links could not be better!
The rooms vary in size. One friend stayed in a standard room but even though it was small it was cozy and clean with a wonderful marble bathroom. We stayed in a junior suite overlooking the Grand Canal which was wonderful, fantastic views of the Rialto and the Grand Canal, very spacious with a wonderful bathroom. My only grouse was that the pillows were really hard ! There are so many hotels in Venice to choose from but this is one I would return to any time.

Had a very lovely stay at the San Angelo.

Rooms somewhat on the smaller side, well, smaller than I had anticipated anyway, but still perfectly nice. Beautifully decorated, as was the entire hotel.

The breakfast /dining room, is small, but had a very nice buffet style breakfast provided, both hot and cold, and suiting many nationalities.

Staff extremely pleasant and helpful, Very happy to advise re dining out.

Is also literally 20 paces from the vaporetto stop, which you only will fully appreciate once in Venice. The vaporetto stops are not as close together in places as you might anticipate.

A little restaurante which we enjoyed greatly, was called the something adelaide, cant quite remember, but I'm sure you'd find it on google.

Enjoy! Oh, also, we went at a perfect time of year!

I went there with my father for a 3 night 4 day break. The hotel was less than 50 metres from the autobus port on the grand canal. This meant we did not have to wheel our luggage through the streets of venice.
The hotle was clean, our first room was so small that the next day I happened to mention it to the manager in passing. On our return, we were given a free upgrade. Th staff at the hotel were fantastic and even gave us abottle of champagne for any inconvenience caused to us regarding the room.
The breakfast area is small but does provide an atmosphere typical of venice
The only let down is that there is no hotel restaurant for dinner- but there are plenty of places to eat elsewhere. The walk to San marco square was 10 min. The guided tours advised by the hotel are well worth it and are not expensive at all.
There are 2 supermarkets on the south side of the canal, find them and you will get some good priced food and drinks.
Do the boat trip to the 3 islands- murano is worth it.
On the whole, it was a good experience and the weather was fine 20-22c.

We decided to follow the advice of Tripadvisor's reviewers who rated this hotel as one of the best luxury hotels in Venice. We were really not disappointed. We - myself and my wife - travelled with our two kids, one aged 5 and another a one-year old. We made the reservation on the chain's - SINA - website, and got a junior suite. The water taxi from the airport takes you right at the hotel's own pier, very close to a Vaporetto stop (S. Angelo). The hotel is about 2 min. walking from the Campo. S. Stefano (where a great Xmas. Fair was going on every day), 5 minutes away from the Accademia bridge and about 10 min. away from S. Marco. The 5-year old slept in a comfortable sofa bed, the 1-year old in a cot and we slept in a wonderful king size bed.

The first good sign was when we realized we had four bath towels. Many hotels, even 5-star ones, tend to assume kids don't need them. In fact, we were given fresh towels both in the evening and in the morning. There was also a complimentary Prosecco bottle. The room's decoration was totally over the top, but we knew what we were going for. Everything was impeccably clean. We thought we wouldn't be using the jacuzzi bathtub, but it was irresistible and a lot of fun.

The next day, at breakfast, we realized the hotel had no baby chair. But the staff made several phone calls and, sure, next day a chair was already there. The Venetians' reputation for rudeness and pushiness cannot be overstated, and we got a new confirmation of this. But either nobody in the staff was Venetian or they were the exception that confirms the rule: everybody was very attentive, helpful and polite. All in all, a very good experience. And a good advice from Tripadvisor's reviewers. Thanks!

Lovely little hotel in a quiet but very central location. 10 meters or so from a vaporetto stop "S.Angelo" so very easy to get anywhere even if you don't feel like walking.
The hotel itself and the rooms are perfectly maintained. We stayed at the deluxe double, and it was quite big by any standards. The staff is all smiles and helpfulness, the cleaning ladies don't come banging on your door at 6am and even the part-time breakfast waiters know what they are doing.
Traveller's Choice award appears well-earned. If you're after traditional luxury, avoid the big names and stay here.

Taking my mother to Venice for her first trip, we wanted a good location and reasonable comfort. We got both, and more, from the Palazzo Sant'Angelo. Last stop on the Water Bus from the airport, the Vaporetto stop is barely 20 yards from the hotel entrance. So no trudge to the hotel after a hard day's sightseeing. We found Front of House friendly although no upgrades were offered (or asked for). But our rooms were spacious and more than comfortable with views over courtyard and side canal. Full baths with jacuzzi - a real treat after a day's walking. No restaurant but that's not a problem in Venice and given the bar prices (€12 for a cocktail, €6 for a hot chocolate in 'Happy Hour') it's unlikely we would have eaten there. But the breakfast was fine, though the tables a little crowded, and there was a very comfortable lounge with up to date papers including IHT and FT. Staff were helpful.
Early November was a great time to visit: fewer crowds, lower prices (low season) but lovely weather, at least for us. And now I have to start saving up for a room overlooking the Grand Canale (a mere €170 per night extra!).

This is a wonderful hotel.
We decided to stay on the Grand Canal since we knew
we would only be in Venice once.
We thought the location might be noisy and it might have
been, but our room was very quiet.

The service at the front desk was excellent.
The breakfast in the morning was very good.

You could not be at a better place for transportation with the
San Angelo vaperetto stop about 10 seconds away!

No downside to our stay.
