“Excellent hotel, very friendly people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

I stayed for a week in May. Exceptional little hotel, very friendly people. My room was large and really nice. Double glazed window, absolutely quiet. Very comfortable bed. Large and well-designed bathroom. Tasty breakfast, including really nice fresh pastry and fruit. Eugenia makes excellent coffee. Everyone is very friendly. I received plenty of help and whenever I asked for an advice regarding Venetian attractions or the best ways to get to any point in the city. It is a small hotel, just a few rooms, so you get very personal attention.

Very convenient location, roughly mid-way between the train station and the bridge of Rialto (which is the focal point of the city). It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel. The same from the hotel to Rialto. The location is nice and quiet. They email you a map which clearly marks the way to the hotel, should you choose to walk from the station. You should definitely stick to the recommended route, otherwise it is easy to get lost.

Locanda Sant'Agostin is a very good base for exploring Venice. There are several must-see attractions in the immediate surroundings of the hotel, especially the church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and Scuola Grande di San Rocco.

The staff's recommendations regarding local restaurants were spot on. I especailly liked the place in Campo San Polo, they serve simple and delicious home-style food.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Locanda Sant'Agostin and would definitely recommend it to anyone who plans to spend a few days exploring the city.

We stayed for a week in early July, on a pre-honeymoon of sorts. The staff was very friendly, earnest and helpful. The room was clean and cozy. The location was great for all kinds of Venice wanderings.

The staff make this hotel they very helpful and always smiling. It's in a great location for walking to the main attractions. When we booked we got an extremely useful and welcoming email with how to get to the hotel and additional information.

The rooms were clean and pleasantly decorated. The bathroom had a good, powerful shower and again was clean.

There are a lot of hotels of choose from in Venice, but we found a nice one which more than anything else we thought was well priced and provided good value. Definitely one we would recommend

A beautiful boutique hotel in a converted monastery. We had emailed with questions about the beds and they responded promptly and had our room arranged as we requested. We were late getting there ( navigating Venetian streets) and they called us by name as if they had been waiting up for us. The rooms were immaculate, beautifully furnished and had king sized beds. The owners and their staff were always on hand to greet or answer questions. The breakfast was so so but there was plenty of it and each cup of coffee was made to order. We highly recommend it.

Located in a well-conserved 16th-century palazzo, with ample bedchambers and a most pleasant breakfast hall, Locanda Sant'Agostin is a charming place in the geographical center of Venice.
The staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful; and the inn's excellent location, finely withdrawn from the crowds of tourists, makes for a remarkably tranquil stay.
Not only it is close to several points of interest (Basilica dei Frari, Scuola Grande San Rocco, Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista), it is also a mere 15 minutes walk to either Piazzale Roma (=bus station) or Ferrovia (=train station), and another 15 minutes in the opposite direction to Rialto, with just 3 bridges to cross in each case (a relevant information for those carrying heavy luggage, given that Venetian bridges have steps). Besides, it is just one bridge away from vaporetto stop San Stae.
Booklovers and/or classicists are also advised that Locanda Sant'Agostin stands just a few steps away from the building where Aldo Manuzio's print shop once stood (two plaques on the façade commemorate it).
Staying here, do not miss the opportunity of visiting the nearby church of Santa Maria Mater Domini (free admission, open Monday to Saturday 10 to 12 AM).

The location was nice since it was in a residential neighborhood and away from the crowds. It was nice getting a discount for paying cash. The first night we found ants in our bed and asked that bedding be changed the next day. We continued to find ants every day somewhere in the room and even in the bed. For me the A/C was very poor but it is in an old building. I went to bed each night with a cold water bottle on my neck in order to cool off enough to get to sleep. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted . The person who checked us in did not really know where a self serve laundry was and it was right near the train station. It was great to be able to securely leave our luggage the last day we were in town. But when going back to get it I used the "toilette" in the hall and there was no toilet paper. In order not to bother anyone I peeked in an open cabinet in the hall and the woman who worked there I'm sure was cussing me out in Italian for doing this-not very friendly. One night when we came in late she seemed angry that we had done so. You have to leave your room key when leaving the hotel so they have to buzz you in after a certain time. The breakfast was decent.

I spent two nights at this hotel in July 2014. The location was perfect for us - quiet, and a short walk to the train station and major sites. The room was very nice and comfortable (very cool, important during the Venetian summer!), with excellent bathroom facilities. Staff were very friendly, and exceptionally helpful in assisting me in retrieving an item left behind when we checked out - much appreciated!
