“Friendly and great service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

One night stay as part of an interrail trip. The room had a balcony on to the canal at ground level and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly for a novice to Venice. The room was a little stuffy and the bed felt like a cheap mattress on a fold out camp bed frame which was not comfortable as other budget hotels.
It is quiet and out of the way from the hustle and bustle, this does restrict food options to the nearby fast food shop in the evening.
Note the ferry cut-off times in the evening back to the island. On arrival, there is a direct ferry from outside the train station, use this to get to the island (Giudecca) as that will save you getting lost on arrival trying to find the correct ferry port.
Good breakfast, decent nights sleep, and very helpful staff. Would certainly stay again.

My husband arranged a surprise "getaway" to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary, by bringing me back to our favourite city, Venice. We had stayed at Domina Home in 2009, and once again were not disappointed with our stay in June 2014. The staff are all extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them, you are made to feel very welcome. Our room was very clean, comfortable and very quiet. The breakfast was fresh, plentiful and served in the very pleasant breakfast room.
We took the opportunity to wander around Giudecca this time and were pleasantly surprised by the peace and tranquillity and lack of tourists, which was a pleasant relief from the jostling bustle across the water. Travelling across and back from the main island was no trouble at all, with water transport very frequent.
We would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone seeking a quiet retreat away from the madding crowd. After a day of walking miles, Domina is a welcome restful haven, and one to which we will most definitely return. Gracie mille.

Room Tip: You will not be disappointed with your room, whichever one is appointed to you.

This is a great little hotel tucked away in Giudecca. The rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast is included for guests. The staff there are pretty helpful and gave some good recommendations on places to eat. I had my apprehensions about staying in Giudecca as opposed to the heart of Venice but I'm glad I chose this hotel because it was nice to get away from the crowds. You can easily catch a Vaporetto one stop to 'mainland Venice' for the day, and there are some cheap, good restaurants on the island without the tourist price-tag attached. If you stay here then I'd recommend getting a Vaporetto travelcard. The company that do them are called ACTV.

On the downside hotel Wi-Fi is slow and can only be used in the lobby.

We booked domina home as it was recommended by a friend.. We took the boat from near the railway station and it was like a 45 mns till we reached the hotel. It doesnt look like a hotel at all from outside, but from inside its neat and nice the room was ok with toiletries.. The breakfast was fine also croissant was fresh and the baking smell filled the hotel.. Good stay but would prefer to stay closer to the city center next time as it took us more than 40 mns each time to return to the hotel

We arrived at Domina Home at 8.00 pm after discovering that the yacht we had booked on the next door island had closed down. We had been travelling and had not received the email from Booking.com but they were very efficient and told us they had reserved alternative accommodation at Domina Home. We were a bit worried at first when we had to negotiate this narrow alleyway to get to the hotel but once inside we were delighted. The guy at reception was very nice and helpful and recommended a very good restaurant as by this time we were all very hungry. Our rooms were the cheaper ones and did not have a view but they were very comfortable and extremely clean. The breakfast in the morning in the lovely conservatory was very enjoyable with a choice of yoghurts, fruit, cereal, cold meat, cheese and delicious croissants. I can still remember the smell of them cooking when I went out for my early morning walk. Giudecca Island is a joy! I would not stay anywhere else if and when I go back to Venice. Walking around the island is a pleasure and you can get away from the Venice crowds very quickly in just 4 vaparetto stops. The 3 restaurants we went to were all great as well at Palanka where we had drinks on a couple of evenings. Looking across at the lights of Venice was amazing and the sunsets were just incredible.

Booked for three nights, reasonable price. Arrived late on Friday night, Relatively easy to find, friendly welcome, easy check-in. Beverages available. All good! Room very acceptable. Clean. In the morning breakfast was okay, a little more choice would be nice though . Staying in Giudecca was a good choice, because leaving the hotel in the morning, walking down the alley, through the arch, then seeing Venice, is truly amazing!!! Quiet hotel, would recommend if you like being away from the crowds. Easy short boat across to Venice. VENICE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

The hotel is located on a quiet street/canal a boat ride away from the San Marco crowds. We stayed only one night in the "superior" room, which was situated picturesquely on the canal. The room was a bit small for two of us, not to mention the addition of our 7yr old child, but very clean and fully adequate for a short stay. It was a real pleasure to arrive and leave the hotel through the quaint campo and come upon the grand view across the grand canal. We will go back to this place on our next short trip!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hotel is on the Giudecca Island, the largest one of the Venice lagoon with its eight islands connected by typical bridges. In this context with its backwater charm we find the Hotel Giudecca, an elegant building in a vaguely retro style far away from the tourist bustle of the historical center. In its renovation, this architectural lagoon gem has preserved the traits and the value of its incredible past. A private dock on the Palada Canal provides a water entrance. The 30 rooms have kept an ancient and sophisticated line though offering the most contemporary comforts and amenities. The hotel is the ideal starting point for those who want to live and experience the real Venice in its authentic bohemian style: the Venice which reminds the aristocratic salons, the intrigues and legends. The Venice of the fishermen, of the artisans who have chosen a long time ago to base on this island their own businesses, but also of the fugitives who fled here over the centuries. All this at a short distance from the heart of the city: San Marco Square which can be reached from the hotel by boat in a few minutes. ... more   less
