Very old world! Huge windows maybe a bit off the track but still lovely. Great staff, very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast is very good. Linked us to a speed boat out to murano for great shopping!

We are an English couple and stayed for 3 nights in mid July. Ca'bauta is a beautiful, grand, welcoming, easy to find little guesthouse with a great continental breakfast with croissants and plenty of Nutella, apples, eggs etc. I would say it made our stay in Venice so special, because Davide the owner was so informative, helpful and kind. Davide recommended a great little Venetian restaurant with real Italian food called trattoria storica, which is hidden away and away from the touristy areas. The room was the double and the bed was comfy, the air conditioning was effective and it was very clean, spacious and private. Cannot recommend this little hotel enough, we wouldn't stay at the Danieli even if we could afford it now! Ca bauta is amazing value for money and Davide is a real gentleman who cares so well for you.

Room Tip: There are only 4 or 5 rooms in the guesthouse but ours was probably the smallest as it was the doubl...

Stayed at Ca Bauta for two nights this week. Sensational. I am very fussy and Italian so a hard marker. This is why you should go. 1. Easy to get to 2. Sensational location 3. Beautiful rooms 4. Great value. The most important reason you should go there is that if you do not want to go to a tourist trap but experience something authentic this is the place for you. Davide the owner is one of a dying breed, a real gentleman with a deep understanding of Venetian culture and history. He is extremely helpful and informative. Reading the reviews what I can say is that if you have any issue with any aspect if the service it is probably your fault for not communicating with Davide directly. Do me a favour. If you have anything that needs to be addressed just ask him and I am sure he will sort it out, as he did for me. Davide treats guests as people, not numbers. And he genuinely cares. Tip from a fellow Italian: If you treat management as humans and talk to them, they will bend over backwards to make your stay an unforgettable one. They sure did for me and my partner. I will go there again. Give yourself a great surprise and go there. It is outstanding value for money.

My wife and I together with our two teenage daughters stayed here in July 2014 - we cannot recommend it highly enough!

David was extremely helpful with guidance on the best way to arrive and with recommendations for restaurants and when to visit the sites and how to get a flavour of being a real Venetian.

The rooms are exactly as seen in both the professional and guest photo's - spotlessly clean, and with some welcome drinks in the mini bar.

We were very please with the location, once you had your bearings, it was maybe a ten minute walk to St Mark's Square / The Doges Palace - the longest distance walk was to the Jewish Ghetto, but with David's directions, very easy to get there and a low cost [two Euro] Gondola ride.

Venice is over ridden with tourists, but by being ten minutes out, we escaped the crowds to some extent!

We have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation - you will be very happy staying here!

Room Tip: There are only six rooms - we stayed in 204, which has a smaller bathroom [but no issue] - and I'...

My family (husband, wife, three oldest kids, 12, 10 and 8) spent June 16-18 care of Davide at Ca Bauta in the Castello area of Venice near the Osperdale water taxi stop. While Venice treated us wonderfully -- great weather, nice breeze, friendly people -- it was the thoughtful, proactive support from Davide, the proprietor of Ca Bauta, that made our experience so wonderful. Davide found us local non-touristy restaurants for lunch and dinner, helped us with transportation (where to find the best gondola ride, how best to get to Piazzala Roma on our way out of town), and -- best of all -- introduced us to his sister, Christina, as a Venetian-native English-speaking guide for a adult-and-kid friendly tour of the highlights and out of the way sights in Venice (a 15th century gondola boat building artisan shop...). We recommend strongly that anyone seeking a differentiated experience in Venice find a way to stay with Davide and Ca Baute!

Room Tip: Ca Bauta has a series of local apartments that are for guests. The apartment we stayed in was clean...

My adult daughter and I stayed at Ca' Bauta in February. As with the other reviewers, I found Davide to be a wonderful host, very helpful in setting a not-too-aggressive itinerary and providing useful tips in finding (or avoiding) the crowds. We traveled on the overnight train from Paris, so it was mid morning when we arrived - Davide greeted us at the top of the stairs (and when I groaned at one more flight of stairs) he smiled and pulled my bag up the one flight to reception. In Venice you will always find stairs he said. Despite being early, we were checked in immediately to a large room with Murano glass chandeliers and a window onto the courtyard. This room was, by far, the largest we stayed in during our three weeks in Europe. For our three days there, Davide helped us daily with setting the right itinerary, finding times to avoid the crowds at San Marco square, taking a short ride to Torcello and Burano and held a long conversation about tides in Venice and the real scoop on rising waters. Together, he and I watched (he translated) a short documentary in Italian about canal conservation. I would recommend staying here, its a short walk from the Ospedale water taxi stop and not so manic as other parts of Venice. Taking time to chill in Venice and to get lost are two things you should do, and Ca' Bauta will help you do both! One thing that we were a bit sad about was that we left a tip for the cleaning woman and she didn't take it. First time ever that happened to me.

Room Tip: Our room was perfect, first door off reception.

We stayed at Ca Bauta for 2 nights in January 2014 where we stayed in the "annex" which is 100 metres away from the main building. Whilst I was initially a little worried about being away from the b&b, the annex was perfect; it was spacious, clean and fitted with everything that a family would need to be completely self-sufficient with its own fridge, crockery & stove as well as being in a super location to enable easy access to all of the sights of Venice. Davide, the owner of ca bauta was remarkably helpful and friendly, giving us fab tips on where to go and always available to help. I would love to visit again, and would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Venice.
