the hotel is in a medieval building, with only six, but very large rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpfull.

We went there with 3 kids and a dog and we stayed in the Quadruple room. We were happy troughout our stay! Very quiet area and still very convienently located.

The staff was very helpful and gave many unvaluable tips for our stay. Every other guest that we spoke to were also very happy with the hotel!

The breakfast is probably the only thing that could have been richer. Altough Italian hotel breakfasts are normally fairly sparse. You will need the extra space in your tummy to fit the three course lunch that is offered in every restaurant.

Great, quiet position for getting to all Venice has to offer. Right in the middle of Castello's alleys and canals...couldn't be better. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. All staff were friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English...always a bonus! We loved it!

Navigating thru the streets of Venice was very frustrating to say the least and to see the this Hotel from the exterior, reminded me of a dilapidated New York city tenement, But when I stepped
into the lobby and into the spacious rooms with the tall, tall
ceilings, all my pre- conceived expectations evaporated.

"Andrea", the receptionist was extremely polite and eager to
assist with our tour of the city, directions to various restaurants-
both high end and more economical eateries. She provided
us with the exact timetables, waterbus number and bus line
number to take from the airport to the hotel, to the cruise ship
terminal and finally back to the hotel after our cruise thru the Greek isles ended. All the info she'd provided was flawless.
My wife and our four children are extremely greatful for her help.

There is a total of 6 rooms in this hotel and we stayed in the
master suite with the Jacuzzi and outdoor terrace. Our children
stayed in the junior suite and they were also delighted as we were. The breakfast was very good compared to some of the
well known hotels in the states. There were croissants, various pastries, cookies, chocolates etc., fresh brewed coffee-not instant, juices, milk, cereals and so on.

We will not hesitate to return to the Ca' Bauta on our next visit
to Venice. You can't "judge a book by its cover" is so true in this
case.

the hotel is really not you expect...it looks much prettier and royal in the pictures, and much more extravagant.
in truth, this is simply a large house, with several rooms, and a single common space ( you exit your room and step directly in the breakfast space and reception!),a single person running all the errands (reception, breakfast, and yes, even cleaning the rooms!),and very little that you could call hotel service, amenities,or (simple )luxury.
The rooms are spacious but tacky ,cold, and without personality. the fake wooden wardrobes and cheap carpets, together with the ugly curtains and bed covers, makes one not want to spend more than the necessary sleeping hours in the hotel...
Breakfast is very poor and the cereal glass containers seem to be lying there since last century (they dont even bother to remove them from the room when breakfast is over).
The staff is badly trained and lazy.
above all the money one pays is not matched by anything the hotel has to offer-apart from a nice location.
wouldnt go back,ever!

I was making reservations for Venice close to our trip which was during peak travel season, so many hotels in Venice were already booked. During my research/planning, I found that hotels in Venice were overall more expensive compared to hotels in the other cities we visited in Italy on this trip. I was concerned about booking this hotel since it received mixed reviews by previous travelers. In the end, it was a good deal! I received great directions in the confirmation email, so it was easy to find even though we were winding our way through narrow streets. On a map, it seemed like it might be out of the way, but it's closer to San Marco Square than it looks. It's definitely expensive for the basic room that it is - but hotels in general are expensive in Venice. All the rooms branch off of a huge main lobby. Dining area is at the end of the room. We were in the room closest to the entrance but we never heard a thing. Very quiet location overall. Had a great time during our stay here.

We just stayed at the Ca'Bauta and were extremely disappointed after the great write ups here and the Conde Nast write up a couple of years ago. There is one main room, at one end is the reception area, at the other, the breakfast area and in the middle is a common sitting area. The rooms are all off this main room. The walls are paper thin so if you are in your room you can hear the reception phone ringing, the desk clerk talking, breakfast being set up, people eating, Tvs and conversations in adjoining rooms, etc. We agree with the other reviewers who commented on the horrible breakfast - packaged cookies, stale rolls and instant coffee, and the lack of a good map - essential when your hotel is in such an out of the way place. The desk clerks were not at all helpful about directions either. The most frustrating part of our stay was the erroneous information given to us by the two desk clerks about the waterbus schedule to the airport. They provided us with the wrong times - as we arrived at the stop, the boat was pulling away - it arrives 15 minutes earlier than the Ca'Bauta staff told us. The next bus wasn't for an hour so we were forced to take a private and very expensive water taxi. It seems that providing correct information about something as timely as airport transport is an essential function of a good hotel.
