“Best Apartment Ever”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

I stayed on Al Redentore Di Venezia for 2 nights 25&26 Sept-13 . let me tell you it was the best placed i booked during my whole Europe trip , its very big and very comfortable , its away from Venice center so its very quite . you can go to SanMarko only by public transportation within 10 minutes . the only thing you need to keep in your mind that they close at 4 PM and in order to open the door you need to use 4 digit code which will be sent to you by email . we had one couple who didn't check their mail and kept knocking the door at night , so i went down and open the door for them , the owner kept their apartment key on the reception desk .

Room Tip: Room 203 lovely

We have just come back from 5 days in Venice, staying at Al Redentore which is on the island of Guidecca just across from the main island of Venice. Getting to the apartment from where the airport bus brings you into Venice was easy, with a Vaparetto ride of around 15 mins - the apartment is a short walk from the Vaporetto stop at Redentore. We had the executive apartment 'Salute' which was wonderful. Great welcome from Andrea and he couldn't have been more helpful to us with advice during our stay. The apartments have been refurbished to a high standard, with great bathrooms and comfy accommodation. The up sides to Guidecca are that it is away from the madness of the busy parts of Venice, is cheaper, and has a charm of its own. The church at Redentore is worth a look if you like that sort of thing. Restuarants are limited, but within a quick walk of the apartment is a restaurant on the waterside overlooking Venice which has good quality food and residents of Al Redentore get a little Limoncello or Grappa as a freebie - see pic. A quick hop across the Guidecca Canal on a Vaporetto and you are at St Mark's Square, and they run all night so you are never stuck.

All in all a great place to stay and would recommend - you would pay a lot more for being in the Heart of Venice and given how busy it gets I'm not sure that would be a good thing - depends on your point of view.

Room Tip: Room 208 is the executive suite and is fab and has a view over to Venice - we also stayed one night...

Lovely spacious apartment with a modern high spec finish and a nice canal view.

The apartment was easy to find given the precise email directions given by the manager Andrea before hand and only 5 / 10 mins walk from the Redentore vaporetto / water bus stop.

In terms of location, located on Giudecca which is the island opposite the main island Venice. There are much fewer tourists here and at the time of our stay the price for this apartment was cheaper than would be the case if staying in a similar apartment on the main island. Giudecca however is limited in terms of eating options and all restaurants on the isle stopped serving by 10.30pm on a Saturday night. This is mitigated though by the fact that San Marco is only 3 stops / 10-15 mins away on the vaporetto.

Opening the beautiful, old wood door of the authentic Venetian building canal side on an island just one stop away from the main island of Venice, and with an incredible view of the island, we were surprised to find ourselves in a thoroughly renovated sleek, modern foyer with marble floors and open metal stairs. Gorgeous! The same word describes the apartment itself although the furnishings and decor were authentic Italian with carved wooden headboard in master and pull out queens in second bedroom and living room. Full galley kitchen with jam, toast, tea, coffee and other small amenities. Windows opened onto canal. Four large rooms in addition to two of the nicest, most luxurious and modern bathrooms we encountered on our trip (Four Seasons qualify and beyond). Floors sloped a little due to age of building and typical Venice sinking soil and ceilings were low but all added to the charm of this luxurious, spacious and wonderful apartment. Would highly recommend without a doubt.

Room Tip: Ask for canal view.

We have been to Venice several times before and every time, we stayed at over-priced and over rated hotels, where we always felt "ripped off" as tourists. It was enough to turn me off Venice forever. This time, we came with some friends as part of our tour of Italy and visited Venice as part of our trip as our friends have never been to Venice. We wanted a place away from the crowds of San Marco and slightly more reasonable in terms of prices. We found this wonderful apt building on the island of Giudecca - right across the canal from the main island. It offered clean, modern accommodation in an old building away from the crowds.

We arrived in Venice by train. From the train station, we got a 3 day water taxi pass for 35 euros (great deal, considering it's 7 euros each trip). The apt is a short water taxi ride from the train station. Get off at the Redentore stop and turn right. Walk a short distance, turn left just before the bridge and you are at the apt. It is very deceiving on the outside - it looks like an old run down building but once you go through the front door, you will be amazed at how lovely it is inside. You'll feel like you are in a modern apt in LA with all the modern conveniences. Andrea was very helpful and accommodating. Anything you need, he'll do his best to help you get.

Our group (4 adults and 2 kids) were in apt 208 - top floor, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, washer, full kitchen, dining room, 3 TV's, ample storage space and a beautiful "loft" feel to it. We were provided with coffee, toasts, nutella, jam, oil and vinegar dressings, sugar, dishwasher and dishwashing detergents, laundry detergent and basic bathroom toiletries - towels, soap, shampoo, shaver, shower cap. They change the towels every 3 nights but you can ask for fresh towels anytime if you feel you need them. Since this is an apt and not a hotel, you will not get housekeeping service making your bed every day but that was ok with us. Andrea gave us Prosecco and snacks one day as a "thank you" for staying with them. He pointed us to the grocery store, bakery etc. We were able to make some meals in the apt which saved us a lot of $. The grocery store serves locals, so the prices are very reasonable (0.19 euros for 2 litres of mineral water!). The bread and pastries from the little pastry shop down the boardwalk had fresh baking everyday and again, cheap! Several lovely little pizzerias close by.

It is only a short 2 stop water taxi ride to San Marco square. Staying at the apt gave us the option of visiting all the tourist attractions during the day and returning to the tranquility of the apt at night. This visit and this stay at the apt gave me a new appreciation for Venice and now, I will definitely return and will definitely stay here again!

I booked a family stay at "Al Redentore" the weekend the Homonymic Feast takes place, with its beautiful fireworks display and regatta. The apartment was very comfortable and had a small view over the Canale della Giudecca, where huge cruise ships sail quietly just meters from your windows. The renovation work was excellent, combining the character of the property heritage features, with the convenience of all the modern amenities. You have your own fully equipped kitchen and dining room, one or more bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and lots of space. The furniture is all of very high specifications and quality. Andrea, the owner, gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants, things to do and see, transportations etc, and since one of our flat TV's (we had 3!) only had a few working channels, he compensated with a bottle of Prosecco and aperitives free of charge. I loved that a few breakfast items, a coffee machine and a kettle, a washing machine and a dishwasher are at your disposal during your stay. Venice is expensive and a lot of hotels are overpriced for what they actually offer. Al Redentore is conveniently located on the Giudecca Island to which you can retreat after a long day of sightseeing. The number of tourists on the Island (with the exception of the weekend we consciously chose) is minimal, so you can experience the real Venice, with supermarkets and local people, peace and quiet, just 10 minutes boat ride from St. Mark's Square. No hesitation in recommending this establishment to anyone interested in the quality of their stay, rather than just being in the middle of it all. Loved it!

Room Tip: Only a few rooms (on the higher floors) afford a view over the Canale della Giudecca. These apartmen...

Great renew apartments with excellent view. Air conditioner, full kitchen, cleen modern bathroom, TV. The only disadvantage is that you must take a boat to reach the main tourist attractions. It's only 10 min ride but it's adds to your staying costs. Otherwise it's totally recommended!
