“Convenient location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2014

Found down a small alley this petite establishment offers cozy rooms in the traditional Venetian style with brocade wall coverings and small rooms. But if you want to spend time absorbing the extraordinary aspects of this unique city the bijou hotel is ideally placed for exploring.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Hotel Lux during January of 2014 and found it to be perfect for our short visit. The location was fantastic, very close to St. Mark's Square (we could even see the bell tower from one of the windows in our room, as we were on the very top floor). Our room was really cosy and felt very authentic. I read that some people complained about the amount of stairs, but it really wasn't that bad at all - and come on, this is Venice! The buildings are built narrow and high for a reason. The staff at the hotel also went out of their way to help us with directions to a place we wanted to eat at; they even printed out a map for us! Overall, we had a great experience and I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay in Venice.

Room Tip: Try and get the top floor, it really stands out!

On first impressions the staff were not very friendly. The corridor and stairs were very narrow and hard to navigate with luggage and there are no lifts (be warned, do not take large or heavy suitcases to this hotel, unless to have King Kong with you!) The rooms are neat and clean but small, dark and stuffy (it was almost hard to breath). The minimal breakfast consists of a croissant and a coffee served by a very angry ex-cafeteria server. On the plus side the evening receptionist was quite pleasant and helpful with tour information.

Very sweet place with charming comfortable rooms, we stayed as a part of our honeymoon and loved the location, which could not be better...only a minutes walk to st marks square, loved the service and our traditionally decorated room. Definately recommend to couples.

OK so I'll start by saying we are a young couple who are not fussy and while you read review for places to stay in Venice be aware that rich fickle people love Venice and have ridiculous expectations for old European cities!

On to the review Venice is a expensive place to stay compared to the larger European cities and you do not get as much of a bang for buck in this city(this hotel is extremely affordable so don't complain or compare to other cities) that being said this hotel is clean and comfy no complaints whatsoever and is a decent location for sightseeing. its is extremely small lobby and you have to be on time to get a breakfast but just don't be lazy and the workers will gladly help you. One thing people do not like is that there is no elevator and the stairs are a obstacle for those who are elderly or obese.... the fact is lifts are not common in old cities get use to it. If the stairs are that big of an obstacle have some patients and wait for others to check in and politely ask the workers for a hand and they will help you! I'm saying have patience because alot of people I have seen are not polite nor patient and if you expect anyone to help you when the majority of check ins are at the same time in a cramped lobby your bound to be upset and its serves you right! We enjoyed our stay and thank you!

Room Tip: if you are not very mobile ask for a room on the first floor!

Stayed for 3 nights but did not enjoy much. The hotel was very small, no elevator and narrow corridors. The receptionist was quite nice but the waitress had some attitude. Breakfast was served (one small croissant each). The Filipino receptionist on night shift was very nice and accommodating.

My friend and I were delighted when we entered our room - it was luxuriantly decorated in what we came to understand as the Venetian style, with brocade fabric on the walls, and it had bedside lights bright enough to read by; there was, joy of joys, an actual bath, not just a shower; also a fridge and a safe. It was not cramped, everything was perfectly clean and the room was mercifully warm after the cold and damp outside. The breakfast was also good, my only slight disappointment being the tinned fruit salad. Each morning there were fresh pastry 'croissants' and a wide range of other items.

We enjoyed our stay there in all respects.

Room Tip: I didn't see any of the other rooms.
