Liassidi Palace Hotel
Ranked #72 of 387 Hotels in Venice
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 28 July 2012

Liassidi is in a wonderful location, 5 minutes from st Marco, but away from the throngs of tourists. We had a huge room overlooking the side canal, perfect in every way. Room was spotless, modern fittings and everything worked perfectly. The staff were exceptional, friendly, efficient and helpful. It is very close to numerous small restaurants and bars where you can find fresh fish, excellent pastas and cuisine, all at back street prices. It is about 15 minutes walk to the Rialto bridge and markets. We could not fault this hotel and it is high on the recommended list. By the way it is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group, and it deserves to be!

We stayed for a couple of nights in July 12. First of all, when visiting Venice by plane you should factor-in the approx 1hr 20min journey on the Vaporetto water bus from the airport to Venice (15 euro per person each way), and some time to find your hotel, the Liassidi is only about a 5 min walk from the San Vaccaria stop when you know your way, but give it 30 mins if you don't, get a map, the directions that were provided were useless.
If there are 5 or 6 or more in your party (or you have no money constraints) you may want to consider a water taxi, at about 110 euro each way, it takes about 30mins and will drop you straight at the hotel door.
The hotel location is very good, quiet area, but close enough to the main attractions with some nice shady walks through the streets, remember Venice is not exactly big, but you can cover some distances around those streets, especially as you find your way. There are a couple of ok restaurants close to the hotel, and restaurants just about everywhere.
Recommend Urban Adventure's Cicchetti tour on your first day or night to discover and sample some good local food and wine, and find out a little bit about Venice and how the locals live.
The hotel itself is nothing special, our room had no character, was pretty small, had a bed as hard as stone, but was clean and air conditioned. Breakfast the usual continental fare, meat, cheese, bread, cereals, scrabbled egg and streaky bacon, juice, tea, coffee, small selection of fruit. There is no restaurant, and no bar, although you can sit in a small courtyard at the front of the hotel and order a beer from reception until about 10pm, after that we we told that we could take stuff from our rooms mini bar, which they didn't refresh after i drank the 2 bottles of beer that were available on the first night, although after i complained they didn't charge me for the drink i did have (also didn't offer to refill it). Overall the staff were friendly enough, and our stay was ok but nothing special, it didn't live up to its 4* rating (no bar, restaurant, or drinks after 10pm!) Venice we will visit again (out of season, end of July not great for a few reasons that you should check out online before you book), i wouldn't stay at the Liassidi again, probably look for an apartment, probably make Venice part of a bigger trip and come in by train.

we enjoyed our four-night stay. the front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. we booked directly through SLH and were upgraded to a small suite, which was huge and right on the canal. bed and bath were very comfortable. breakfast was just ok -- room was small and warm; not much variety; eggs not cooked to order.

like most of venice, hotel is hard to find the first time. made the mistake of taking the vaperetto from the train station and wandering around with the bags for a long time. recommend paying E70 for a water taxi, and you will arrive in style at the hotel's private dock.

By Venice standards this hotel was really spacious and clean. Free wi fi was great. The breakfast was average but sufficient and some good fresh fruit. Getting to the hotel is not too bad-- get off at St Marco San Zaccaria station then its a short walk. The private taxis are a total rip-off but we had to use it to get to the airport-- 110 euros. Bathrooms were very spacious and clean. Checking in and out was very smooth

We stayed for 7 nights at the start of July and loved every minute of it.
Catching the Vaparetto from the train station, stopping at San. Zaccaria and trying to find the hotel with our bags wasn't the best choice however. It can be a little difficult to find the hotel at first and the step bridges were quite trying with our suitcases, however shopkeepers along the way were happy to point us in the right direction.

Upon arrival, the staff were fantastic right off the bat. Very friendly, helpful and a pleasure to talk with. We had booked a deluxe room but were given an upgrade to a lovely "junior suite" (i think thats what she said) with a balcony overlooking the canal (one of very few rooms with a balcony). The room itself was charming, a large comfy bed and a very big bathroom (by Italian hotel standards), however the room itself wasn't very big - this wasn't really an issue though as we didn't plan on spending too much time in there.

Liassidi offers a nice, big courtyard at the entrance of the hotel from where you can order drinks, sit and relax. All the staff are always smiling and we found that they often went out of their way to help us. The hotel is in a lovely location, roughly 5-10 minute walk from San Marco, and once you've learned your way around, only 5 minutes from the Vaparetto stop.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to remain close to major attractions, yet far enough away not to be completely surrounded by tourists. A fantastic hotel with wonderful staff!

Venice is an amazing place to see. We could not have been happier with the location, service, or price. Liassidi Palace is a value on its own.

Hotel conveniently located so you can explore the city by foot, it's a few minutes away from all the touristy places.

The hotel is an old Palazzo, discreet, with an entrance on the river and in a tiny street. There is a nice patio in front of the hotel.

The restaurant opens to the river, which is cool but the food is awful and the choice or the lack of in that case, is terrible.

The rooms are tiny, but very well decorated. Don't expect much of a view as the building is stuck amongst others. your only chance is to get a river facing room.

Overall is was a decent choice considering the price and the fact that all other hotels were fully booked, but i am not sure if i will go back...

Venice is a one time thing in my opininion
