“Awesome Spot for a Great Price”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Everything is expensive in Venice. If you want to visit on a budget, stay outside the city and commute in.

Otherwise spend a few extra bucks and stay at this reasonably-priced hostel.

You get a clean dorm room with huge ceilings right on the waterfront with an awesome view, a great staff, very conveniently located in the city.

This place is an amazing hostel! It is very clean and smaller. It is quite easy to find as long as you take a water taxi. The staff was extremely helpful and kind! It has a beautiful location and gives a bit of a break from insanely busy part of Venice. I loved my time in this hostel!

Staying at Silk Road is more like staying at a hotel but you share the room with other people. The room I shared was very spacious, clean and light and airy. The beds were clean and comfortable and there was a place to lock up valuables. There is a clean fully equipped kitchen and a fairly extensive breakfast included. Bathrooms were also clean with plentiful hot water. Free internet was included and the hostel was only a short walk from the Vaporetto. Alex was there to help with and questions and was very welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.

If you would rather avoid hostels because you hate bunk beds and room mates that return late a night from a party: opt for the Silk Road. The hostel is small, clean and beds are comfortable.

Maybe they could find a better solution for the lockers than handing out a chain and a pad lock, but as the hostel is small i think it is ok (you don't need to fear that somebody will steal your stuff). The location is nice andbreakfast was not amazing but quite good for a hostel. The Silk Road is not cheap, but nothing in Venice is, so if you choose a hostel, choose this one!

The location was lovely, right on the waterfront, though it took us a long time to find it. We know now that the easiest way is to get on the number 2 water bus and get off at S.Basilio. Don't attempt to walk. We got lost even when we knew where it was.

Alex, the owner, was extremely helpful and friendly. He made a number of recommendations for our stay and offered to make the reservations for dinner. We went to the Venice Jazz Club, at his suggestion, and it was absolutely fantastic.

The hostel was very clean, as were the sheets. The duvets were lovely, really soft. The room was very spacious, no bunk beds. The breakfast wasn't bad - quite a lot of choice, which was surprising. More than one pot of coffee would be welcome though, as there really wasn't enough to go around.

One of the best hostels I have stayed in and would definitely go back. My friends were extremely pleased that I booked this place - they were jumping up and down with joy because it was so nice!

Thank you Alex, for everything you did for us!

Even though we only got to stay at Silk Road for one night, the hosts and the place were so lovely! Would highly recommend!

The room (private double with shared bathroom) was really lovely, and although noise from the avenues below travelled up between the buildings, this couldn't be helped.

The free breakfast in the morning was also really delicious and broad, and we were able to mingle with other guests too.

The guys let us leave our stuff at the hostel during the day too, once we had checked out, which meant we could go an explore Venice properly without struggling with heavy backpacks (our train wasn't until later that evening).

Overall, was a lovely experience and would definitely stay there again if we ever get back to Venice (fingers crossed)!

I stayed here for two nights and had a great time. Alex, the host, was incredibly friendly. He took some of the guests and I on a short photo tour around the area one afternoon then even made us dinner in the evening. The location is very convenient, just a short water taxi ride from the bus terminal, and there is a grocery store right down the street. I'm so glad I chose to stay here!

Room Tip: I stayed in the female dorm room, which was very spacious and comfortable.
