I rented a 3 bedroom apartment for my stay in Venice here. The locals are nice & friendly. The restaurants are good and the prices are low.

“The original Ghetto”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

The Cannaregio is really worth a visit. It was the original Ghetto in the 16th century, where Jews were restricted to living and you can still see the holes in the walls from the gates that used to lock the Jews inside at night. The Cannaregio is a bit off the tourist-trail and much over-looked by visitors to Venice. Spend a morning wandering around - there is still a Jewish community there, with a synagogue and a kosher restaurant that fronts onto the Cannaregio Canal.

“Less crowd - a lot to see”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

If you tired of tourist crowd and want to see some real Venetians, rent a flat in Cannaregio, start your morning getting expresso where the locals get it (twice cheaper and twice stronger than at touristy places it, buy fish and veg at the small market - and cook it in the evening, visit the old synagogues in Ghetto, be lost in the maze of canals…

“Take a day to explore - don't miss it”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

Don't be a tragic tourist and never leave San Marco. Go and explore Cannaregio, which Venetians regard as THEIR city. It includes the medieval Jewish ghetto and some gorgeous churches. A great wander round. Cross over from the Rialto Bridge and then cross back at the bridge in front of the Accademia.
