I stayed at this hotel for four nights this November.

Big warning - the beds are horrific. Incredibly cheap, nasty and in fact painful. Its quite weird that they have put such cheap mattresses in but I imagine that they are relying on the location and the fact that they don't have to have better facilites to attract guests.

To be honest the staff are lovely - its just that if comfort or your back is in any way a concern, don't stay here.

Dear Sir/Madam,
we have just read the review you left on Tripadvisor and we would like to thank you for sharing your opinion with us and with our potential guests. We are deeply sorry that you found our beds unconfortable: we shall speak about it to the Management. Did you, by any chance, tell our reception? Perhaps we could see to change your bedroom to a different one; not all our matresses are the same. Anyway, we would like to thank you that you chose us and hope to be able to serve you again in the future.

The hotel has a really convenient location, (1 minute from St. Marks), and genuinely helpful & friendly staff. Our ideal is to wander, get lost and then use the map & vaporetti to get home. The location of the al Ponte dei Sospiri was perfect for this. We never mastered the shower control in 3 days, but this adds to the charm !

This hotel and its larger sister Donna Palace are tucked in just behind St Marks square 2 bridges upstream from the Bridge of Sighs.

Being strong supporters of public transport we skipped the (expensive) water taxi and took the vaporetto from the train station to San Zaccario/St. Marks square stop for 7.5E each- then walked about 10 min. The distance to the Airport vaporetto dock is about the same. This option is likely only functional for those traveling "carry on". For those with luggage taking a taxi the hotel does have its own dock.

Our room was fine size wise, but the bathroom had a perversely small shower given the size of the bathroom. I would not recommend a crimson carpet for a hotel. It may look lovely at first but it does rather show spots..... Free Internet was available but signal strength was not consistent throughout the room or even over time. Overall a nice but not exceptional room. No coffee maker sadly and a lovely chandelier.

We elected for the buffet breakfast at the sister hotel. The room was lovely overlooking the canal but the fabric/leather on the chairs was very tired, but the cloth serviettes were nice. The buffet did include an option of eggs as well as the usual cold fare, good but not amazing.
We found the area too commercial for our tastes and next time would choose a location that is a little more "off the beaten path" but I can't fault the location in any way- just my research.
Our room for 2 in early October clocked in at about 400 USD which seems a little high, but them again don't visit often enough to form an opinion.

Dear Sir/Madam,
thank you so much for the review which you left on Tripadvisor about our Hotel Al Ponte dei Sospiri! We were happy to read you enjoyed our very central location and your bedroom. Wi-fi connection is available cost-free througout the building and the strenght of its signal may occasionally be weak. We do not provide any coffee-makers since we have a lovely bar, just around the corner, where one of the best coffees in Venice is made! Anf, for your convenience, it can be delivered in your bedroom. We took good note of the other comments about your room, its furniture, our buffet-style breakfast and thank you very much for letting us know your point of view. Nevertheless we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again soon!

stayed for 3 nights in October, we couldn't fault this hotel at all, its the perfect location close to all the attractions, we had a lovely suite second floor and didn't find it noisy at all, having breakfast brought to the room and laid out was a very nice touch, the staff were very helpful as we had a issue with our return water taxi and gladly rang to sort this out, I would definatley recommend this hotel, it may not be cheap but nothing in venice is and I feel was well worth the money

This was our first visit to Venice and we weren't dissapointed. We stayed 4 nights. The hotel is a lot closer to St Marks Square so not very far to walk from the pier, which was good due to the fact that the company we paid extra to for taking us directly to the hotel said they couldn't take us there! The hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and cheerful nothing was too much trouble. Although there was no canal view room available, our room was lovely and spacious, the bed was massive and very comfotable. I liked the fact of going to their sister hotel for breakfast which was just ove the narrow street and had had lovely views over the canal and was also very nice, nothing was too much trouble. We couldn't have been closer to everything you want to see on a visit to Venice. I would highly reocmmend this hotel and would definately book again when we return to venice. We didn't find it noisy, just the lovely sound of people enjoying themselves whether window shopping or dining in the restaurant next door.

Room Tip: Just request a canal view room when you book if you want that view

Room-service breakfast is offered cost-free to all the guests staying at the Ponte Dei Sospiri as well! Stayed for 3 nights at Al Ponte dei Sospiri (me & my wife), we had a really nice time there. The main reason choosing this hotel was its location, at the corner of San Marco square and close to the most attractions of Venice. We had a junior suite on the canal side and it had amazing view. The room was comfortable enough, very quite and clean. The staff at the reception very professional and helpful.
The only thing we found it less comfortable is that breakfast room is located in another hotel close by (Donna Palace), anyway we knew that fact from the beginning so not a big deal. I thing this hotel is a bit overpriced, but in overall we really enjoyed staying there.

Room Tip: Higher floors, less noise. choose a room with canal view, nice panorama.

Dear Sir,
thank you so much for leaving a nice review about our Hotel Al Ponte dei Sospiri! Stayed for 3 nights at Al Ponte dei Sospiri (me & my wife), we had a really nice time there. We are happy you enjoyed our location: as you could see we really are 2 minutes walk to San Marco's Square! Also, we were pleased to read you liked your junior suite with views over the Canal of the Canonica and our friendly staff. We always try to assure a pleasant stay to all of our guests and we are happy when we read we succeeded in this task. Breakfast-wise we always offer our guests two choices: they can enjoy room-service breakfast with no charge (cost free!) or they can join a buffet-style breakfast in our sister hotel (which is just around the corner from the Al Ponte dei Sospiri). We hope to have the pleasure to welcoming you again in the future and thank you again for your custom!

Stayed for 3 nights in September
Staff very helpful and friendly, our room was a junior suite and although very pretty was quite dark, very clean and comfy bed, would def recommend a room on the canal side, some people may find it a little noisy but we liked that about the hotel...
Very close to everything, breakfast is served in a sister hotel round the corner, which we did find a bit annoying as we didn't use the facilities on any morning.. We would have done if it had been just downstairs....But we knew this before travelling,
One thing I would say to managment is maybe tea and coffee facilities in the room...
Would recommend to all...
