Took my now fiancée there to propose to her. It was very elegant and had giant rooms. The hotel was just off Venice and was accessible via a free shuttle boat that left very 20ish minutes. The room service was tasty but also very pricey. The jacuzzi room was brilliant with big open traditional windows to allow a peaceful breeze whilst relaxing in the hot tub.

I stayed here with my husband for his birthday, it truly was the most amazing hotel we have ever stayed in. The decor and architecture absolutely incredible, the history fascinating. The staff were amazing, the service second to none and the room incredible. We stayed in a suite and were upgraded due to my husbands birthday being a special one. We arrived at the island by a private speedboat from the airport to be greeted by conciege, our luggage was on the end of the bed when we entered the room. The hotel has it's own water taxi to St Marks sqaure so nothing was too far to walk to once we arrived at the square. San Clemente Island was very special, the grounds, the hotel, the spa treatments, the restaurants, everything. It was such a shame that it closed the week after we returned home in October 2012. I hope it finds a new owner and re-opens as this has to be one of our top 10 hotels that we have stayed in.

I was hesitant to stay away from Venice proper but this hotel on it's own island took away any of my doubts, The service was exceptional and as was our deluxe room overlooking Sam Marco Sqaure in the distance. The concierge and hotel staff were so accomadating and responded to numerous e-mail berfore we even arrived. We had dinner on the terrace and the food was delicious. Breafeast is serviced inside or in a courtyard when wethaer permits and fantastic, They offer a complimentary water shuttle to Sam Marci Sqaure for sightseeing and touristic activities. We even had a famour artist as our next door neighbor!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the building overlooking San Maracoo

While there are a number of wonderful and well-known hotels in Venice, San Clemente Palace offers a beautiful sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the mainland. It is located on an island which is 5-8 minutes by boat from Venice. You travel to and from the island by hotel-owned and operated launches (the famous Venetian wooden boats). The hotel is lovely and the rooms are very large and elegant. The bar is a fabulous gathering place, the restaurants are very good and the spa is wonderful. You feel as though you are on a private retreat w/ the excitement of Venice at your fingertips. And just to add to the experience, the staff is excellent!

Fantastic 5* hotel. My wife and I stayed 3 days at the San Clemente Palace in March 2006 for our wedding anniversary. We had a great room with views back over the bay to St Marks Square
Well appointed bedrooms with fabulous décor, bathrooms with plenty of fluffy towels and bathrobes also complementary slippers. We also had a nice bottle of champagne in an ice bucket with the complements of the management - a nice touch! The rooms were spotlessly clean and the room service unobtrusive. Massively wide hotel corridors with chandeliers and elegant tapestry’s on the walls. The location is ideal on its own island with a courtesy shuttle boat every 20 mins during the day from Piazza St Marco. The journey only takes 15 mins and is a very relaxing way to travel back to your room after the miles of walking around Venezia. The sauna & steam rooms along with the relaxing Jacuzzi was a god send to recharge our batteries and relax after a days sight seeing before dinner. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Without doubt one of the best 5* hotels I have stayed in around the world and we will certainly be going back for more. I would highly recommend this hotel and the trip adviser was a great help in choosing this hotel. We have also booked 2 others from reading the comments on there site
