“Great location”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights, July 2014. Great location, between St. Marks Square and the Rialto bridge. The staff was friendly and professional. We have a family of 5, we had 2 rooms, 1 room was very large and the second of average size. The smaller room did have an unusual smell and uneven floors and a centipede.. but it is Venice and there is dampness. Huge, clean bathrooms. Our rooms overlooked the canals. Hotel is close to gondola point. Breakfast was very nice and included.

In May 2014 we stayed here for three nights at the end of a Collette tour. The location is great, part way between St. Marks square and the Rialto bridge with a gondola 'garage' a few steps away. We only ate breakfasts there and the buffet was very good with all you would ever want. The desk staff were very cordial and professional.
Italian hotel rooms are 'like a box of chocolates' a la Forrest Gump. We had a nice, spacious room while others in our group had smaller, closet sized rooms. Our only complaint was street noise from pedestrian traffic as we were retiring for the night but it eventually did subside. It did start up again early in the morning with business deliveries.

Room Tip: You could ask for a quiet room but I'm not sure how many there are. As part of a tour we were p...

Out travel agent chose this hotel because it was one of the few places we could have all four of us (2 parents, 2 kids) in one room. It was technically a suite with a pull out couch for the kids to sleep on. The hotel was very clean. Nice sized room. Excellent bathroom. Staff was very helpful. You can take a water taxi to and from the hotel, but we took the vaporetto to the Rialto stop and walked a few blocks. It was no problem. Very close to San Marco square. "American-style" breakfast buffet was included in the price. This is very helpful, as it is not always easy to find a breakfast of more than coffee and pastries in Italy. Restaurant staff was helpful and breakfast food was pretty good. We didn't have lunch or dinner there, so can't review.

Negatives - Our room only had a view of the airconditioner on the roof outside. This also made virtually no natural light come in the room in the morning. Also, to get to our room we had to go up one flight (elevator available), then down a hall, up more stairs, around a corner, down some stairs, around a corner, up some more stairs and down another hall. HA! Ask for a more accessible room if the stairs are a problem. For us it was fun and we made videos of our adventure to our room.

Overall a great find.

What a wonderful start to our Italian vacation. Flew in from the states around noon, and our water taxi took us right up to the door of our hotel for a two night stay. Service desk was very accommodating, and we were offered an upgrade to a balcony room overlooking the canal at no extra charge. So enjoyable to hear the gondola singers and music as the are passing by. Location was very convenient and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet before starting out for our day.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights as part of a tour. Our room was spacious and clean with a great view of a bridge and canal that was used by the many gondoliers. The bathroom was enormous and had beautiful tile and marble. The front desk was very helpful...especially Andrea. Included was a breakfast buffet and one dinner. The food was just fair, but the outdoor dining/bar area was great for people watching. The drinks were not very generous and we waited a very long time for an overpriced glass of wine. However we loved our room and the location of the hotel. In a couple of minutes you could walk to the Rialto Bridge one way and St. Mark's Square the opposite way. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Venice! What more to say? As you cant drive anywhere and have to walk everywhere, you will want to stay right in the heart of all. But still peaceful and quiet. The Bonvecchiati offers exactly that! Slap bang in the center of S. Marco with a 3 minutes walk to S. Marco Square and 4 minutes to the Rialto bridge, lots of shops and lovely (not too pricy) restaurants around, this hotel is in the best location. Our room was (for Venice) very spacious and very quiet. Breakfast was great and the Service outstanding. The hotel has got a lovely terrace where one can sit and see the gondolas go by. We had a brilliant time.

Room Tip: Best to call or email the hotel and ask. They were great!

this hotel is good, food and interior and service were all good.
but one thing that troubled us was..its not near to the area where the rented boats drops you..
if you are carrying quite no of bags in ur luggage. the you can imagine yourself dragging your luggage on the streets of venice for like 10-15 minutes. as the gondola service upto the hotel was neither decent or cheap nor readily available all the time.
