This hotel is perhaps the perfect location, out of the bustle but easy strolling distance to everything and on its own canal, and near a beautiful square with the necessary wine drinking spot, felt like a local in no time. the staff are great, rooms are 'Venetian' which was just as you would want. Recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to feel what Venice is truly about.

Room Tip: As for the canal view room, you will not be disappointed.

Stayed at the Duodo Palace in Venice from the 21st July- 24th July 2014. Nice hotel, very clean and tidy. Staff were relatively friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. We didn't arrange a private taxi boat from airport to hotel as ridiculously priced (150 euros each way) so we got the river taxi roughly 15 euros per person. Took one hour and 20 min to get to st marco square which was fine but wasn't the easiest thing to find the hotel from there.
Anyway once we found the hotel, the trip was lovely. We had decent weather for the three days. Went on a Gondola which was 80 euros for 30 mins, gondolier was very pleasant. Overall Duodo palace and venice were both very nice but ridiculously expensive. We've been to florence and Rome before which we loved and venice was so much more expensive. 13.90 euros for a bottle of beer to sit outside the bar on st. Marco square. Only 3 euros to take way though. Lovely palace but a proper tourist trap.

This hotel is tucked away near the Venice Opera. Although difficult to find, if you listen to the advice of the reception staff (we sadly didn't initially) there is a simple route taking only 10 minutes to the main sites in St Mark's square. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs, was comfortable and decorated in a traditional style. The head room was limited in the shower - an issue for my husband at 6 ft but not for me at 5.2. Breakfast was basic with extra costs for hot items. We'd recommend using the boat taxi when heading to the airport - expensive at E120 but the hotel arrange to pick up at the hotel steps. An amazing way to leave the beautiful city.

Spent two nights here at end of a walking holiday in the Euganean hills. Arrived by water bus from the station , got off at Rialto (suggested on hotel website) but probably would have done better to gone to San Marco as although I had a rough idea where we were going, had not anticipated the narrow streets being so incredibly busy (also street signage not great) and it is slightly more direct from San Marco Square - fine once you find the signs for the Opera House La Fenice as there is a sign for the hotel in the piazza outside the opera house
Had a lovely room on the third floor overlooking the canal-very venetian in character with a high ceiling and window shutters. However really appreciated the modern air conditioning as it was very warm
Had pre-dinner cocktails in the hotel on both nights - ancient stone well adds character to the bar
Location is great - 5 minutes away from St Marks and the Doges Palace. We headed away from the crowds on our 2nd day and crossed the Accademia bridge into the Dorsoduro area, all within easy walking distance
Would recommend this hotel- good value for money in a very expensive city

Room Tip: Overlooking the canal

A beautiful hotel in a very central, but quiet, location. Service was understated but superb. We stayed with our 3 teenage daughters and the hotel was perfect for us. Rooms were a good size, not what you would describe as large, but nicely furnished. Breakfast was excellent, but try and get seated in the larger upstairs room. The public spaces are small but beautiful and we can especially recommend a cocktail in the intimate bar as the perfect end to a day's sightseeing.

Hi my partner and I stayed here in February, I had read reports that it was impossible to find, but as long as you follow a few simple things it was a 10 minute walk from san Marco water bus stop. Follow signs for teatro la fenice than turn right as you pass it and its 50mtr on the left. Be aware the signs tend to be above the alleyways so keep looking up or you will miss them, if you haven't been to Venice before its worth getting an open water bus ticket for your stay you can jumps on and off as much as you want. Back to the hotel, its a vary welcoming and friendly hotel the room we had was vary nice could have been a bit bigger but hey you only sleep in it. breakfast was spot on, if you go Feb be aware of the high tides you will need wellies or do as most do and buy a pair of overboots for a few euros, trust me you will need them if you plan to leave the hotel.

Great little hotel in the San Marco area near the San Marco and Rialto water bus stops. Bring a map or a fully charged phone with good GPS map as it is a bit hard to find when walking from the docs. Alternatively, take a water taxi right to the front door as the hotel is on a small canal. Pay in advance option will give you an excellent room rate, even in the height of tourist season. Nice breakfast is included in the rate. Great little place with great service and nice sized rooms.
