The building as most of historical city is very old, and the 15th century building was not expected to become a hotel. It was actually a house to a reach aristocratic family. You will figure all that out when searching for it's entrance in the labyrinth of narrow Venice streets. It will take a couple of steep stairs to finally get into the main hall, which serves as a lobby and a breakfast room at the same time. And there you will find incredibly nice people ready to help you in every aspect of your stay in the city (including carrying your luggage up the stairs). It almost seems like they never say "no". The rooms are very different, ours was probably the largest. Very high ceilings, huge windows, nice furniture. Breakfast was simple, but that very typical for Italy: they don't eat a lot in the morning.

I will definitely recommend this hotel as a place to stay. And I will not think a minute about the choice of hotel if I am going to visit Venice in the future.

Stayed only 2 nights on a quick trip to Venice, will be back. Was fantastic.
Had a quadruple room which had a large sofa bed for our 8 year old son.
The owner and his son ( I assume) were very very helpful and attentive.

Warning. Get good directions from the owner to get to the hotel: involves taking boat 52 I think on northern shore. We didn't and were poorly prepared, and ended up walking for hours late at night in the deserted streets trying to locate it.

My husband and I stayed at Ca' Bauta in October. We also had friends stay in this B&B at the same time. They upgraded us when we arrived just so we could have rooms adjoining each other. The staff gave us great food recommendations and were available at all hours. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was simple and nice, and they were very accommodating when we had an early flight they served us a bit earlier than scheduled. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend this place.

Ca' Bauta is a small hotel that is a converted palace with 6 rooms and a wonderful owner David and his staff, that take good care of you. His advice is rock solid. Our junior suite was good size and priced very reasonably for Venice. It is 10 minutes from the toursit areas - which we found to be a great thing. You want to walk in Venice and being able to get away from the crowded tourist areas is great. If you stay here, best to get the dock that is 20 meters from the Ca' Bauta and pay for a water taxi (70 euro from train station and 110 euros from Airport). The staff can meet you at the dock and help you with luggage. Finally, please remember in Italy to Validate your train, water taxi, etc. tickets at small scanner before boarding. It cost us a 30 euros each fine.

Room Tip: We had room 204. It was a junior suite, but it was far from the wireless, so our connection was not...

We stayed at Ca'Bauta for three nights as part of our Honeymoon, and would happily recommend it to anyone. What we really liked about the place was its location. It is not right next to St Marks Square or overlooking the Rialto bridge- though it is close enough to walk to them both easily. However, it was really nicely placed to actually just get lost in the Venice-ness of Venice- all the alleyways and labyrinthine network of canals, and stumble across bars selling Prosecco and great food.

We found it relatively easily on arrival- getting a vaporetto to Ospedale, walking down Calle Cappuccine Castello and then following the house numbers (though we have been told you can''t do this elsewhere...)

The building itself is a lovely old palace, with an ornate, shared vestibule. The suite we were in was huge, with a great Jacuzzi in the middle of the room and a sun terrace at the back. Breakfasts were huge and freshly made while the staff were really helpful and happy to give advice about things to do in Venice. Highly recommended.

Ca' Bauta made for an excellent vacation in Venice. The reception staff was so helpful and gave us great recommendations for dinners and things to do around venice. The rooms were fantastic. We even got a free upgrade to their magnificent suite. This is a romantic hotel for an excellent value. I would highly recommend.

We recently returned from a week in Venice and will definitely stay here next time we visit. Stepping off a narrow alleyway you enter a different world: marble floors, elegant furnishings and spectacular chandeliers create a cool calmness. The spacious rooms continue the theme. The hosts are that - true hosts who make everyone welcome. Returning from a day's walking Venice streets and finding fresh ice tea available is just one simple touch to make you feel welcomed. The location is great in the Castello district; it is a short walk to St Mark's Square and other attractions but the beauty of this location is how quickly you are off the usual tourist haunts and exploring the local area. There are plenty of places to eat and drink for all budgets. The directions supplied are clear but remember that there are bridges and heavy suitcases get heavier in the sun. From the airport the blue line takes you to Fondamente Nove and will stop at the Ospedale (hospital) in the evening. Buy a multi day pass and from Fondamente turn left over one bridge to the next FN stop there you can get on the local ACTV water bus to the next stop (Ospedale) and it's a flat shady walk to the hotel. This stop also gives you access to everywhere else in Venice and it's only a short walk from the hotel. The hotel guest book echoes positive comments from visitors from around the world you can book this with confidence through their website. http://www.cabauta.com/
