“Perhaps the best location in Venice?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 December 2006

This hotel provided an excellent base for our 3 night stay in Venice. Using the directions from earlier reviews it is easy to find. We took backpacks to avoid having to drag cases on and off boats and through the crowds.

Most (if not all) of the rooms overlook a small canal so you can't forget you are in Venice! It is fairly noisy during the day because of the gondola stop below but we loved watching the canal from the window. It was quiet enough at night to sleep.

The room was very small (I had to get in the wardrobe to take a picture of the room!) but after a couple of hours we got used to it and actually found it quite cosy. The bathroom was quite large in comparison. Both the bedroom and bathroom were very clean. Found the beds quite comfy, perhaps not as luxurious as you'd find in a 5 star hotel but we weren't paying 5 star prices! Buffet breakfast was included with the deal we got and there was plenty of choice each morning and everything was very fresh. Staff on reception were always very friendly. The hotel felt very safe.

The location couldn't have been better. We walked or got the water bus everywhere. The water bus pass was about 25 Euros for a 3 day ticket. Definately worth the money if you intend to see all the sights. Getting around on the boat was a great experience.

We went in August and the weather wasn't too hot and it wasn't at all smelly. People had warned us it would be. Perhaps we were just lucky with the weather.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, paid 200Euro's for a canal view room, 9/15-9/17. Was very nice view, great feel for Venice as you can see the gondola's, room is small though, bathroom was larger than expected, it was clean and worth the price for Vencie. The location is the BEST, right in the middle of everything, nice 2 star hotel, no internet service, the front desk was very helpful and nice, they offered a 8% discount if paid in cash (which we did), may be difficult to find at first, follow other directions from reveiws. Email me with any questions brianmanley@verizon.net

I booked a cruise in the greek Isles that was departing from Venice and decided to stay here an extra night. Hotel Lisbona had good reviews so I decided to go with it.

Turned out it was an OKAY experience but definitly not a 4.5 star experience as shown here.

PROs
- Great location
- Nice little hotel and nice staff
- Great breakfest
- Nice bathroom

CONs:
- Can be VERY noisy. I selected a canal view on the second floor (and peyed 140E). The view is nice, it was just net to Gondolas' stop. "Solo Mio" might be romantic but at 3 AM I want to sleep!
- The beds were really uncomfortable. Usually I overlook this detail and adapt to different bed type but this one felt like we were sleeping on a piece of wood with springs.

If I were to return I would select another hotel. And don't worry about the location, in Venise everything is quite close and it is such a pleasure to walk there anyway.

All the previous, positive comments are still valid. Use directions from other reviews to locate it. The hotel is the pink one in the picture, situated behind the Violino d'Or. The street is well-lit if you are arriving late.
We booked this hotel as part of a package from the UK and had two double rooms, one of which was allocated as a single. One had a very small, but spotless and modern, shower room, while the other had a full bathroom which was much larger. Both overlooked the canal, as do most of the rooms.
We didn't experience mosquitos, but there was a repellent plug in the room if needed (N.B. Brits - it's that funny 2-pinned plug sitting in the ashtray with a thin wafer to put in......). The room was well-supplied with usual toiletries and other small items.
The continental breakfast was excellent (better than two previous hotels where we've stayed in Venice) with a variety of fruit juices, cereals, rolls, croissants, cake, cheese and meats, and was re-stocked so latecomers would have the same choice as the early risers. The cappucino is to be recommended. Yes, the breakfast room is small, but nobody had to wait while we were there.
This hotel was value for money and, if we return to Venice, we shall certainly use it again.

Loved the hotel, fantastic loaction at a resonable price. Rooms are very, very small depending on which room you are allocated but once again i have to say the loaction is excellent for getting around.

I am a little late getting around to writing my review of this lovely little hotel, but I can’t resist. First the cons…there are few! The bed in our room was hard! If you like a firm bed, then stay in this hotel. A tip, we used the extra blankets and the top coverlet under our sheets for a little extra padding. My husband had more trouble with it than I did. You are so tired from a day of walking that I didn’t even notice so much. Ok, that is it for cons. My favorite thing was the windows in our room. First of all visiting Venice you must absorb the sounds. In the streets you hear people taking, shoes clicking along, music and no motor cars! From our window I enjoyed the gondolas slow rhythm in the water. It is a soothing sound that echoes between the buildings on a quite morning. A sound that I can hear quite well as I write this review. We were on the top floor in the corner room and had lovely views from our shuttered windows. The rooms are spotless. The bathrooms are spotless. The shower is adequate and has lots of hot water. Tip, don’t let you hose get a crimp in it, for some reason you only get cold water then. The sheets are spotless and softer than I expected. The heater worked well, it was cold when we were there so I am can’t speak for the cooling. The keys are enormous, we left ours at the desk every morning on our way out and we always got it on our way in. There is always someone at the desk. Smiling and enquiring about your day’s plans or your adventures. We were out quite late at times and there was always someone at the desk. Breakfast is on time and simple but good. They always had some meats, breads, yogurts, cereals, and breakfast type beverages. Remember, this not America, you don’t bacon and eggs for free! Go to McDonalds if you need an American fix. Our room was ok quite, not silent but good enough for us. We stayed five nights and were very pleased. We have stayed in a few other places in Venice and the hotel Lisbona is good for the price. The location can’t be beat for major tourist sites. But please get off the beaten path, get lost your on an island you can’t get far! I hope you find as much magic as we do when you visit Venice. We stayed at the Lisbona for four nights over Easter 2006. The hotel is situated on the Canal San Moise just off the Campo San Moise. Its easy to find and the nearest vaporetto stop is no more than 5 minutes away at Vallaresso/San Marco. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Venice and the outer islands. Our room (no11) had everything we needed, plus a great little balcony for watching the gondoliers and water taxis go by on the canal below. The breakfast was a good continental buffet (hot croissants, rolls, cereals etc) - only 5 tables but it didnt cause any problems to us and the staff are very helpful.

We had a really great time there and would definitely return. If you are there for three days - its really worth getting the three day transport ticket - easy for hopping off along the Grand Canal and covers you to get to Lido, Murano and Burano/Torcello. The transport is really efficient and runs on time. The Alilaguna from the airport takes about 70 mins but at 11 euros per person - its a good deal and beats the water taxis at 100 euro a throw which are not worth it unless there are 6 or more of you.
